Isrock, the New World, and the Lunar Scourge

Xiao Hui hatches from the egg Tao Tie entrusted to Ling Chen and immediately attaches himself to Ling Tian without any possibility of betrayal. His appraisal identifies him as a Celestial-grade Holy Spirit Beast with a docile nature, immense vitality, and no direct combat ability. Ling Chen is initially disappointed, but Xiao Hui’s unusual immunity to ordinary hostility and his self-sustaining defenses make clear that Tao Tie intended him to provide a different kind of strength. (Chapter 68)

That strength becomes visible when Xiao Hui devours fallen plant fairies, grows from their bodies, and refines what he cannot absorb into permanent attribute items. He also senses threats before Ling Chen can see them, physically blocks his path to warn him, and tests a trapped bridge when his master hesitates. During the Hall of Heroic Souls trial, those warnings and his reading of hidden enemies establish a partnership based on information and survival rather than damage. (Chapters 69–73)

Heart’s Dream and the First Guild

When Ling Chen first summons Xiao Hui and Xi Ling before Heart’s Dream, their roles are immediately complementary. Xi Ling burns groups of monsters while Xiao Hui races beneath her, consuming the corpses before they disappear. His work turns otherwise wasted remains into growth and resources, letting Ling Chen’s companions benefit from unusually efficient training. Although observers associate both pets with the devastation, Xiao Hui still does not attack; he converts the aftermath into continued momentum. (Chapters 131–135)

Ling Chen comes to describe Xi Ling and Xiao Hui as a “money-making pair” because the cycle produces experience, drops, refined materials, and saleable crystals with little downtime. Xiao Hui’s steady leveling also improves the passive blessings shared with his owner. This phase changes Ling Chen’s understanding of support: Xiao Hui is not a lesser substitute for an attacker, but an economic and mechanical multiplier whose value increases with the quantity and quality of creatures the group can defeat. (Chapters 132–136)

The Road South and the Fairy Realm

On the southern journey, Xiao Hui continues refining elemental corpses into resistance crystals while sharing his growing Holy Spirit abilities with Ling Chen. His treasure sense draws the group toward the Lucky Cat, and the Eye of the Holy Spirit transmits the elusive creature’s information from a distance. That discovery lets Ling Chen acquire Lucky Hand, while Holy Spirit’s Gift raises the copied skill despite its difficult advancement requirements. Xiao Hui thus opens opportunities that neither exploration nor combat strength alone would reveal. (Chapters 229–233)

Reaching level twenty upgrades Xiao Hui’s shield, aura, and gift, and the resulting passive skill increases substantially strengthen Ling Chen before he enters the Fairy Forest. Xiao Hui’s contribution does not require constant summoning: the aura and gift remain effective while he is recalled, so his growth permanently changes his owner’s baseline. At the same time, he must still follow the group into dangerous regions to detect treasures, read unfamiliar beings, and consume bodies needed for his own development. (Chapters 241–268)

Calamity in the East Ocean Continent

By level thirty, Xiao Hui’s Eye and Aura have advanced further, and newly learned Feng Chen skills receive immediate levels from his Gift. In the East Ocean Continent, Ling Chen summons him whenever an underground route or unfamiliar territory makes ordinary sight unreliable. Xiao Hui leads through a hidden passage, detects the nearby treasure, and returns partial information on the Evil Black Dragon. His refusal to advance closer communicates danger even when the appraisal cannot pierce a vastly superior target. (Chapters 403–418)

His work also remains materially productive: devouring the Golden Battle Bear yields an HP crystal, showing that stronger corpses do not guarantee an item Ling Chen personally needs. This is an important limitation on Soul Devour’s value. Xiao Hui can refine attributes associated with the dead creature, but he does not freely select the result. During the orb hunt, his reliable functions are therefore direction, warning, appraisal, and post-battle conversion, while Ling Chen remains responsible for deciding whether the detected reward justifies the risk. The Defense and Founding of Ling Tian City

During the search for the White Tiger, Xiao Hui tracks the guardian through an active lightning field. His small body, high movement speed, and agility let him avoid hazards that complicate Ling Chen’s approach. Once close, his Eye provides the White Tiger’s complete information despite the usual level restriction because both creatures’ power traces back to the Holy Qilin. The exception suggests that Xiao Hui’s identity carries inherited recognition, not merely a stronger version of ordinary monster appraisal. (Chapters 519–523)

The dying White Tiger addresses Xiao Hui in terms that make Ling Chen question whether the puppy-like Holy Spirit Beast is the Holy Qilin itself or its continuation. Xiao Hui’s presence also gives Ling Chen enough confidence to accept the guardian’s transfer of the Thunder God’s Bulwark. The chapters establish a direct spiritual relationship but do not fully explain Xiao Hui’s origin, memory, or eventual maturation, so the Holy Qilin identification remains strongly implied rather than completely resolved. The Underworld and the Forgotten City

Xiao Hui discovers the Underworld entrance in the Ghastly Grounds and becomes Ling Chen’s guide after they cross it. The dim terrain repeatedly defeats ordinary navigation; when Ling Chen becomes distracted, Xiao Hui corrects routes that have drifted badly off course. He also appraises the Underworld Gods from afar, although their overwhelming levels restrict the result to names and grades. His Eye supplies actionable information without pretending to overcome every difference in power. (Chapters 636–640)

On the Paths of Shadows and Darkness, Xiao Hui warns of unseen threats before descent and sends multiple enemy profiles to Ling Chen inside near-total blackness. Monsters normally ignore him because his peaceful aura does not provoke hostility, allowing him to remain functional while the rest of the party is attacked. That protection is not an offensive answer: Ling Chen must still freeze or defeat the assailants, and Xiao Hui’s safety would not prevent companions from dying to an area-wide threat. (Chapters 641–658)

The Moon God Palace and the Shura’s Return

Before the Moon God Palace operation, Xiao Hui again works with Xi Ling to process high-level monsters efficiently. Heaven’s Jealousy later forces his level down to zero along with Ling Chen’s other pet losses, demonstrating that his defensive shield does not protect progression from system-level punishment. Summoned into the Lunar Sky Hell, he immediately resumes his established role: identifying ancient monsters, protecting the more vulnerable companions, and consuming bodies after the attackers defeat them. (Chapters 727–746)

The group’s victories rapidly restore Xiao Hui to level forty-four, but the episode underlines his dependence on a combat-capable team. Ling Chen explicitly assigns him to protect Cai’Er and the others rather than damage the Celestial beasts, while Xi Ling, Snow Cherry, and Leng’Er handle attack and control. His aura, information, survivability, and corpse conversion make the team stronger than its visible attackers alone, yet none turns him into a conventional fighter. (Chapters 744–747)

Xiya and the Perfect Moon

The final direct reference confirms that Xiao Hui remains one of Ling Chen’s bonded companions alongside Xi Ling, Leng’Er, and Snow Cherry. When they are not summoned, they cannot see events outside their pet space unless Ling Chen permits it. Xiao Hui is therefore still present during the transition toward Xiya, but he is not an independent witness to Ling Chen’s conversations about Rashu, Qi Yue, or the Perfect Moon. (Chapter 848)

The supplied ending gives Xiao Hui no separate transformation, departure, or resolution of the Holy Qilin mystery. His latest supported state is consequently the same durable support relationship established at hatching: attached to Ling Chen, available to be summoned, and restricted by the owner-mediated pet space. Any claim that he awakens as the complete Holy Qilin, gains a final combat form, or independently settles on Xiya would go beyond the available evidence. (Chapter 848)

Appearance and personality

Xiao Hui resembles a small grey puppy rather than a legendary beast. He has a petite body, a horn that shines when he senses or examines something, and enough speed to dart ahead of mounted travelers. The mismatch is intentional: characters repeatedly struggle to reconcile his harmless appearance with Celestial grade, extraordinary defenses, and a possible connection to the Holy Qilin. His body does not visibly swell after devouring corpses many times larger than himself. (Chapters 68–70, 232–233, 519–524)

He is peaceful, affectionate, curious, and eager for approval. Xiao Hui happily runs around Ling Chen, celebrates praise, and shows excitement when a corpse can be consumed. He dislikes fighting and lacks attack skills, but docility does not mean passivity: he steps in front of danger, scratches at Ling Chen’s clothing to direct attention, and charges ahead to test routes. His loyalty is automatic in system terms and consistently expressed through attentive behavior. (Chapters 68–73, 523–524)

Abilities and powers

Holy Spirit body and Shield

Xiao Hui’s peaceful aura makes even evil creatures reluctant to attack him unless he provokes them, while his base agility and movement speed let him scout hazardous ground. Holy Spirit Shield initially reduces all received damage, prevents a lethal blow from killing him when his health begins above a threshold, restores health continuously, and grants several lossless revivals per day. At level forty, its documented level-three state reduces incoming damage by fifty percent, preserves one health point against a lethal blow when he begins above half health, restores five percent health per second, and permits three lossless on-the-spot revivals per day. The corpus does not show a later upgrade beyond that state. (Chapters 68, 241, 449, and 745–747)

These protections are personal rather than a universal party barrier. They keep Xiao Hui available to support others, but do not stop allies from taking damage, and system punishments such as Heaven’s Jealousy can still erase his levels. He also has no native damaging attack with which to exploit his survivability. Against wide-area force, his resistance may let him outlast companions without giving him a way to defeat the source. (Chapters 68, 641–642, 743–747)

Soul Devour

Soul Devour is Xiao Hui’s growth mechanism. He consumes the bodies of dead creatures instead of sharing his owner’s experience, absorbs what he can use, and refines the remainder into an item matching the target’s attributes. Results range from resistance and health crystals to permanent attribute items, so repeated hunting converts defeated enemies into both Xiao Hui’s development and resources for Ling Chen. Higher-grade bodies can yield more valuable products, but the exact output is not chosen in advance. (Chapters 68–69, 229, 404)

The ability needs a usable corpse. Undead that dissipate before consumption leave him visibly disappointed, and bodies incinerated into nothing cannot fuel the process. Xiao Hui also cannot create a desired attribute from an unrelated creature; the Golden Battle Bear, for example, produces an HP crystal of little immediate value to Ling Chen. Soul Devour is powerful post-battle support, not an execution skill or guaranteed source of rare equipment. (Chapters 71, 135, 404, 727)

Aura, Gift, and Eye of the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit’s Aura raises Luck and Comprehension for Xiao Hui, his owner, and allied pets, remaining active even when he is not summoned. Holy Spirit’s Gift raises the levels of Ling Chen’s upgradeable skills and also applies to suitable skills acquired later; it does nothing for a skill already at its maximum. Both abilities improve as Xiao Hui reaches level thresholds, allowing one support pet to alter the performance of every profession Ling Chen later obtains. (Chapters 69, 233, 241–242, 403)

The Eye of the Holy Spirit appraises creatures and objects, senses treasure, transmits information directly to Ling Chen, and functions where darkness or distance defeats ordinary sight. Its range and depth improve with levels, but a sufficiently powerful target can restrict the reading to incomplete information. Special spiritual affinity can bypass that limit, as with the White Tiger’s connection to the Holy Qilin. The Eye locates and explains opportunities; it does not decide whether approaching them is safe. (Chapters 232–233, 417–421, 519–523, 636–642)

Relationships

• Ling Chen is Xiao Hui’s owner and primary partner. Xiao Hui attaches himself permanently, guides him toward danger and treasure, strengthens every compatible skill set, and converts the results of Ling Chen’s victories into further growth. Ling Chen moves from initial disappointment to complete reliance on his support. (Chapters 68–73, 232–242, 403–421)
• Xi Ling is his most frequent combat partner. Her flames defeat groups rapidly while Xiao Hui preserves and consumes the bodies, creating an efficient attack-and-conversion cycle. In Lunar Sky Hell, her destructive role and his protective support remain clearly divided. (Chapters 131–136, 727–747)
• Leng’Er, Cai’Er, and Snow Cherry form the broader pet party around him. Xiao Hui supplies information and passive benefits, protects the vulnerable members when ordered, and relies on their control, healing, movement, and attack abilities to cover functions he lacks. Items

Xiao Hui has no signature carried item in the article ledger. His mechanically important products are the crystals and permanent attribute objects refined through Soul Devour, but these are outputs passed to Ling Chen rather than named personal possessions. His egg is the form in which Tao Tie entrusts him to Ling Chen, not equipment he continues to carry after hatching. (Chapters 68–69)
