Cadmus

Cadmus is a Draconian Kobold who begins as a dangerous rival in the territory south of Leaf Village and later leads his clan into Heaven’s Gate. His strength, survival instinct, and capacity to cooperate carry him from Rank 5 Alpha Monster to Empyrean defender in the final war. (Chapters 92, 155, 417, 1208)

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Cadmus first corners Lux with overwhelming physical force and leaves him with a threat rather than killing him. Circumstances then trap their groups together during a Dungeon Outbreak, where Cadmus rejects his followers’ enthusiasm for glorious death and runs for survival beside Lux. He respects Keoza too deeply to attack the Dragon guardian and later loses their competitive stronghold battle when Lux provokes him into breaking its rules. (Chapters 92, 143, 149, 155)

The rivalry establishes a grudging boundary. Cadmus remains angry but recognizes that Lux’s honorary status makes murder politically dangerous and that his own Rank 5 strength does not protect him beyond Norria. He therefore continues exploring the Savage Lands and delays wider travel until reaching Deimos Rank. That self-awareness keeps him alive long enough for the Kobold clan’s later alliance with Heaven’s Gate. (Chapters 143, 149, 164, 417)

The rescue from the Abyss and the final war

By the final war, Cadmus is an Empyrean-Ranked member of Heaven’s Gate whose clan enjoys a golden age on Edea. Fighting beside Sid and Scarlet, he targets troublesome enemies without challenging higher ranks recklessly, obeys tactical warnings, and uses Dragon Breath to cancel an attack on the guild headquarters. His old survival instinct has matured into disciplined defense of the community that empowered his people. (Chapter 1208)

Cadmus dies during the final struggle but appears among the souls encouraging Lux, openly admitting that sparing the once-weak Half-Elf allowed his clan to reach World’s End. He helps rally Lux, joins the cathartic punishment of Daniel, and is then restored through true resurrection by the Five Pillars. His endpoint is reconciliation grounded in mutual benefit, not the erasure of his abrasive pride. (Chapters 1216, 1217, 1221)

Appearance and personality

Cadmus is a hulking Draconian Kobold with claws, wings, razor-sharp teeth, and enough physical strength to hold Lux in a vice grip. He is intimidating, proud, cynical about pointless sacrifice, and ambitious about raising his rank before exposing himself to stronger outsiders. Later friendship does not make him sentimental, but it does let his caution serve collective survival rather than only himself. (Chapters 92, 143, 149, 155)

Abilities and skills

Cadmus begins as a Rank 5 Alpha Monster with flight, powerful close combat, and Dragon Breath strong enough to threaten Lux’s forces; even Lux’s combined breath attack is something he avoids facing directly. By the final war he reaches Empyrean Rank, can nullify an incoming breath attack with his own, and uses aerial mobility and physical attacks against selected battlefield targets. (Chapters 155, 164, 1208, 1221)

Rank does not remove his limitations. Cadmus knows he is merely a winged lizard beside true Dragons, avoids leaving Norria before sufficient advancement, and cannot ignore control effects: Diablo’s Duel forces him to redirect attacks, while Lux’s Polytoad transformation exploits a rule violation to remove him from the match. In the final war he still avoids opponents above his rank and depends on team coordination. (Chapters 143, 155, 1208)
