Contegonom

Contegonom is a former yeti king who stole part of the Great Fire Essence, ruled a continent, and later became a distorted entity trapped in Nothingness. Okullos summons him into his dungeon, where Contegonom corrupts creatures and claims to be the true god before Randalph destroys and devours his body while using Corruption.

Biography

A forgotten king called from Nothingness

Contegonom was originally a water-attributed yeti who stole the sacred fire of domination and contracted the water spirit Arshilla so he could use it. The theft lets him become king of the yetis and rule a continent, although his reign lasts only fifteen years. By the time Okullos calls him from Nothingness, most of his identity has eroded: he remembers his name, insists that he is the true god, and seeks recognition and new flesh rather than displaying the stable kingship later histories attribute to him. Corruption, possession, and elimination

Contegonom attacks Tashmal and Mago, hides his ruined body in an immense shadow, and stains Gigantes with Nothingness. Okullos expects the contamination to turn Randalph's high-class creatures into subordinates within an hour, but Mago's Sage's Eye exposes a weak point and forces Contegonom's body into view. Randalph evacuates his forces and uses Corruption to confront him directly. Contegonom tries to outlast the transformation and seize Randalph's body, yet Randalph tears him apart and devours the remains; later narration consistently treats Contegonom as eliminated. Appearance and personality

Contegonom normally presents as a vast mobile shadow. When Mago pulls that covering away, the body beneath is a six- or seven-metre bipedal mass whose eyes, nose, and mouth have melted together. He urgently hides the form again and later seeks Randalph's flesh, suggesting disgust with or practical need to replace the ruined vessel. He is arrogant, obsessive, and enraged by challenges to his divinity, but Tashmal argues that Nothingness has stripped away nearly everything except his name. (Chapters 126–129)

Abilities and powers

Contegonom's shadow moves at a speed that repeatedly wounds Tashmal while evading her spears, conceals his true body, resists Gigantes's accelerated club strike, and forms a sword for close combat. It can envelop another creature and stain it with Nothingness, after which control gradually passes to him; ordinary darkness is a poor counter because its effects are reduced against his matching attribute. Mago's supernatural sight can locate weaknesses, however, and Randalph's Corruption supplies enough opposing power to fight him directly. (Chapters 126–129)

He describes himself as immortal and not bound by death, expecting fallen bodies to become his servants and planning to transfer into Randalph's flesh before his current neck fails. The story demonstrates exceptional endurance and body corruption, but not literal invulnerability: his ruined vessel deteriorates, he is devoured, and later comparisons call him eliminated. Part of the Great Fire Essence transfers to Randalph after his death, linking Contegonom's former domination power to the victor without fully explaining how it interacted with Nothingness. • Okullos: Okullos summons Contegonom as a decisive variable and relies on his contamination to turn enemy high-class creatures.
• Randalph Brigsiel: Contegonom covets Randalph's transformed body, but Randalph uses Corruption to destroy and consume him at severe physical cost.
• Tashmal: She recognizes what Nothingness has made him, rejects his claim to godhood, and attacks even though their common darkness weakens her skills.
• Mago: Her Sage's Eye identifies a weak point and strips back his shadow, enabling the faction to see and attack the true body.
