Ishtar

Ishtar is Lux’s second Named Creature and the first female member of his undead household. Created as a Skeleton Archer and assigned the title “The Forgotten Queen,” she develops into the legion’s principal long-range attacker, a stealth scout trusted with sensitive messages, and eventually a War Goddess who commands other archers. Her unwavering bond to Lux is supernatural in origin, but her restraint, initiative, and repeated willingness to place herself between danger and others give that loyalty an individual character of its own.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Lux names Ishtar while trapped in the Kobold Nest and chooses the Skeleton Hunter path because his small force needs a dedicated ranged specialist rather than another general-purpose combatant. Her title guarantees loyalty and improves Beast Core growth, while her first class skills give Lux the tracking and trap-setting tools he had lacked. Ishtar immediately justifies that choice: she warns him about a concealed Rank 2 Kobold, scatters and reassembles her skeletal body behind the enemy formation, then seals the retreat with traps and arrows so Lux’s group can fight a pincer battle rather than be surrounded. (Chapters 59–60)

As Lux’s companions begin treating his Named Creatures as family, Ishtar settles into a complementary partnership with Diablo: he holds enemies in close combat while she exploits exposed angles, interrupts healing, and attacks movement. She helps defeat the Mutated Carbuncle through precisely timed Piercing Arrows, harasses Orobak from atop Pazuzu’s shield, and accepts Lux’s order to hold two Alpha Monsters for five minutes during the defense of Leaf Village. The limit of her independence is made brutally clear when Lux’s heart stops and she disintegrates with his other summons; her continued existence remains bound to his life even after she has acquired intelligence and a distinct battlefield personality. (Chapters 78, 115, 162, 216)

The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain

After Lux returns, Ishtar resumes her place in a force that is becoming an organized legion rather than a handful of summons. In the Sacred Dungeon she lures skeletons into Diablo’s attacks, joins the coordinated assault on the Death Tyrant, and helps retrieve Iris from a stranger by appearing behind him with a poisoned blade while Diablo confronts him from the front. These scenes show her value beyond raw arrow damage: she creates pressure, protects people important to Lux, and acts in formation with allies whose specialties differ from her own. (Chapters 289, 293, 303)

Her most personal decision in the Hidden Domain comes when a Tyrannosaurus is about to devour a child. Ishtar throws the girl to Lux and deliberately becomes the monster’s target, allowing her body to be bitten in half so the child can escape. She later admits that the destruction hurt “a bit,” but returns to guard Lux, investigate an unknown presence, and recover the Passion Blossom left behind by the Crimson Knight. Against a Rank 5 Abyssal World Boss she and Asmodeus remain beside Lux after the other defenders fall, yet half an hour of fighting barely reduces the creature’s enormous health; devotion and persistence do not erase the rank gap or her vulnerability to destruction. (Chapters 330, 352)

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

As Lux’s responsibilities expand, Ishtar becomes one of the subordinates he trusts to operate beyond his immediate sight. While scouting the Wolfpine Baron’s residence, she identifies a Ranker and uses her final moment before destruction to warn Lux rather than preserve herself. Later, sent under a flag of truce with Diablo and Asmodeus, she suppresses the impulse to return a warning shot because retaliation would compromise their diplomatic mission. She subsequently carries Lux’s declaration of opposition to Jasper, monitors approaching forest warriors with Lazarus, and serves as the cautious intermediary when Great General Garret seeks negotiations. These assignments turn stealth and obedience into strategic responsibility: her reports and judgment shape whether Lux infiltrates, fights, withdraws, or talks. (Chapters 379, 448, 477, 548, 615)

Ishtar also grows into a commander within the legion. She directs the Skeleton Arcane Archers against Aina, though Aina’s High-Ranker speed lets her evade the entire volley and demonstrates the limits of massed fire against a vastly faster target. When Lux becomes a Ranker, Ishtar evolves into a War Goddess and receives his Progenitor blessing alongside his other earliest Named Creatures. She thereafter participates in larger combined barrages with Nightstalkers, Lich Revenants, and other ranged undead, retaining her original specialty while operating at the scale of the mature Heaven’s Gate army. (Chapters 746, 778, 937)

Open Heaven’s Gate

At Lux’s wedding, Ishtar stands with Diablo, Pazuzu, Asmodeus, and the rest of the Named Creatures when Asmodeus challenges anyone who might disrupt the ceremony. No enemy appears and no attack is needed, making the moment a peaceful culmination rather than another battle: the archer first named during a desperate siege is still present at the formation of Lux’s household, prepared to protect his future and the people he has chosen as family. (Chapter 1232)

Appearance and personality

Ishtar first appears as a female skeleton carrying a bow, with the glowing presence and artificial body typical of Lux’s early undead summons. Her Nightstalker phase lets her pass as a hooded traveler until she reveals her undead form. After evolving into a War Goddess, she begins regaining flesh and looks increasingly human, though with the very pale complexion that still marks her undead nature. (Chapters 59, 448, 869)

She is observant, concise, and fiercely loyal. Ishtar normally addresses Lux as “Master” or “My Lord” and executes orders without complaint, but she is not without impulses or judgment: she is tempted to fire an enemy’s warning arrow back at its sender, deliberately restrains herself for the mission’s sake, questions Garret’s request for negotiations, and reacts with concern when an unknown power approaches Lux. Her dry competence is balanced by protective tenderness, most clearly in her self-sacrifice for a child and in her quiet care for Lux after he finishes strengthening the legion. (Chapters 296, 330, 448, 615)

Abilities and combat role

The Forgotten Queen and undead nature

The title The Forgotten Queen is bestowed when Lux names Ishtar. It makes her permanently loyal to him, converts all of her attacks to ice damage capable of slowing or freezing targets, raises her statistics by fifty percent at night, and increases the benefit she receives from Beast Cores by fifty percent. The corpus presents these effects as properties of the title rather than techniques Ishtar consciously activates. Their practical limitation is her summoning bond: Lux’s death causes her body to disintegrate, and after later destruction his Named Creatures require a five-minute interval before they can be summoned again. (Chapters 59, 216, 352)

Her undead body supports methods unavailable to an ordinary archer. Early on, she can disassemble her skeleton, scatter the pieces into position, and rebuild herself behind an enemy line. As a Nightstalker, she instead melds into shadows or turns into black mist to move unseen and reappear elsewhere. These forms make her an excellent infiltrator and ambusher, but concealment does not make her undetectable or durable against superior opponents: a Ranker kills her during the Wolfpine reconnaissance mission, and a World Boss can break her body in one bite. (Chapters 60, 329–330, 379)

Tracking, traps, and reconnaissance

Hunter’s Mark places a tracker on as many as three targets and lets Ishtar locate them while they remain within three miles of her. Set Trap initially permits up to five traps that can bind, injure, or cripple a victim; steel bear traps placed after Orcs enter a forest turn their attempted retreat into a killing ground. Hunter’s Eye further improves her ability to lock onto one target accurately over long distances. Together these skills let Lux convert Ishtar’s observations into ambushes, pursuit routes, and safe approaches, although the mark’s stated range and the limited number of traps prevent them from providing universal surveillance or area denial. (Chapters 59, 67, 101, 318)

Her later scouting is partly skill and partly disciplined fieldcraft. She counts guards, evaluates their strength, searches for escape routes, monitors troop movements, and reports through her connection with Lux. She can also carry written or spoken messages and allow Lux to communicate through her consciousness. The connection gives her exceptional value as a remote agent, but it exposes a hard operational boundary: if she is destroyed or an enemy refuses to negotiate through an intermediary, Lux must either resummon her later or appear personally. (Chapters 379, 477, 548, 615)

Archery and status attacks

Ishtar’s arsenal develops around accurate ranged ice damage. Arrow Shower attacks an area, while Piercing Arrow concentrates force into a target and becomes more effective when paired with ammunition capable of penetrating armor or scales. Siege Stance anchors her for sustained heavy shooting, as shown when she bombards Orobak from Pazuzu’s airborne shield. Her Poison, Stun, Knockback, and Frostfire arrows trade simple damage for control: poison accumulates against high-health enemies, stun interrupts action, knockback can force a target five to ten meters out of position, and her ice-infused shots slow opponents for allied follow-up. (Chapters 67, 107, 111, 115, 165)

Fast Reload, Bow Mastery, Deadly Aim, Precision Shot, and Hunter’s Eye support that active arsenal rather than replacing it. Ishtar’s attacks are most dangerous when Diablo or another defender fixes an enemy in place and gives her a vulnerable angle. Her precision and control effects remain conditional: evasive opponents can avoid volleys, armored enemies can block shots, and enemies far above her current rank can withstand prolonged fire. (Chapters 65, 73, 107, 111, 746)

Close combat and command

Although ranged combat remains Ishtar’s defining specialty, her later form can use twin blades and defend Lux at close quarters. Air Steps and Air Kick provide aerial movement and a short-range option, while her speed as a Nightstalker lets her threaten a stronger stranger from behind before he can hand Iris over. The corpus demonstrates these applications but does not fully explain their costs, durations, or activation rules. (Chapters 107, 303, 330)

By the time Lux’s army fields Skeleton Arcane Archers, Ishtar can command their coordinated volleys. Her order against Aina shows clear control over the formation, while the failed attack also illustrates that command cannot compensate for an insurmountable speed difference. Her War Goddess evolution preserves her ranged role at a higher scale, and later battles place her in combined fire groups with Nightstalkers and Lich Revenants rather than as an isolated shooter. (Chapters 746, 778, 937)

Relationships

  • Lux: Lux is Ishtar’s creator, master, and the anchor of her existence. Her title enforces permanent loyalty, but her actions give that bond practical meaning: she warns him at the cost of her own body, carries his most sensitive messages, protects his loved ones, and remains beside him through his wedding. (Chapters 59, 379, 477, 1232)
  • Diablo: Diablo is Lux’s First Born and Ishtar’s most frequent combat partner. His frontline pressure creates opportunities for her precision attacks, while the two later represent Lux together in diplomatic missions and protect Iris as a coordinated pair. (Chapters 73, 78, 303, 448)
  • Eiko: Eiko regards Ishtar as an older sister rather than an expendable summon. Ishtar fights within Eiko’s family circle, and their shared attachment to Lux makes his apparent death a loss that destroys Ishtar physically and devastates Eiko emotionally. (Chapters 112, 216)
  • Pazuzu: Pazuzu supplies defense and mobility for Ishtar, most vividly when she fires from atop his flying tower shield during the siege of Orobak’s stronghold. Their roles remain complementary as two of Lux’s earliest Named Creatures: he absorbs pressure while she converts the opening into ranged control. (Chapters 115, 162)
  • Asmodeus: Asmodeus supports Ishtar as the legion’s tactician and fellow ranged combatant. They hold back a superior Abyssal World Boss together, undertake diplomatic work with Diablo, and stand together at Lux’s wedding. (Chapters 296, 352, 448, 1232)

Notable encounters and deeds

  • Kobold Nest counterattack: Ishtar hides behind the Kobold formation, warns Lux about its stronger member, and closes the rear with traps and arrows. (Chapter 60)
  • Orobak’s stronghold: From Pazuzu’s shield, she uses multiple status arrows to distract and injure the Orc Chieftain while Lux’s forces strip the stronghold of resources. (Chapter 115)
  • Rescue in the Hidden Domain: She lets a Tyrannosaurus bite her in half after throwing a child to safety, choosing certain bodily destruction to create an escape. (Chapter 330)
  • Wolfpine reconnaissance: She detects a Ranker inside the Baron’s residence and transmits a final warning before the connection to Lux is severed. (Chapter 379)
  • Negotiations with Garret: She confronts the enemy general, relays his proposal, and becomes the channel through which Lux initially answers him. (Chapter 615)
  • War Goddess evolution: Lux’s Ranker breakthrough triggers her evolution and grants her a share of his Progenitor power, confirming her place among his seven earliest Named Creatures. (Chapter 778)
