Black Steel Earring

The Black Steel Earring is a sealed cursed item made by Raze and ultimately bound to Simyon. Its evolving Steel Body becomes the foundation of Simyon's defensive role and can retain temporary magical traits such as Rebound.

History

Theft, unsealing, and binding

Raze creates the sealed earring before Von steals it. Simyon eventually meets the release condition by remaining awake for seventy-two hours without food or water, binding the item to himself. The ordeal fits the earring's later function: it rewards sustained physical endurance by turning Simyon's body into increasingly resilient living armor. (Chapters 48–50, 55, and 66)

The earring evolves with Simyon and stores temporary effects used in later battles. After Simyon's death, Dame Narfous can reproduce aspects of his hardened, electrified body through separate cursed gauntlets, but the corpus does not establish that Dame acquires the earring itself. (Chapters 144, 875–876, 1146, and 1354)

Abilities and properties

• Creates an evolvable Steel Body that greatly increases Simyon's durability. (Chapters 66 and 144)
• Can store or integrate temporary magical effects, including Rebound. (Chapter 144)
• Is sealed behind an endurance condition and binds to the person who fulfills it. (Chapters 48–66)
