Great Fire Essence

The Great Fire Essence is one of nine eternal sacred fires worshipped as guardians by the fire spirits. The essence of domination is the conscious entity Ifrit, whose power was divided after its theft twenty thousand years earlier. Randalph Brigsiel unknowingly receives one half after killing Contegonom, buys the caged half at auction for fifteen million points, and contracts with Ifrit. The Heart of the Hell Monarch then forcibly recombines and absorbs the halves, leaving no separate auction object; its latest demonstrated use is as pure fire magic for awakening spirit seeds while Ifrit sleeps for three years. History

The stolen fire of domination

The fire spirits identify the essence as one of nine sacred fires and say it was stolen roughly twenty thousand years before the auction. They initially accuse the water spirits because water power expanded after the theft, but Chrisley reconstructs a different chain: Contegonom, a water-attributed yeti contracted to the ancient water spirit Arshilla, used the essence's domination to become king and rule for fifteen years. She further believes Pandemonium recovered a small fire essence after Contegonom's fall. Her reconstruction resolves the manufactured fire-water dispute, but the precise recovery and delivery to the auction remain an evidence-based hypothesis rather than a witnessed transfer. Auctioned with a spirit contract

At the auction the essence appears inside a large iron cage. Most observers see an eternal flame, while Randalph perceives a two-legged dragon with fire running along its spine; Mind's Eye cannot determine a grade and suggests a seal or other hidden condition. The dark spirits set a five-million-point opening price, forcing the fire delegation either to surrender rank or form a contract. Jives chooses Randalph, making his own availability conditional on Randalph purchasing the essence. Randalph bids fifteen million—strengthening that contract—and defeats Ariel Diablo's eight-million bid. Together with the Hyacinth's Bow, the two major purchases consume thirty million points. Ifrit's contract and forced recombination

Randalph intends to inspect the essence before returning it to the fire spirits. When he opens the cage in his dungeon, the dragonlike fire tackles him into a white dream and identifies itself as Ifrit. Ifrit explains that the portion stolen by Contegonom transferred into Randalph and demands it back, but his giant form and transcendental pressure are an Image Implementation bluff. Randalph exposes the false scale, defeats the dream's regeneration, and offers destruction or a contract. Ifrit accepts on the condition that the agreement automatically ends if Randalph harms the fire spirits, then enters his body because he cannot return normally to the Spirit World. (Chapters 164–165)

The result is more restrictive than either party expects. The Heart of the Hell Monarch forcibly combines the split essence, imprisons Ifrit in Randalph's heart, and settles domination in Randalph as an Ex Epic passive skill. Lightning God lets Randalph sense the trapped fire, making covert resistance difficult. Garrash initially asks for cancellation but ultimately treats the Ifrit contract as grounds to welcome Randalph as a friend of the fire spirits. The ninth fire subsequently enters “consciousness” to strengthen its flames and will sleep for three years; Randalph avoids releasing Ifrit because the consequences are unknown. (Chapters 165–168)

Fuel for the fire-spirit seeds

After Garrash supplies one hundred thousand fire-spirit seeds, Chrisley warns that their simultaneous awakening could drain the dungeon's fire magic and disrupt its elemental balance. Randalph therefore uses the absorbed essence together with Pride's flames as a source of pure fire power. The process is exacting rather than automatic: excessive power destroys 358 unborn spirits, insufficient power lowers awareness, and adequate power raises it only gradually while each birth can dehydrate the source. This is the latest direct use of the essence in the supplied evidence and confirms its continuing presence within Randalph rather than a transfer back to the Spirit World. (Chapter 169)

Abilities and properties

• Eternal sacred fire: The essence is one of only nine fires born since the creation of the Fire Spirit World and acts as a guardian of the fire spirits. It burns forever, although the fire delegation says twenty thousand years of separation has gradually weakened its power; “eternal” therefore describes persistence, not unchanging output. (Chapters 154, 157, and 165)
• Conscious manifestation: The essence is Ifrit, a sentient fire that appears as a two-legged dragon and can negotiate a spirit contract. He can produce intense flame and use Image Implementation to create a regenerative dream space, enlarge his apparent body, and disguise his actual strength. Recognition of the illusion and sufficiently powerful attacks counter that dream. (Chapters 157 and 164–165)
• Power of Domination: After recombination, domination becomes an Ex Epic passive skill in Randalph. It can affect opponents already in a critical state; success depends on the user's magic power compared with the target's intelligence, and a successful target gradually loses ego and follows the user. The skill also invalidates territory declarations. The corpus demonstrates this as the absorbed essence's transferred power, not an unlimited command over healthy targets. (Chapters 165–166)
• Pure fire supply: The essence can feed fire magic into developing spirits and helps prevent the dungeon's fire element from being exhausted. Fine control is mandatory: too much destroys seeds, too little delays awakening, and prolonged births cause dehydration. Pride's flames are used alongside it, so the nursery result should not be attributed to the essence alone. (Chapter 169)
• Contract restrictions: Ifrit's contract automatically terminates if Randalph harms the fire spirits, although Randalph states he may defend himself if they attack first. Separately, Jives' auction contract becomes complete only when the essence is purchased and grants use proportional to the points spent. These are two distinct agreements tied to the same essence. • Containment and incompleteness: Ifrit initially lacks half of domination and cannot break the auction cage despite his display. Recombination restores the divided power but leaves him shackled by the Heart of the Hell Monarch, while Lightning God detects his movement.
