Xiao Guitu

Xiao Guitu is Xiao Guiluan’s elder brother and the head of the Xiao family. He cultivates ties with his sister’s Li relatives while trying to protect his clan against the political pressures surrounding Xiao Chuting and the Azure Pond Sect. (Chapters 245,289,316,399–410)

Biography

Kinship and a change of policy

Guitu warmly receives Li Tongya before the marriage joining their families and later supports Guiluan when their father refuses to attend her departure. As the leading cultivator of his generation, he visits the Lis with news of Xiao Yongling’s advancement and warns Li Yuanjiao about Yu Muxian’s powerful foundation and backing. His affection for Guiluan and her son Li Xizhi accompanies a more calculating interest in the neighboring clan’s rapid rise. He considers using marriage to make the Lis subordinate, but Xiao Chuting’s suspicion that they possess hidden Purple Mansion support persuades him to abandon that approach. (Chapters 245,289,315–316,399)

Chuting’s disappearance leaves Guitu vulnerable to Chi Buzi, whose divine ability influences him despite the ancestor’s protective artifact. Believing the Lis have a concealed Daoist Master, he asks Guiluan to convey an appeal through Yuanjiao. The appeal exposes how precarious his position has become: neighboring vassals are restless, and his damaged armor offers Guiluan visible evidence of the pressure on him. After Chuting returns, Guitu admits the encounter and follows the ancestor’s instructions to recall Xiao Yuansi. His quiet support also helps Guiluan settle affairs at Mount Yu and secure visiting cultivators to stabilize it. (Chapters 399–402,410)

Guitu continues to manage the clans’ practical relationship, promptly clarifying the Rui family’s position and the Xiao claim to Green Essence Copper mining. By his later meeting with Yuanjiao, he has reached late-stage Foundation Establishment. He courteously discusses the Green Pine Temple expedition and acknowledges the elders’ friendship, yet privately judges that the Xiao family should not take risks over the Li conflict with Yu Muxian. His diplomacy preserves cooperation while placing his own clan’s security first. (Chapters 443,588)

Appearance and personality

He is a broad-shouldered, robust man who wears rune-inscribed armor. Earlier warmth becomes a somber, fatigued manner while Chuting is missing, though affection for his sister remains evident. He is courteous and measured in negotiations, combining genuine kinship with caution about clan interests. (Chapters 316,399,588)

Abilities and cultivation

Guitu is at the third heavenly layer of Qi Cultivation when he visits the Lis, the sixth layer during Chuting’s absence, and late-stage Foundation Establishment at his later meeting with Yuanjiao. Chuting’s dharma artifact helps him withstand Chi Buzi, but cannot prevent the Daoist Master’s mental influence. His advancement does not establish mastery of any named personal offensive technique. (Chapters 316,399,410,588)
