Evandel

Evandel is a young witch raised by Kim Hajin and later cared for by Rachel and Ah Hae-In. Her early life turns a predicted calamity into a family story: she grows from a sheltered child who makes small ghost animals into a trained magician whose spirit-beast army protects Europe. That power never erases her personhood. The seed that held her soul before birth was a temporary vessel; the living Evandel is a person, never an item or anyone's property.

Biography

Seed, hatching, and first home

Hajin first encounters an incomplete witch in Gari Mountain Dungeon, where the record identifies her as Evandel and describes a spirit body able to produce low-rank ghosts. After that body dies, its life energy becomes a seed containing her soul. Hajin chooses to germinate it rather than follow the future in which hostile caretakers would raise Evandel into a feared stronghold-builder. The seed consumes small quantities of blood, and the source explicitly says that the donor can influence the developing witch's personality and growth. (Chapters 30–31)

The seed is nourished with blood from Rachel's discarded gauze, then repeatedly moves toward Rachel on its own. During Cube's final examination it jumps to Rachel's wounded abdomen and hatches into a child who resembles her younger self, warms the injury, and immediately calls Rachel “Mommy.” Hajin hides the newborn, brings her home, and asks her to call him “Uncle” instead of “Daddy,” but his day-to-day feeding, teaching, and worry already make him her guardian in practice. Dependent family and dangerous creations

Evandel's first household is concealed inside Hajin's Cube room and later his Seoul apartment. She learns speech, smart devices, lessons, and household rules unusually quickly, while cartoons, food, Hayang, and repeated reunions give her a recognizably childish life. Her instinctive creation magic appears first as small birds and animals made from spirit bodies. She can also temporarily transform herself into animals, but she remains dependent on Hajin for shelter, supervision, and contact with the outside world. (Chapters 67–90 and 94–115)

Her attachment to Hajin becomes reciprocal rather than merely practical. She waits for him, video-calls him, grows upset when he leaves, and welcomes him back into her arms; he recognizes her as emotional support and reorganizes his movements around her care. Yet her witch authority creates a new danger when she separates part of her soul to make the Ghost Wolf, later called Fenrir. A Servant is much stronger than an ordinary creation and grows with its creator, but the process is limited to roughly three to five Servants over a witch's lifetime, making it an exceptional bond rather than a technique she can mass-produce. Protected childhood, teaching, and Rachel

As Evandel grows, Hajin builds a high-mana underground training room while also trying to preserve an ordinary childhood. She studies mathematics and online lessons, plays with Hayang, befriends Yun Haeyeon, hosts sleepovers, and becomes the cheerful leader of a small group of children. Her hidden origin prevents formal school attendance, so education comes through home study and trusted adults. During Hajin's absences, Haeyeon's household provides care, while Evandel continues spirit training and learns to command a growing group of ghost animals. (Chapters 130–155, 170–177, and 198–225)

Hajin eventually refuses a proposal to place Evandel under institutional observation, insisting that she is human, and asks Ah Hae-In to teach her directly. Under that private arrangement, Evandel develops the quality, quantity, and command of her summons without being surrendered to the Magic Tower or Hero Association. Hajin then keeps his promise to let her meet Rachel. Although frightened and excited, Evandel introduces herself, approaches slowly, and chooses to stay at Buckingham Palace for a time; Rachel answers her affection with care and makes room for Haeyeon rather than demanding that Evandel abandon her existing friend. England, a domain, and wartime support

In England, Evandel's creations spread across Europe as “mystical animals” that help people. Ah Hae-In limits the child's burden by having her create a unicorn commander and a chain of command, rather than directing every creature herself. Even with that structure, large-scale service has costs: Evandel becomes exhausted while tending wounded summons, and Rachel and Ah Hae-In keep her identity hidden from institutions that might exploit her. When Fenrir is injured, Evandel's sense of powerlessness helps her choose the lonely training needed to establish a domain of her own. (Chapters 251, 254, 270, 276–290)

Evandel spends an extended period in the forest, calling back her spirit beasts and letting them consolidate the land while she inscribes her will into it. The resulting domain gives her an independent base, but its construction requires isolation and sustained effort rather than instant power. When Baal's descent threatens Europe, she chooses to act: after stating that she endured the loneliness in order to protect family, friends, people, and animals, she rides her unicorn and commands thousands of spirit beasts alongside Ah Hae-In against Valac's army. War's consequences, memory, and future

Evandel's wartime power remains emotionally vulnerable. When she shares the unicorn's vision of devastated Paris, the violence overwhelms her; she cuts the connection, and spirit beasts that sense her agitation lose coordination or leave battle. Afterward, reports of other Heroes continuing despite fear change her understanding of heroism. She decides that she admires their sacrifice and wants to follow their example, then cries with relief when Hajin's Communication Letter reaches her. These moments turn protection from a childhood impulse into a goal she consciously accepts, without pretending that war no longer frightens her. (Chapters 351 and 362)

After Hajin's existence is erased from most people's memories, Evandel is one of the nine people who still remember him. The corpus associates that retention with a “key link” but does not define a separate spell or biological mechanism for it. She later lives with Hajin, Rachel, and Yi Byul in the Healing City, keeps her friendships, and remains loyal enough to resent Kim Suho for forgetting Hajin. At the Temple of the Nine Heroes she appears in a magician's hat and carries a wand beside Ah Hae-In, showing that training and family both continue beyond the war. (Chapters 364–377)

Appearance and personality

Evandel hatches with the appearance and size of a three- or four-year-old child and is light enough to be carried easily. She resembles a younger Rachel closely enough to be called a miniature version of her, and her hair remains blond even when she transforms into an animal. She grows slowly, is still notably short near the end of the corpus, and increasingly favors a conspicuous magician's hat, robe, and wand. (Chapters 57, 65–67, 150, 170, 233, and 372–377)

She is affectionate, excitable, curious, and strongly responsive to praise. Food, animation, toys, smart devices, animals, and time with friends produce open delight, while separation or perceived rejection can bring pouting, tears, or tantrums. She is also capable of sharing, study, patience, and courage: she learns to give Hayang favored food, trains when unsupervised, approaches Rachel carefully despite fear, and accepts isolation to protect others. Her emotional sensitivity remains a genuine limitation in war rather than a childish trait that simply disappears. (Chapters 75–117, 138–177, 199, 233–236, 290, 337, and 351–362)

Gifts and abilities

Witch foundation and transformation

The source defines a witch through three foundations: producing ghosts, possessing a human body, and having human-level intelligence capable of distributing those ghosts. Evandel begins with an incomplete spirit body, then acquires a stable child form through the seed's germination. As a young child she can temporarily copy the form of a pictured cat or bird, and she does not need ordinary food to survive even though she enjoys eating. The corpus does not show unrestricted shapeshifting or establish that copied forms grant every ability of the animal. (Chapters 30–31 and 65–67)

Spirit creation and command

Evandel instinctively molds spirit bodies into birds and animals, beginning with small “nightingales,” cats, dogs, and other creatures before creating horses, tigers, a unicorn, and a much larger army. Her creations can act, fight, and respond to commands, while training improves both their quality and the number she can coordinate. The narration alternates among ghosts, summons, spirit animals, and spirit beasts; it also describes her underlying power as the “power of spirits,” so these terms should not be assumed to represent several fully explained magic systems. Scale does not eliminate management or fatigue. Ah Hae-In teaches Evandel to build a command hierarchy around an intelligent unicorn, and Evandel can use a distinctive power signature to call scattered beasts back to her. Sustained deployments leave her tired, wounded creations require care, and distress can pass through her connection strongly enough to disrupt their behavior. Her largest forces therefore depend on organization, emotional control, time, and a safe base rather than unlimited simultaneous attention. (Chapters 254, 276, 290–291, 337–351)

Servants and Fenrir

A Servant is a special witch creation made by separating part of the witch's soul into a clone-like being. Servants are stronger than ordinary creations, possess superior growth potential, and strengthen in step with their creator. Evandel's first is the Ghost Wolf Fenrir, who can merge into a chosen master's body as a tattoo, sense danger, and acquire traits by absorbing defeated monsters. Hajin carries and trains Fenrir, but the wolf remains identified as Evandel's creation and is gentle toward her. (Chapters 109, 113, 118–122, 131, 155, and 199)

This authority is explicitly limited: a witch can create only about three to five Servants during her life. Fenrir is also not invulnerable; early records call stamina and vitality his weaknesses, and later injury causes Evandel serious distress. Nothing in the supplied corpus establishes that Evandel creates every later spirit beast by dividing her soul, so the mass-produced army should not be treated as thousands of Servants. Domain and battlefield support

From that base, Evandel directs thousands of spirit beasts across Europe, uses a unicorn as both commander and mount, and supports the defense against Valac's army. Her creations also transport Ah Hae-In and share vision over distance. These capabilities make Evandel an elite summoner by the standards used in the narrative, but the strongest demonstrations occur with training, a prepared hierarchy, her domain, and allied adults. • Kim Hajin: Hajin caretakes Evandel's seed phase, raises her after hatching, builds her home and training space, and rejects institutions that would classify her as a dangerous specimen. Evandel treats him as family, waits through his absences, chooses domain training only after asking to see him, and retains his memory after his erasure. His guardianship changes his daily responsibilities and gives him a powerful reason to return to ordinary life. (Chapters 31–113, 150–233, 290–303, 342, 362, and 376)
• Rachel: Rachel's blood nourishes Evandel before birth, but their living relationship is not ownership and is not reduced to biology. Evandel longs to meet her, then chooses to stay with her in England; Rachel responds by protecting her identity, caring for her during exhaustion, and refusing to use her as a bargaining tool.
