Ariel Diablo

Ariel Diablo is a Grand Duke, master of weapons, and Randalph Brigsiel's principal rival. She wins the demon contest in his first life; in the second, their long competition develops into a grudging respect and finally an alliance that preserves the Demon World and helps defeat Death Bringer.

Biography

The winner Randalph remembers

In the failed timeline, Ariel is the grand duke who survives the destruction of Earth and ascends to the Demon World's throne. That memory defines Randalph's initial view of her: she is not simply another stronger demon but proof that relentless confidence and direct assault can win the entire contest. When he returns to the past, catching and surpassing Ariel becomes one of the standards by which he measures every early advantage. (Chapter 1)

At the first Demon World Auction, Ariel has no memory of the life Randalph remembers. She nevertheless notices the Earl who refuses to act intimidated, uses Power of Words against him, and calls his name rather than dismissing him as a forgettable lesser noble. Randalph reads her rapid recovery, weapon mastery, and missing Abyss Sword as evidence that she is dangerous now and still far from her eventual ceiling. Their rivalry begins with asymmetric knowledge, but Ariel's interest prevents him from treating that knowledge as certainty. (Chapters 27–32)

Auctions, armies, and grand-duke rivalry

Ariel bids selectively, concentrating on rare weapons and goods connected to Oswen rather than spending for display. Randalph exposes the limits of her auction reserve and defeats her in several contests, yet she withdraws when a bid becomes strategically wasteful and later proposes cooperation at a moment that could shield her faction from damage. These decisions reveal a calculating commander beneath the blunt confidence Randalph associates with her first-life victories. (Chapters 64–69 and 115–120)

Her faction reflects the same discipline. Ariel trains the Grand Duke's Knights as a coordinated elite, restores silver knights after major losses, and wages sustained wars against Upa and Pandemonium instead of hiding inside a dungeon. She appears publicly when angels descend, claims and operates multiple dungeons, and uses the contest to rebuild toward her Demon World prime. The loyalty of her knights gives her smaller armies unusual endurance but also makes her vulnerable when enemies can overwhelm them through numbers. (Chapters 145–161 and 199–201)

The Ark and the last rival

Near the Ark, Ariel's elite force withstands far larger creature armies while she confronts Upa directly. Her balrog-bone armor resists many skills, and her own attacks keep a physical advantage over the other grand duke, but Upa's numbers threaten to exhaust her faction. Randalph chooses to open a gap for Ariel rather than let Upa or Pandemonium take the field, using her strength to remove a mutual enemy while preserving the rival most capable of checking the remaining factions. (Chapters 219–221)

After Camael's arrival and Pandemonium's fall, Ariel waits for Randalph and insists that their unresolved contest be settled openly. She has crossed into transcendence and chooses the ground, timing, and witnesses for a duel that will leave no ambiguity among their followers. Her swordsmanship and Abyss Sword pressure Randalph more than a simple statistical comparison suggests, but his broader combinations and domination power defeat her. Ariel surrenders rather than spend her followers' lives denying the result. (Chapters 229–230)

Vanguard of the Demon King

Randalph spares Ariel because Camael and Death Bringer make her strength indispensable, then completes a formal master-and-vassal ceremony before both factions. The submission is real—Ariel kneels first and accepts his orders—but it is not a collapse of identity. She leads the campaign against Camael, retains authority over her knights, and becomes the person seated beside Randalph when they return to her Demon World castle. Their previous rivalry gives the new hierarchy credibility that a private bargain could not have produced. (Chapters 230–236)

Back in the Demon World, Ariel discovers that some former subjects doubt her identity after the Hell Monarch's occupation. She restrains herself from destroying her own gate, accepts Randalph's assistance, and then uses her return to stabilize soldiers and expose the scale of the possession crisis. In the final campaign she leads the silver knights against dominated demons while Randalph attacks the system and Death Bringer. Her ambition remains intact, but it is redirected into preserving a realm in which she has accepted another demon as king. (Chapters 235–241)

Appearance and personality

Ariel has two long horns marking the devil's descendant, pointed elf-like ears, a beautiful face, and an untouchable bearing. In battle she wears armor and uses weapons made from balrog bone; one sword is described as an ivory blade that she covers with chaos. Her composure is visible in deliberate gestures and an expression that is often unreadable even to experienced negotiators. (Chapters 27–32, 201, 219, 230, and 235)

She is proud, ambitious, direct, and intensely disciplined. Randalph initially mistakes her first-life frontal assaults for thoughtless stubbornness, but her auction restraint, invitation diplomacy, troop training, and choice to settle their rivalry before witnesses show strategic judgment. Ariel values strength without treating followers as meaningless: her knights' loyalty and her restraint at her own castle both indicate that rule, for her, includes preserving the order she commands. (Chapters 27–32, 64–69, 199–201, and 229–236)

Abilities and powers

Ariel is a transcendent grand duke whose abilities emphasize weapon mastery, chaos-infused swordsmanship, disciplined elite forces, and inherited origin-demon power.

Weapon Master and swordsmanship

The Weapon Master title lets Ariel handle a wide range of weapons, but the corpus presents swordsmanship as her clearest specialty. She studies techniques across the world and can use dual swords with precise, continuous pressure. Randalph judges his pure sword skill far below hers even after learning Moonlight Falling; he wins their duel by combining perception, control, lightning, items, and superior breadth rather than matching her armed technique on equal terms. (Chapters 27–32 and 229–230)

Her balrog-bone equipment adds substantial resistance to magic and ordinary skills. That protection is equipment-derived, not innate invulnerability: Upa can still threaten her, Randalph's regenerating Lightning God keeps her occupied, and attacks backed by greater authority can break through. She also adapts quickly enough to split Lightning God temporarily, showing that her weapon skill includes reading and redirecting unfamiliar manifestations. (Chapters 219–220 and 230)

Abyss Sword and chaos arts

Abyss Sword is Ariel's proprietary chaos technique, remembered as a power that returns what it strikes toward nothing. She has not yet recovered enough statistics to use it at the first auction, and Randalph judges that reckless use of such a powerful skill could ruin her hand. After restoring her power, she surrounds her swords with chaos and uses Abyss Sword in direct clashes with Upa and Randalph. The technique is distinct from the 512-sword formation she later creates with Weapon Cheat. (Chapters 27–32, 219, and 230)

Weapon Cheat, Waterspout, and Power of Words

Weapon Cheat creates hundreds of genuine copies of a weapon. In her duel with Randalph, Ariel multiplies her balrog-bone sword into 512 blades, plants them around him, and links several skills into a pillar of light several kilometres across. Waterspout separately turns the ground into repeated tsunami-like waves. Ariel pours everything into the linked formation, but Randalph does not evade it: Pride's flames, Infinity Armour, and Lightning God reduce the blow before he counters. The corpus does not name every component in the linkage or give Weapon Cheat a fixed duration or cooldown. (Chapter 230)

Power of Words is an early control skill rather than swordsmanship. Randalph's Mind's Eye detects it and lowers its control, while his higher magic power completes the resistance; without those advantages, he believes it could have controlled him. Ariel's restored techniques remain formidable after she crosses into transcendence, but Camael's linked angelic army and Death Bringer's dominated forces still require coalition tactics rather than a single decisive attack. (Chapters 27–32 and 229–240)

Knights and Diablo inheritance

The Grand Duke's Knights are not a summoned item but a force trained to mirror Ariel's discipline. Silver knights and demon elites follow coordinated strategies, continue fighting at a numerical disadvantage, and rally when she returns to her castle. Her command power is therefore both personal and institutional: removing Ariel would damage the cohesion that makes a small faction competitive with much larger armies. (Chapters 199–201, 219–221, and 235–240)

The name Diablo is later tied to an origin demon king whose power can oppose divine authority. Randalph inherits Diablo's power during the final sequence, while Ariel remains the living grand duke of that lineage. The corpus does not fully explain the inheritance's mechanics inside Ariel herself, so her demonstrated sword, chaos, command, and transcendent feats should not be expanded through assumption. (Chapters 228–241)

Items

No item in the scoped item manifest is assigned to Ariel as its principal owner. Her balrog-bone armor and swords remain described here because the corpus does not establish a stable canonical item name for them.
