Protector
The Protector, personally called Armata, is the living armour assigned to the green dragon race. Although freed from the dragons' compulsory Magic of Servitude during dimensional travel, it chooses to remain loyal to Bom and eventually becomes Unit 301's cleaner, guard, and an affectionate member of the household. (Chapters 24–26, 133, 171)
Biography
A guardian without its leash
Armata reaches Unit 301 alongside three other protectors and finds Bom incapacitated after a magic transference. Believing Yu Jitae may have harmed the hatchlings, it seals the confrontation inside Black Gaze and leads a coordinated attack. Even after Yu Jitae defeats the group and offers freedom, Armata refuses to abandon the green race: the servitude spell is gone, but its gratitude toward the dragons and its chosen loyalty remain. Yu Jitae consequently spares it and recruits it to help protect the children through their Amusements. (Chapters 24–26)
Yu Jitae removes the Demon Count's stamp from Armata and replaces it with a Demon Archduke's mark, giving him command while leaving Armata's living-armour form intact. Armata initially suspects that its new master is holding the dragons hostage, but their evident trust in him changes its judgment. Household work then becomes its practical service: it learns chores, watches Gyeoul, and joins family games. Its sword later carries the hostile influence that guided the protectors across dimensions, though Armata never knowingly serves that will. (Chapters 26, 33–50)
Learning to belong at Unit 301
Armata's guardianship gradually becomes personal rather than merely functional. When it mistakes Gyeoul's broken clay doll for rubbish, its first response is to excuse the error; after Bom explains how to seek forgiveness for the other person's sake, it apologizes without qualification and makes a replacement with Gyeoul. The family later arranges a shared birthday celebration for Armata and Chirpy, marking how thoroughly the former lair guardian has been accepted into their daily life. (Chapters 133, 157, 170–171)
That attachment shows through both protection and vulnerability. Armata draws its sword when an intimidating stranger arrives at Unit 301, plays games despite hands ill-suited to delicate pieces, and helps with Gyeoul's household ventures. It also develops pride, humour, grudges, and feelings that can be hurt: Gyeoul's declaration that she does not need it leaves the armour visibly stunned. These reactions turn the once-formal servant into a participant whose emotional welfare matters to the family. (Chapters 185–186, 216, 222, 252, 298)
Farewell and a second household
Yu Jitae later trusts Armata and Clone 1 to guard the dragons during his absence. When the family prepares to separate, Gyeoul insists that Armata join their final trip; it serves as cameraman with the memory crystal, recording the family's last shared sights, and attends their farewell meal aboard the Dimensional Cruise. Armata's slow, lingering laughter briefly breaks the tense silence, preserving its familiar place within the group even at their departure. (Chapters 349, 378–381, 389–390)
After history is rewritten, four protectors again cross the dimensional breach. Bom disables the other three and deliberately keeps the green race's protector, while Yu Jitae once more uses his Demon Archduke authority to handle it. Yeorum reenacts her old habit of kicking over its rubbish bin but then helps pick everything up, leaving the newly arrived Armata baffled. The scene restores its household role, though whether this incarnation remembers the earlier timeline is not established. (Chapter 428)
Appearance and personality
Armata is a 235-centimetre-tall black full-plate armour with crimson eyes and a voice like scraping metal. The armour is not clothing: it is the living armour's skin and flesh, so its helmet and plates cannot simply be removed. Its huge, spiked gauntlets make fine tasks such as Jenga awkward. The red lights in its helmet are expressive, narrowing ominously in battle or shrinking into dots when it is confused. At work it softens the threatening silhouette with an apron and rubber gloves. (Chapters 24, 26, 33, 216)
Its defining trait is loyalty chosen in spite of freedom. Armata is formal and stubborn about protecting the dragons, but life at Unit 301 reveals an earnest, comic side: it hums while cleaning, enjoys nature and hiking, remembers petty slights, and sometimes misreads a room. It cannot bring itself to harm the children even when they pull at its armour, and its willingness to apologize, play, and feel rejected shows a growing emotional awareness. (Chapters 26, 157, 212, 216, 252, 298, 324, 344–345)
Powers and abilities
- Living-armour body and mana core: Armata is a demon-world life-form whose armour is its body and whose core sits within its chest. It can continue fighting after severe external damage, but attacks that transmit force through the armour can hurt its soul, and destruction of the core is fatal. A dragon-made mana core supports bodily recovery, while the stamp placed on its body determines the higher demonic authority to which it is bound. (Chapters 24–26, 216)
- Black Gaze: Armata can enclose a fight in a dark alternate space described as a protective barrier one level below a dragon's Law of Nature. It contains most collateral damage and can hide activity even from nearby magical senses, although sufficiently powerful attacks can make it tremble, leak force into the outside room, or tear it open. (Chapters 24–26)
- Sword of a Servant: Armata forms a two-handed greatsword from mana and coats it in a near-perfect bluish-black aura of demonic lightning. It can jump through space to deliver heavy slashes and fire a ray from its eyes while coordinating precisely with other protectors. Its Final Form, Sword of All Ends, concentrates its demonic power into a killing strike associated with near-maximum mastery of the authority; Yu Jitae nevertheless breaks it head-on. (Chapter 24)
- Lair-defence necromancy: Through Maditarria Henge, Armata and the protectors raise life-draining shadow hands, Death Knights, and winged Dragontooth Warriors. The summons form an army capable of pinning a target for Sword of All Ends, but Yu Jitae severs both the creatures and their necromantic effects, demonstrating that the formation can be dismantled by superior force. (Chapter 24)
- Guarding and perception: Armata reacts quickly to threats around Unit 301 and is trusted to watch the hatchlings, but its awareness is not absolute. It cannot follow Yeorum when she completely conceals her presence, and its large body limits delicate physical tasks. No later battle establishes a higher formal stage than the abilities it demonstrates on arrival. (Chapters 185, 216, 321, 349)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Demon Archduke's stamp | 26 | Yu Jitae removes the Demon Count's curse and replaces it with an Archduke's stamp, reconstructing Armata's living-armour body under a new authority. |
Relationships
- Bom: Armata regards the green dragon as its lord and freely chooses loyalty to her after Magic of Servitude disappears. Bom also teaches it how to repair emotional harm within the household. In the rewritten history, she makes a deliberate point of keeping the green protector when the four armours return. (Chapters 24–26, 157, 428)
- Yu Jitae: Their relationship begins as a lethal misunderstanding. Yu Jitae defeats Armata, replaces its demonic stamp, and assigns it household service; Armata watches him suspiciously until the dragons' trust persuades it that he is their genuine guardian. Yu Jitae later relies on Armata as one of Unit 301's principal defenders. (Chapters 24–26, 349)
- Gyeoul: Armata frequently watches and assists Gyeoul, even when her demands test its dignity. Their dispute over her clay doll teaches it sincere apology, while her insistence that it join the family's final trip demonstrates that she considers the cleaner part of the household. (Chapters 34, 133, 157, 222, 298, 379)
- Kaeul, Yeorum, and Chirpy: Kaeul's requests help turn cleaning into Armata's daily routine, and it shares a birthday celebration with Chirpy. Yeorum alternately orders it around, upsets its cleaning, and includes it in family jokes; her kinder reenactment of the rubbish-bin prank after history changes leaves Armata unable to understand the familiarity. (Chapters 33, 170–171, 252, 285, 428)
Items
Gyeoul's Memory Crystal
During the household's farewell trip, Armata carries Gyeoul's Memory Crystal and acts as the group's cameraman. It records the family's ordinary games and skydiving experience before Gyeoul gives the finished device to Jitae. (Chapters 379–381)
Arma's Longsword
Armata owns a sheathed longsword that Bom borrows and reluctantly gives to Yu Jitae after seeing the need through Providence. Because Armata alone encountered the will beyond the Horizon of Providence, the weapon carries that being's mana and later tries to force itself into Ha Saetbyul's heart. Yu Jitae diverts the strike to a nonfatal wound, then smashes the sword against Lakshata's palace gate; it breaks apart as Ha Saetbyul's connection to the hostile will is severed. (Chapters 47–50)
