Pazuzu

Pazuzu is Lux’s third Named Creature and the principal shield of his summoned force. Created from an Elite Spirit Warrior as a defensive specialist, he turns repeated destruction into practical experience: he learns to redirect attacks, counter from behind his shield, and accept the front-line deaths that keep Lux and the other Named Creatures alive. His formal classifications change with Lux’s growth, but his defining responsibility remains that of a mobile fortress.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Lux names Pazuzu to solve a weakness in his early army: Diablo is a mobile attacker, not a dedicated tank. The newly named Protector Spirit arrives already equipped for that responsibility, and his Demonic Defender title makes loyalty permanent while strengthening his defenses when badly wounded. Pazuzu immediately accepts missions built around exposure and sacrifice. He carries Eiko and Ishtar over an Orc stronghold’s walls, blocks the defenders’ arrow storm, and remains behind to be subdued while the two infiltrators complete the real objective. (Chapters 104, 108)

That willingness to absorb danger becomes a tactical language between master and summon. Pazuzu alternates aggro against the Crimson Mantis so the dwarves can attack, then stays with Diablo when the monster’s premature berserk state forces everyone else to retreat. He later uses Duel to drag Cadmus into a prepared tower kill-zone and, during the battle around Whitebridge City, lures an Alpha Deimos Flying Tiger away from Thunder Oath. The beast destroys him in one blow, but his route both saves the threatened guild and turns the monster against Lux’s rivals without violating the battle’s rules. (Chapters 125, 152, 209–210)

The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain

During the Lionheart Tournament, Pazuzu’s protection becomes publicly inseparable from Lux’s fighting style. He catches Lux after Cai destroys the golem supporting him, holds his master in midair, and deploys Shield Wall against Cai’s projectile barrage. In the Hidden Domain he stands beside Lux to guard Iris, blocks a surprise sword strike, and helps the Named Creatures defeat Rank 4 Alpha Bone Golems before immediately reinforcing the other allied groups. These actions shift him from a disposable distraction into the dependable center around which Lux coordinates vulnerable allies and more aggressive summons. (Chapters 261, 284, 302)

Defense does not make him an answer to every threat. Pazuzu interrupts the Crimson Living Armor with Shield Bash so Asmodeus can wait out the cooldown on Tame Undead, but neither his strength nor the army’s attacks can damage that target directly. Against the Grim Butcher Nightwalker, an Abyssal World Boss whose blows bypass defense, Pazuzu and Orion each die after only two hits. His five-minute resummoning interval leaves Lux with fewer protectors, establishing that Pazuzu can buy time repeatedly but cannot make defense-piercing attacks harmless. (Chapters 328–329, 352)

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

Pazuzu’s battlefield role expands from taking blows to controlling where stronger enemies spend their attention. He accompanies Lux during the rescue operation against Twilight Rain, serves with a clone as a decoy to draw an enemy army toward the wrong location, and becomes the last barrier against General Revon. When Lux asks him to delay the Ranker, Pazuzu kneels like a knight and promises that Revon will pass only over his dead body. The response is not bravado detached from consequence: by then, Pazuzu has repeatedly died to preserve Lux’s escape windows and understands exactly what the order costs. (Chapters 393, 481, 484)

Repeated destruction also produces frustration and technical growth. After Lux’s upgrades grant Shield Reflect and Shield Counter, Pazuzu can store force from physical or magical blows and return it instead of merely enduring it. In a spar against Peak Initiate barbarians, he channels the resentment of being killed by vastly stronger enemies into controlled deflections, shield throws, rushes, and wrestling counters. His formal Initial Initiate state is lower than theirs, but Legendary armor raises his practical fighting power to an E-Ranker or pseudo-Ranker, letting him defeat five opponents and demonstrate that experience and equipment have made the army’s least aggressive defender dangerous on offense. (Chapters 577, 587, 649–651)

Lux’s Heaven’s Necromancer class later synchronizes the Named Creatures with his rank, imbues their attacks with Divine magic, and eventually evolves Pazuzu into a Divine Guardian. He continues to occupy the fatal center of formations, notably serving as the only remaining tank judged able to receive Aina’s attack after Orion falls. His defenses still have rank-based limits: a Demigod resists Duel after only a brief interruption and poisons his clone through Guts. In the final struggle with Daniel, Pazuzu’s defense and taunting ability contribute through Lux’s collective merger; that Divine Duel is a synchronized group state, not evidence that Pazuzu can reproduce the feat alone. (Chapters 676, 747, 764, 778, 887, 1219)

Open Heaven’s Gate

Pazuzu’s final appearance returns his protective instinct to a peaceful setting. When the officiant asks whether anyone objects to Lux’s wedding, Asmodeus threatens any would-be troublemaker, and Pazuzu rises alongside Diablo, Ishtar, and the other Named Creatures to enforce that warning. No attack is needed. His readiness shows that he remains active and summonable after the final war, while the danger he now guards against is disruption of the family and future his repeated sacrifices helped preserve. (Chapter 1232)

Appearance and personality

Pazuzu first appears as a very fat, hulking spirit warrior more than two meters tall, with black wings, a frightening face, a tower shield in his left hand, and a mace in his right. His body is described as broad enough to block a cave entrance. The wings provide ordinary flight, though his normal aerial speed is slow enough for archers to target him; Madlad Rush supplies the burst mobility that his heavy build otherwise lacks. His later golden and Legendary armor turns the same massive silhouette into a visibly fortified front-line presence. (Chapters 104, 108, 650, 764)

Despite his intimidating appearance, Pazuzu is loyal, disciplined, and often chivalric. He announces himself with “Have no fear! Pazuzu is here,” addresses Lux as lord or master, and formalizes serious promises by kneeling with a fist over his chest. He also has a coarse, combative humor and takes visible satisfaction in finally overpowering suitable opponents. Repeated deaths create resentment rather than emotional numbness, but he converts it into calm under pressure, better deflection, and an acceptance that dying first is sometimes the responsibility he chose as Fortress Defender. (Chapters 104, 152, 484, 650, 764)

Defensive abilities

Demonic Defender foundation and durability

At creation, Pazuzu is a middle-stage Rank 1 Monster with unusually high defense, capable of tanking Rank 2 and Rank 3 attacks despite his low offensive statistics. His Demonic Defender title permanently binds his loyalty to Lux, gives his attacks a small chance to inflict fear, doubles his defense once his health falls below half, and makes Beast Core upgrades fifty percent more effective. Guts prevents a single lethal blow from killing him outright, while Very Tough, Enhanced Fortitude, and armor extend his endurance. These layers are strong but not absolute: defense-bypassing damage kills him rapidly, poison can finish him after Guts activates, and higher-rank attackers can destroy him before his delayed resummoning becomes available. (Chapters 104, 352, 496, 887)

His rating passes through several overlapping systems. He is explicitly Rank 4 in the Hidden Domain, formally assessed as an Initial Initiate during the later spar, and described as a Rank 5 Monster while wearing Legendary equipment. The Heaven’s Necromancer class then ties Named Creature rank to Lux’s own advancement, and Pazuzu evolves into a Divine Guardian when Lux’s Progenitor powers redistribute his statistics. By Lux’s S-Ranker preparation, the named force is described collectively as Empyrean-Ranked Alpha Monsters. These are class-driven synchronizations rather than a separately narrated sequence of Pazuzu completing practitioner trials, and the corpus does not isolate a later individual rank assessment for him after that collective growth. (Chapters 329, 650, 676, 764, 778, 1099)

Shield Wall, Duel, and forced protection

Shield Wall creates a blue shield six meters tall and five meters wide whose defense equals three times Pazuzu’s overall defense and lasts one minute. It can be layered with the under-half-health doubling from Demonic Defender, allowing him to cross an arrow storm or shelter Lux from a concentrated projectile attack. The wall can still crack under sustained force, and attacks that ignore normal defenses can pass through the broader logic of his build. Pazuzu therefore uses it as a timed interception tool, not an invulnerable enclosure, often creating just enough space for Ishtar, Eiko, or Lux to execute a second part of the plan. (Chapters 108, 261, 302, 352)

Duel forces a target into an exchange with Pazuzu and is more reliable than ordinary Taunt against many opponents. He uses it to drag enemies into traps, separate dangerous monsters from weaker allies, or redirect a Ranker’s attention for a few crucial seconds. The skill does not erase rank resistance. An ordinary Ranker can break a basic taunt after several steps, and the Demigod Rhiannon resists Duel [EX] after only two or three seconds. Its final Divine form works on Daniel only while Pazuzu and the other taunt users are merged into Lux and activate their abilities together, making collective amplification an explicit condition of that latest use. (Chapters 152, 210, 346, 404, 887, 1219)

Mobility, shield offense, and counters

Madlad Rush raises Pazuzu’s land or air speed to as much as 200 miles per hour for twenty seconds and then enters a ten-minute cooldown. He combines that brief acceleration with Shield Bash or Shield Charge, turning his weight and defense into impact force, and uses it equally for infiltration, interception, and luring enemies across a battlefield. Outside the burst his flight is average and vulnerable to ranged attacks. The cooldown and short duration therefore reward a prepared line of travel; if the target survives or the route is blocked, Pazuzu cannot immediately repeat the maneuver. (Chapters 104, 108, 209–210, 650, 764)

Shield Reflect and Shield Counter broaden that style by storing force from both physical and magical attacks and releasing it offensively. Pazuzu also learns to deflect rather than receive every blow squarely, follows a thrown shield with armored gauntlet blocks, and uses Body Slam or wrestling throws once an opponent overcommits. These refinements let him defeat stronger formal ranks when Legendary armor absorbs their retaliation. They do not change his fundamental dependency on equipment, timing, and support: enemies who bypass defense, outrank the taunt, poison him, or outlast his burst windows can still remove him from the field. At the endpoint, his greatest documented contribution remains collective—his defense reinforces Lux during the merged battle with Daniel—while Pazuzu himself remains ready to serve as protector at the wedding. (Chapters 577, 587, 650, 887, 1219, 1232)

Middle Rank 1 Monster104Lux names Pazuzu as an Elite Spirit Warrior whose defensive build can withstand stronger monsters.
Rank 4 Monster329The narration places Pazuzu among Lux’s Rank 4 main attack force.
Initial Initiate650Rank synchronization places him at Initial Initiate while Legendary armor raises practical strength to E-Rank.
Rank 5 Monster764Pazuzu is explicitly identified as Rank 5 while fighting in Legendary equipment.
Divine Guardian778Lux’s Ranker breakthrough triggers Pazuzu’s evolution into a Divine Guardian.
Empyrean-Ranked Alpha Monster1099Lux’s S-Rank advance raises Pazuzu and the other Named Creatures to Empyrean Alpha status.
Demigod Rank1167Lux’s Supreme breakthrough raises his Named Creatures, including Pazuzu, to Demigod Rank.

This row records Pazuzu’s explicit practitioner-rank assessment. His earlier monster ratings, later class synchronization, and Divine Guardian evolution belong to parallel or class-driven states and are therefore explained in the abilities section rather than being treated as independently completed practitioner trials. Relationships

  • Lux: Lux names Pazuzu, equips him, directs his deployments, and repeatedly entrusts his own survival to the defender. Pazuzu answers with permanent loyalty and a clear willingness to be destroyed whenever that sacrifice creates an escape, counterattack, or protected future for his master. (Chapters 104, 108, 210, 484, 1219, 1232)
  • Diablo and Ishtar: Pazuzu complements Diablo’s mobile offense and Ishtar’s ranged attacks. He carries Ishtar into guarded positions, holds enemies while she fires, and shares with both the status of an early Named Creature whose repeated summons gradually become Lux’s family and core battle formation. (Chapters 108, 284, 393, 764, 1232)
  • Orion: Orion is Pazuzu’s closest defensive counterpart. They alternate Duel targets, develop a summon-and-withdraw tactic that keeps Guts from being wasted against Rankers, and repeatedly stand together between Lux and fatal attacks. Orion’s absence during the fight with Aina leaves Pazuzu as the formation’s sole principal tank. (Chapters 352, 496, 650, 747, 979)
  • Eiko, Iris, and Colette: Pazuzu’s protection makes other characters’ missions possible: he carries Eiko into the Orc stronghold, guards Iris during the Hidden Domain ambush, and holds enemies while Colette and the dwarves retreat or receive healing. These relationships are defined by practical guardianship rather than extended dialogue. (Chapters 108, 125, 261, 302)

Items

No generated notable item is individually assigned to Pazuzu. His tower shield, mace, golden armor, and later Legendary equipment are central to his fighting style, but the centralized item manifest does not give any of them a separate generated article.
