Jenna

Jenna, whose real name is Celia Bello, is a Trierien singer and actress who becomes one of Lumian Lee's closest companions. The death of her mother turns her from a working-class performer into an Assassin willing to risk her life against the powers exploiting Trier's poor. Under Franca Roland's mentorship, she follows the Demoness pathway as a rare woman born female, accepts the Tarot Club identity Seven of Cups, and becomes a central member of Lumian's team. Her insistence on remaining a pure female Demoness eventually places her at the center of the special mirror world's deepest danger; she knowingly sacrifices herself to save Lumian and is later restored as one of the coordinated consciousnesses of the Origins of Disaster.

Biography

Trier's stage and underworld

Celia Bello grew up in a family repeatedly pushed toward ruin by injury, low wages, and debt. Her father died after a workplace accident, leaving her mother Elodie to work several jobs while Celia and her elder brother Julien trained for employable trades. Celia studied acting at the Théâtre de l'Ancienne Cage à Pigeons and secretly earned money in market-district dance halls under the stage name Jenna, dyeing her naturally flaxen hair brownish-yellow so her family would not recognize the “Little Minx” advertised as a Showy Diva. The coarse language, false beauty mole, flirtation, and revealing costumes were partly a consciously maintained role; away from the stage she could be refined, attentive, and proud of the lessons her mother had given her about enduring darkness until sunrise. Her first involvement with Lumian began when a bestowed of the Mother Tree of Desire abducted her. Lumian followed the trail and killed the attacker, but Jenna's alarm quickly gave way to curiosity about the supernatural methods he concealed from her. Their rough banter developed into practical trust through the market district's crises. Jenna helped investigate the Bliss Society and the Tree of Shadow incident, followed Lumian when his instability worried her, and proved willing to carry a revolver, conceal her identity, and enter danger rather than remain a passive victim. Franca, already her close friend and protector, became the bridge between Jenna's ordinary life and the hidden world in which Lumian operated. (Chapters 1592–1599 and 1643–1653)

That separation from the supernatural ended after the Goodville Chemical Factory explosion. Elodie survived the initial blast and poisoning, but learned that months of treatment would burden her children with crushing debt and leave her unable to work. She jumped from the hospital while Jenna was returning with food. Jenna's grief hardened into fury at the factory, the political system protecting its owners, and Hugues Artois, whose evil-god-backed campaign had benefited from the disaster. Franca gave her an Assassin potion, and Jenna rapidly digested it by stalking Artois's movements and preparing to kill him. During the Tree of Shadow catastrophe she entered his banquet, accepted that she would probably die, and drove a long-handled silver fork through his eye and into his brain. Official Beyonders secretly favored the result and let her escape rather than turn the assassination into a public prosecution. (Chapters 1677–1696)

Survival did not erase the consequences. Jenna had to help Julien recover from the malign influence that had amplified his guilt, continue earning money, and live with recurrent dreams of their mother. The Purifiers recruited her as a paid informant, allowing her to investigate the network behind Artois while obtaining formulas and ingredients. She advanced to Sequence 8 Instigator after accepting that words could be used against criminals without indiscriminately harming ordinary people. Joining Lumian, Franca, and Anthony Reid against Guillaume Bénet and General Philip linked her personal revenge to their larger struggle: Artois's patronage, Anthony's betrayed wartime company, and the conspiracies beneath Trier were parts of the same hidden structure. The Demoness path and chosen family

Jenna advanced to Sequence 7 Witch in the catacombs, using a small sacrificial square that reduced the Primordial Demoness's interference. She paid for the ingredients herself and prayed to both the Eternal Blazing Sun and Mr. Fool, recognizing that her survival now depended on companions outside her childhood faith. During the advancement, the remnant of Krismona—a powerful Demoness born female—reacted to her. That contact revealed both an opportunity and a threat: Jenna's sex made her valuable to powers investigating the special mirror world, but the Demoness Sect despised women who advanced naturally instead of being transformed by the Witch potion. The newly formed Witch did not remain a protected apprentice. She fought through sealed Fourth Epoch Trier, mirror-world incidents, the April Fool's plots, the Southern Continent, and operations against the forces behind Project Vortex. Her black flames, frost, mirror substitutions, and willingness to serve as bait repeatedly kept the team alive. In return, the group ceased treating her as Franca's less experienced friend and incorporated her into planning as an equal. She became the Tarot Club's Seven of Cups, participated in Minor Arcana operations, and helped make decisions about when to summon higher support rather than allowing pride to turn danger into needless sacrifice. Her bond with Lumian and Franca became both the team's emotional center and a source of pain. Franca loved Jenna, while Jenna loved Lumian and valued Franca without sharing the same romantic orientation. Jenna nevertheless helped Franca digest the Pleasure potion and later asked Lumian to help with her own, arguing from acting principles and team strength while admitting the personal desire beneath the calculation. Lumian's agreement wounded Franca, forcing all three to confront feelings that had been deferred for the sake of operations. The result was not a clean romantic resolution but a more honest chosen family: jealousy and hurt remained, yet none abandoned the others, and their intimacy became part of the mental resonance supporting Lumian's later team powers. Jenna advanced through Sequence 6 Demoness of Pleasure and Sequence 5 Demoness of Affliction while continuing to protect Julien and train with the team. Each step intensified the danger of her unusual nature. After Krismona warned of a “terrifying matter,” Lumian offered her the option of switching to the Hunter pathway, which would have removed the special quality of being a pure female Demoness. Jenna refused. She understood that the quality might be exploited, but believed being valuable to stronger figures could bring resources, protection, and rapid advancement before the apocalypse. Her choice was neither ignorance nor faith that no trap existed; it was a deliberate gamble to become strong enough to protect family and friends while she still had time. Dream City and the approaching apocalypse

Jenna entered Klein Moretti's dream with Lumian, Franca, Anthony, and Ludwig, where all of them were suppressed near Sequence 7 and had to learn the logic of a modern city. She took the identity Jian Na and used her genuine acting training to gain work at Hall Film Company. Outside that cover, she surveilled Zhou Mingrui and the people around him, shared childcare duties for Ludwig, used divination and mirror magic to check for technological surveillance, and helped the group distinguish dream manifestations from outside intruders. The dream also externalized a freer version of her aspirations: her dream self wanted to become a successful actress rather than merely survive as a dance-hall singer. (Chapters 2333–2358 and 2396)

Her most important dream operations joined caution with decisive rescue. Jenna helped create successive mirror doubles for the assault on Zaratulstra, supported the infiltration of Mushu Hospital's lower levels, and protected Luo Shan amid monsters and mystical disease. When the high-speed-rail operation destabilized the dream, Jenna rushed toward Luo Shan even as the station dissolved. She failed to reach her before the dream manifestation vanished, but carried Luo Shan's request to be remembered. The mission helped awaken Mr. Fool and fully digest Jenna's remaining Affliction potion through the pain she experienced and caused, while the loss reaffirmed that becoming stronger could not guarantee saving everyone. After leaving the dream, Jenna investigated Krismona directly and confirmed that the greatest danger awaited a pure female Demoness at Sequence 3 Demoness of Unaging, not at Sequence 4. She therefore completed the Demoness of Despair ritual in Morora, spreading plague through a crowd of serious criminals and consuming the potion while Mr. Fool's gray fog concealed the advancement from the Primordial Demoness. As a demigod, she became the Sick Church's Pope, helped turn its altered doctrine and relief work into anchors for the team, protected Julien's future, and prepared for the apocalypse while knowing that even Sequence 4 power might be inadequate. The trap within her path finally closed when Lumian was being consumed in the special mirror world. Amon explained that Jenna's progression, access to three mirror-world fragments, and evasion of the Demoness Sect had been arranged to make her a possible sacrifice. She was explicitly free to refuse, and success was uncertain, but forcibly advancing to Demoness of Unaging could transfer the mirrored terror onto her and break the barrier around Lumian. Furious at having been treated as a puppet yet unwilling to abandon him, Jenna chose the fatal advancement. She asked Anthony to tell Franca to live well, embraced a mirror self equally willing to die, and was destroyed before the mirrored terror could fully awaken. Mr. Fool grafted her surviving soul fragments into Lumian; later, imprints preserved in the mirror repaired them as Lumian accommodated the City of Calamity. Jenna awoke as a distinct consciousness within the Origins of Disaster, survived the apocalypse in that shared existence, attended Julien's wedding, and by the corpus's end again sang in a restored Cordu dream. Appearance and personality

Before becoming a Beyonder, Jenna is an attractive young woman with blue eyes, naturally flaxen hair dyed brownish-yellow, and a figure she accentuates in bright, revealing stage costumes. Her false beauty mole changes position as part of her performance: near the eye for passion, by the lips for allure, and at the décolletage for secrets. As Celia, she favors simpler clothes and a cleaner presentation; as Jenna, she uses perfume, sequins, flirtation, and practiced movement to hold a noisy dance hall's attention. Advancement along the Demoness pathway progressively refines her appearance and supernatural charm. As a Witch she has slightly darker flaxen hair, clearer blue eyes, and beauty that can be concealed only with deliberate disguise. As a Demoness of Pleasure, even simple clothing outlines a near-perfect figure and her gaze carries an instinctive allure that affects observers without conscious activation. Higher advancements deepen her hair and eye color and make ordinary public movement difficult without hats, veils, makeup, or mystical disguise. After restoration within the Origins of Disaster, her form and charm rise to the level of that great existence, though she can appear in an ordinary light dress when living within dreams. Jenna is foul-mouthed, quick to laugh, proud, and intensely proactive. Her stage vulgarity begins partly as acting, but repeated danger makes its directness part of her ordinary speech. She calls her own courage recklessness, recognizes that she is prone to going all-in, and would rather make an imperfect decision than wait helplessly. This impulsiveness leads her into assassination, risky advancements, and emotionally complicated choices, yet she is capable of patient surveillance, bargaining, and self-analysis when other lives depend on her judgment. Her central motive is protection born from poverty and bereavement. Elodie's death teaches her that good intentions without power cannot shield a family from institutions, cults, or debt. She consequently treats danger, usefulness, and strength as resources to be negotiated, while retaining sympathy for ordinary people caught in the same mire. Her final sacrifice follows the same logic as killing Artois: she hates the arrangement and fears death, but refuses to let the person responsible continue laughing—or let a loved one die—when she still has an action available. Pathways and abilities

Jenna follows the Demoness pathway from Sequence 9 Assassin through Sequence 4 Demoness of Despair. Her progression is unusually dangerous because she was born female: the pathway's transformation at Witch does not create her sex, and this “pure female Demoness” status resonates with Krismona and the special mirror world's hidden symbolism. Before each major advancement she relies on acting, ritual conditions, external concealment, and her companions' support; potion digestion accelerates when her lived choices genuinely embody the Sequence rather than when she mechanically imitates its title. Assassin and Instigator

The Assassin potion reshapes Jenna for stealth and killing. It improves balance, speed, agility, bodily control, perception, and the ability to hide in shadows, letting a previously ordinary singer infiltrate guarded places, tail targets, and strike vulnerable points. Its change to appearance is slight and primarily serves the more suitable body shape. Jenna digests it by planning and carrying out the assassination of Hugues Artois; the pathway supplies means, but the successful attack still depends on disguise, timing, concealed weapons, and her willingness to accept gunfire and death after the strike. At Sequence 8, Instigation allows Jenna to exploit emotions and predispositions through speech. It is not unconditional mind control: an argument must fit the target's existing concerns, and perceptive or resistant targets may recognize the push. Jenna therefore combines it with acting and social judgment, as when she persuades Purifiers by appealing to their duty rather than openly applying a crude mystical command. The ability can incite anger, conflict, risky decisions, or cooperation, but her reluctance to harm bystanders becomes an ethical limit and part of her acting method—she learns to direct the danger toward enemies or controlled situations. Witch and mirror combat

Sequence 7 Witch is the pathway's first major qualitative change. Jenna gains supernatural black flames that burn spirituality and can be placed within or around targets, frost capable of restricting movement and creating barriers, enhanced divination and ritual talent, curses using reflections, and invisible hair or spiderweb-like threads for sensing, restraining, and attacking. She also acquires resistance to cold and many Demoness effects. These powers turn her into a flexible close- and mid-range combatant, but spirituality, range, preparation, and the target's Sequence still constrain them; black flames or frost that threaten an equal opponent cannot overwhelm a demigod by themselves. Mirror Substitution is her most important defensive technique. Jenna can prepare substitute images for herself or allies so a lethal hit shatters a mirror instead, while her real body reappears nearby. Mirror magic also supports concealment, communication, curses, and—when paired with an appropriate charm, mark, or item—movement through the mirror world. Substitutions are finite and can be exhausted by repeated area attacks; travel through ordinary or special mirror space exposes her to hostile mirror people, sealed regions, and entities far beyond her Sequence. Her encounters in Fourth Epoch Trier and the dream city repeatedly show that mirror access is an escape route and a battlefield, not automatic safety. Pleasure and Affliction

At Sequence 6 Demoness of Pleasure, Jenna's beauty and Charm become overtly supernatural. She can draw attention, stimulate desire, and make resistance more difficult while retaining the earlier pathway's flames, frost, threads, curses, and mirror techniques. The acting principle she adopts is that pleasure should bring pain: the target's conflicted desire, regret, jealousy, or emotional cost contributes more than uncomplicated enjoyment. This makes potion digestion inseparable from her relationship with Lumian and Franca. Charm remains resistible—strong self-control, mental-domain powers, distance, preparation, or higher status can blunt it—and uncontrolled leakage after advancement can endanger ordinary social contact. Sequence 5 Demoness of Affliction strengthens her entire prior kit and grants Disease. Jenna can create and spread mystical pathogens, resist disease produced by other Demonesses, form stronger and more precise webs, weaponize hair, build durable ice walls, and improve curses and black magic. Disease needs time to accumulate against healthy or fire-protected targets, and different constitutions or purification effects change its speed; within Mr. Fool's dream, Sequence suppression sharply reduces its ceiling. Affliction's acting requires causing real suffering, which Jenna can pursue through combat or painful truths but which continually tests her refusal to torment innocents merely for advancement. Despair, sacrifice, and restored authority

The Sequence 4 Demoness of Despair ritual requires creating a catastrophe that drives a large crowd into despair. Jenna uses Morora's condemned exiles, first spreading plague with borrowed characteristics and a charm, then drinking her potion as thousands collapse. Her completed Sequence grants godhood, expands Disease into large-area Plague, and enhances the pathway's control of mirrors, curses, frost, flames, threads, and emotion. A Demoness of Despair can cultivate distinct mystical pathogens rather than relying on one ordinary illness, but Jenna's short independent tenure at this Sequence means the corpus does not catalogue a personal library of named plagues. Her attempted advance to Sequence 3 is intentionally abnormal. She has not completely digested Despair, performs no proper reconciliation ritual with her mirror self, and consumes the potion in order to fail the pure-female trial and draw out the mirrored terror. Her mirror self independently chooses the same sacrifice, briefly permitting Jenna to embody a symbol associated with the creation and destruction of everything. That symbolism is not a stable ability she masters: it overwhelms her, and Amon destroys her body before it can complete its awakening. The meaningful “application” is the breaking of the special mirror world's barrier and the restoration of a chance to save Lumian; the absolute limit is Jenna's own death and fragmentation. After her soul is repaired, Jenna's powers are those of a consciousness within the unified Origins of Disaster rather than the result of personally drinking every remaining Demoness potion. She can act separately in consciousness space, use symbolic-level Charm, curses, black flames, twilight and destruction-related forces shared through the collective existence, and help suppress hostile wills. She later manifests and attends Julien's wedding, while daily life remains shaped by a shared existence whose consciousnesses coordinate bodies, dreams, and waking periods. These feats should therefore not be read as an independent Sequence advancement from Demoness of Despair to an autonomous Great Old One. (Chapters 2588–2595, 2605, and 2611)

Acting, performance, and fieldcraft

Jenna's non-potion skills remain essential to every Sequence. She is a trained actress and capable singer, maintains cover identities, reads audiences, applies makeup and disguises, bargains over payment, handles revolvers, and learns surveillance and team tactics from Franca, Lumian, and Anthony. Acting lets her make Instigation sound natural and conceal supernatural Charm; firearms give immediate stopping power when mystical abilities are suppressed; stage confidence helps her function under observation. None replaces information or preparation, and her early mistakes often arise from acting before she understands a threat, but by the dream-city mission she can alternate between covert observation, combat support, childcare, and a professional civilian cover. • Lumian Lee: Lumian rescues Jenna before she knows he is a Beyonder, then becomes her teammate, leader, lover, and the person she chooses to die saving. Her repaired soul ultimately shares his transformed existence.
• Franca Roland: Franca is Jenna's first guide to the supernatural, finances her early potions, teaches her Demoness abilities, and loves her. Their bond survives unreturned romance, jealousy, shared intimacy, Jenna's death, and her restoration.
• Julien: Jenna's elder brother is the surviving core of her birth family. She repeatedly conceals danger from him, secures work and safety for him, and later attends his wedding after her resurrection.
• Elodie: Jenna's mother teaches her that darkness passes and sacrifices herself to avoid burdening her children. Elodie's death motivates Jenna's assassination of Hugues Artois and her lifelong pursuit of power sufficient to protect others.
• Anthony Reid: Anthony is the team's mental specialist and quiet operational partner. Jenna trusts his judgment, relies on his hypnosis and treatment, and entrusts him with her final message to Franca.
• Ludwig: Jenna helps supervise and train Ludwig, treats him as a dangerous child rather than only as a sealed Angel, and leaves him a final affirmation that human life remains worthwhile despite its pain.
• Krismona: Krismona's remnant recognizes Jenna as a pure female Demoness and repeatedly warns her about the Sequence 3 trial. The warnings expose genuine danger but also reinforce Jenna's belief that her uniqueness can be exchanged for rapid growth.
• Luo Shan: Jenna befriends and protects Luo Shan in the dream city. Luo Shan's disappearance and request to be remembered become one of the losses Jenna carries out of the dream.

• Black Tear: A Grade 1 Sealed Artifact formed from a dead Demoness of Despair's tear and characteristic. It is primarily carried by Lumian or Franca rather than owned by Jenna, but its mirror traversal, special-mirror-world resonance, charm, and continuously spreading mystical pathogen repeatedly affect her team's operations. Its negative effects—infecting the wearer, causing intermittent pleasure, heightening emotion and persuasion, and attracting unwanted romance—make it unsuitable for continuous use. Jenna receives the team's Ice Talisman rather than Black Tear during the Project Vortex loop, while Black Tear remains the stronger shared means of leveraging the special mirror world. • Sword of Courage: Jenna shares custody of the transferred Red Priest broadsword with Franca. The accompanying ordinary swords are part of its required seal, while direct use risks burns and reckless aggression. (Chapter 2518)
