Biography

Isrock, the New World, and the Lunar Scourge

Xi Ling meets Ling Chen after the Lunar Scourge breaks the seal holding her beneath Lonely Spirit Ridge. Appearing as a red-clad girl, she introduces herself with open affection, creates the supposedly extinct Flaming Black Grass he needs, and shields him from the War Demon Beast. Her gratitude is specific: he returned her freedom without knowing her identity, and she tries to repay that act by completing his quest and ordering him to escape while she holds the demon back. (Chapters 105–108)

Unable to defeat the War Demon Beast at her reduced strength, Xi Ling burns her remaining life force to invoke Heavenly Wrath of the Nine Suns. The attack destroys the demon and would extinguish her as well. Ling Chen refuses to abandon the dying bird and accepts a pet bond that ties her recovery and life to his own. She revives as the Heaven’s End-grade Crimson Spirit, no longer able to maintain human form, while her resemblance to the Golden Crow’s power leaves her deeper origin unresolved. (Chapters 109–113)

Heart’s Dream and the First Guild

Xi Ling’s creation of the Flaming Black Grass makes Ling Chen’s Azure Dragon City quest possible, and he treats her sacrifice as more important than the official reward. When he later reveals her to Heart’s Dream, she immediately changes the group’s training capacity. A single sweep of her flames can clear dense monster groups, allowing inexperienced companions to gain experience safely while Xiao Hui consumes the bodies and converts the remains into useful resources. (Chapters 114, 131–136)

Her effectiveness also exposes her extreme specialization. Xi Ling carries immense magical attack and mana, regenerates mana steadily, and can burn enemies far above the group’s normal targets; however, frequent area spells still have high costs, and her health and defense are abnormally low. Ling Chen consequently uses her overwhelming offense as the center of a controlled training system rather than treating her as an invulnerable guardian. The group benefits most when others keep threats from reaching her. (Chapters 131–165)

The Road South and the Fairy Realm

The life-force sacrifice has not been fully repaired by the pet bond. Xi Ling can persist for only a limited period, so Ling Chen abandons ordinary progression and travels south toward the Vermillion Bird. His urgency reflects reciprocity rather than ownership: Xi Ling died to save him, and he regards every delay as a step toward her permanent death. Her physical absence during most of the journey becomes a continuing pressure behind his route through the Fairy Realm and toward Vermillion Bird City. (Chapters 221–285)

The Vermillion Bird agrees to exchange its own life for Xi Ling’s, asking Ling Chen to find a human Flame Soul so its lineage can also be passed onward. Xiao Qi, whose Heavenly Sun Arteries threaten her life, accepts that inheritance. The arrangement saves both girls in different ways: Xi Ling receives rebirth through the guardian’s sacrifice, while Xiao Qi gains a future and flame power. Xi Ling later returns larger and stronger, carrying Xiao Qi back toward their companions. (Chapters 290–305, 559–560)

Calamity in the East Ocean Continent

Xi Ling does not accompany Ling Chen through the East Ocean campaign because her recovery and the southern inheritance remain unfinished. Her absence is repeatedly felt in tactical comparisons: Ling Chen imagines how quickly her wings could erase armies and how Leng’Er could turn the resulting bodies into skeleton soldiers. She remains an expected future member of the team rather than an active participant, and Ling Chen rejects other attack pets partly because he believes Xi Ling alone will fill that role when she returns. The campaign also clarifies her place among his companions. Xiao Hui is almost entirely defensive support, Leng’Er focuses on control, and Xi Ling is pure fire offense with very little self-protection. Her Lunar Scourge rescue is remembered when similar seals appear, linking her freedom to Ling Chen’s later breakthroughs. These references do not establish new abilities during her absence; they define the tactical gap left by a pet whose damage is extraordinary precisely because her attributes are so narrowly concentrated. The Defense and Founding of Ling Tian City

Xi Ling reappears above the battlefield carrying Xiao Qi, recognizes Yun Meng Xin, and helps the returning girl attack the Yan Huang Alliance from a height ordinary troops cannot reach. Her flight converts Xiao Qi’s new fire magic into mobile bombardment while shielding her from ground attacks. This return joins the two lives preserved by the Vermillion Bird’s decision and provides Ling Tian City with an aerial response at the moment its defenders are being overwhelmed. (Chapters 559–562)

When new forces threaten the people below, Xi Ling stops acting only as Xiao Qi’s mount. She breaks away, retrieves Yun Feng, and carries him to Yun Meng Xin and Li Xiao Xue, choosing the familiar people she can save when she cannot protect everyone. Later she rejoins Ling Chen as the city’s principal mass-damage companion. Her decisions show awareness and loyalty independent of spoken orders even while she remains in bird form. The Underworld and the Forgotten City

In the Underworld, Ling Chen initially withholds Xi Ling from unknown hazards because her poor defenses make environmental damage potentially fatal. Once he understands the Path of Darkness, he summons her to eliminate dense undead formations, pairing her Heaven-Burning Flames with his own area attacks. This caution defines the proper use of her power: she is ideal when enemies can be contained or distracted, but an unseen drain or sudden high-grade strike can kill her before healing matters. (Chapters 641–644)

Against the Underworld fiends, Xi Ling adds ranged fire while Ling Chen freezes or engages the targets directly. Solar Laser contributes focused damage, while broader flames clear swarms that would exhaust a single fighter. Cai’Er and the other companions provide healing or control around her. She is therefore devastating but not self-sufficient; even after her resurrection and growth, Ling Chen must choose safe summoning windows and sometimes place himself between Xi Ling and an incoming attack. The Moon God Palace and the Shura’s Return

Xi Ling again makes high-level training almost effortless before the Moon God Palace crisis, but Heaven’s Jealousy reduces her to level zero along with Ling Chen’s other pets. Summoned into Lunar Sky Hell, she appears in human form and can speak, confirming that her restored power has again crossed the transformation threshold. Despite the reset, her magical attack remains exceptional, and Ling Chen immediately assigns her and Snow Cherry as the primary attackers against the ancient beasts. (Chapters 727–745)

Defeating high-grade monsters rapidly restores Xi Ling to level forty-four and then much higher, though Lunar Sky Hell periodically removes levels from the entire group. She remains wary of enemies beyond their ability and fights as part of a coordinated formation rather than relying on nominal grade alone. This phase demonstrates both recovery speed and systemic vulnerability: her base power survives a level reset, but progression penalties, overwhelming monsters, and her low durability still constrain how freely she can be deployed. Xiya and the Perfect Moon

After Earth is restored, Xi Ling accompanies Ling Chen during punitive attacks on the regions that invaded the Forgotten Continent, raining fire while Leng’Er supplies summoned troops. The episode confirms that her offensive role remains intact after the Godchild crisis, although it also places her power inside Ling Chen’s collective retaliation rather than an independent cause. The text provides no separate account of how she evaluates the targets or collateral consequences of those attacks. (Chapter 842)

Years later, Ling Chen includes Xi Ling when arranging certificates for his household, and Cai’Er notes that Xi Ling and Leng’Er already possess the same recognition others are receiving. Xi Ling also remains subject to pet-space rules: unless summoned or specifically permitted, she cannot observe the outside world. Her latest supported state is alive, humanoid-capable, and integrated into Ling Chen’s family, but the ending gives no new final flame form or quantified power ceiling. (Chapters 847–848)

Appearance and personality

Xi Ling’s true combat body is an extraordinarily beautiful crimson bird with the head and tail of a phoenix and the body of a Vermillion Bird. Her feathers blaze red or gold as her power rises, and her later restored form is larger than the bird Heart’s Dream first knew. At sufficient strength she becomes a young girl in a flame-red dress with clear, faintly glowing red eyes. Her childlike human form initially indicates that even her ancient sovereign species has not fully matured. (Chapters 105–113, 559–560, 744)

She is affectionate, sincere, brave, and intensely reciprocal. Xi Ling follows Ling Chen because he frees her, risks final death to save him, and later treats his friends as people worth rescuing. In battle she can shift from warm eagerness to cold resolve, particularly against demon beasts. She is also tactically alert: she withdraws from an approaching force, selects people she can save, and shows wariness when Lunar Sky Hell answers one death with many hostile cries. Abilities and powers

Crimson Spirit physiology

Xi Ling is the Crimson Spirit, described as a descendant of the Golden Crow and a former Saint Destroyer-level being whose exact species history remains uncertain. After her first rebirth she falls to Heaven’s End grade and loses human transformation until her power recovers. Her fire is generated from her soul and does not need natural flame or spoken incantations. It ignores ordinary fire resistance, though a target’s actual elemental weakness still modifies the result normally. (Chapters 110–113, 298–305)

Her attributes are built almost entirely around magic attack and mana. Even at level zero she has enormous offensive statistics and a large mana pool with percentage-based regeneration, but extremely low health and physical defense. Flight, speed, and range help keep her safe; they do not constitute damage immunity. Draining environments and sudden attacks remain especially dangerous, and Ling Chen sometimes refuses to summon her until he knows the battlefield will not kill her immediately. Flame techniques

Flame Attack and Wild Flames provide repeatable short- and medium-range area damage. Red Laser, later represented by stronger solar-laser techniques, locks concentrated heat onto a single target, while Heaven-Burning Flames and Burning Fire Array destroy large formations. The array requires a casting period, consumes a substantial portion of her mana, and has a long cooldown. Her best results come against clustered enemies held away from her fragile body, not in an unsupported close-range duel. (Chapters 112–113, 131–165, 560–563, 643–646)

Nine Sun Rebirth lets Xi Ling return after death at full health, but prevents her from fighting for a period afterward. Heavenly Wrath of the Nine Suns is far more dangerous: it releases her source power as sun-like flames over a vast selected field. When she lacks the mature strength to sustain it, forcing the technique kills her once the flames end, as at Lonely Spirit Ridge. Later growth improves her ordinary arsenal, but the corpus does not confirm that the suicidal cost has vanished at her latest state. (Chapters 109–113, 298–305)

Transformation and support use

Human transformation originally requires the Saint Destroyer threshold for a non-dragon beast, which Xi Ling loses after binding her remaining spirit to Ling Chen. Her humanoid appearance in Lunar Sky Hell confirms that she eventually regains the capability, though the exact chapter and mechanism of that restoration are not shown. In bird form she also functions as an aerial mount, carrying Xiao Qi and rescuing allies, but teleport scrolls do not transport her normally. (Chapters 111–113, 559–563, 744)

Relationships

• Ling Chen frees Xi Ling, accepts her chosen companionship, and crosses the continent to repay her sacrifice. Their pet bond ties her recovery to his life, but her independent rescues and voluntary loyalty give the relationship more substance than system ownership alone. (Chapters 105–113, 221–305, 559–596)
• Xiao Qi receives the Vermillion Bird’s flame inheritance as part of the arrangement that saves Xi Ling. They return together and fight as an aerial pair, joining Xi Ling’s rebirth to the cure for Xiao Qi’s fatal Flame Soul condition. (Chapters 298–305, 559–563)
• Xiao Hui is her complementary support partner. Xi Ling kills groups with fire; Xiao Hui consumes the bodies, strengthens the team, and turns her destruction into continued growth and resources. (Chapters 131–136, 727–747)

The Flaming Black Grass she creates is delivered to Ling Chen for his quest, and the Vermillion Bird’s feather is likewise held by Ling Chen as the signal for the resurrection arrangement.
