Bones

Bones is a recognizable Central Mage Academy elite whose Lightning magic can be held in solid weapon-like forms. His pride in Central's superiority leads him to help attack Wilton students, but the Grand Magus later sacrifices his magical future through a dangerous enhancement pill. Bones survives under Alen's protection with his ability to cast permanently lost.

Biography

Central pride and the Wilton ambush

Bones arrives at the Exchange exhibition with Nannan as one of Central Academy's most recognizable students. He immediately breaks Moze's lightning challenge record with one precisely directed spell, then dismisses Wilton's successes as luck. When another Wilton student solves a difficult puzzle, Bones treats confidence from a rival academy as an insult that must be corrected rather than evidence worth respecting. (Chapters 1389–1392)

He and Nannan follow the Wilton group and recruit Kayzel, knowing Kayzel enjoys humiliating people while concealing the earlier embarrassment that prompted them. After Wilton defeats Central representatives in another challenge, Bones joins Kayzel, Rupert, and Ponzo in a private assault on Piba and Moze. His twin lightning strikes hit both of Moze's arms, contributing directly to injuries intended to weaken Wilton before the official assessments. (Chapters 1393–1400)

Central's protection prevents immediate accountability, reinforcing Bones's assumption that institutional rank will decide how the attack is interpreted. He remains dismissive when the victims appear healed and criticizes other Central students whose performances embarrass the academy. That pride also binds him to Ibarin's demands: failure is treated not as an ordinary loss but as a threat to the identity and safety the elite students have been taught to depend upon. Enhancement, defeat, and loss of magic

When Wilton confronts Central again, Bones fights beside Kayzel against the students they injured. He shapes solid Lightning magic into paired whips, forcing Piba and Moze to combine enhanced barriers and elemental attacks. The Wilton pair eventually lands a retaliatory strike, burning Bones without critically wounding him, but the accumulating defeats and Ibarin's pressure drive Central's students toward the pills they were given for an emergency. Bones consumes a pill with most of his teammates and becomes encased in an orange body of raw mana. In that state he fires golden beams that erase ordinary spells and overwhelm Moon-enhanced defenses. The students do not know that their mana stars are breaking or that continued use will make their hearts implode; Ibarin accepts that cost because the temporary power may preserve Central's victory. Raze stops the fatal process through extraction. He drains the exposed mana from Bones, rendering him unconscious but alive, while the already broken stars mean he will never cast again. Bones initially suspects Wilton of causing the empty sensation, then accepts Kayzel's conclusion that the pill is responsible. His loss turns Central's promised superiority into personal evidence that Ibarin regarded the students as disposable tools. (Chapters 1481–1484)

Flight from Central Academy

When academy staff order the depowered students to meet Ibarin, Bones proposes a public location in an attempt to keep the group safe and catches Nannan when a staff mage throws her aside. He runs with the others but freezes when an attack is aimed at them; Kelly's Dark magic and Raze's arrival save the group. Bones remains suspicious of the Dark Guild, yet his questions now come from fear rather than a position of control. (Chapters 1485–1490)

Alen offers protection for the students and their families if they accept that they can no longer return openly to academy life. Bones follows the others in agreeing, hides behind a mask during the final event, and repeatedly worries about whether escape or return is possible. He ultimately watches Raze kill Ibarin and acknowledges that the student he distrusted truly defeated the Grand Magus. His latest direct appearance leaves him alive, under Alen's protection, and without restored magic. (Chapters 1491–1515)

Appearance and personality

Bones is a male student with extremely pale, polished-ivory skin, a thin body, and a frail-looking frame. That appearance is misleading enough for the narration to warn against underestimating him: before losing his power, he is one of Central Academy's most capable and recognizable mages. No lasting physical injury or later change beyond exhaustion is established. (Chapter 1389)

He begins calm, arrogant, and strongly invested in Central's hierarchy. Bones can acknowledge the practical speed of Lightning magic, but he interprets rivals' achievements as luck, hides embarrassment from stronger classmates, and recruits Kayzel to do the humiliating work he wants without taking the first risk himself. He also judges Central teammates harshly when their losses damage the academy's image. (Chapters 1390–1393, 1428, and 1460)

Powerlessness exposes fear, attachment, and a limited capacity to reassess. Bones tries to move Nannan toward safety, catches her when she is struck, considers helping Kelly despite her Dark magic, and accepts protection for his family. He remains skeptical and often looks for escape, but by Ibarin's death he can admit that Raze accomplished what seemed impossible. (Chapters 1484–1495 and 1505–1515)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Lightning Magic

Bones is an elite Lightning mage, although the corpus does not state his star rank. He can release multiple erratic arcs from both hands and direct one through a fast-moving target with precision, setting an eight-second exhibition record in a single cast. He also fires twin bolts accurately enough to strike both of Moze's arms during the ambush and later unleashes broader barrages under pressure. (Chapters 1390, 1398, and 1481)

His distinctive application holds lightning in a stable, solid form and molds it into weapons. Bones demonstrates two long electrical whips whose strikes crack through the air and can pressure a Moon-enhanced barrier from above. The narration says the gift can shape whatever weapon he desires, but only the whips and ordinary bolt forms are directly shown. Strong combined defenses can stop them, and a sufficiently coordinated counterattack can force him onto a rushed shield. (Chapter 1477)

Pill-induced mana body

An enhancement pill supplied through Ibarin transforms Bones temporarily into a glowing body encased in raw mana. His normal shaped spells give way to condensed golden beams capable of breaking combined Fire, Wind, and Moon magic, while the mana-body state causes incoming ordinary spells to vanish or pass without injury. The pill's precise ingredients and any safe activation method are not disclosed to the students. (Chapters 1478–1481)

The cost is permanent. The transformation breaks the stars anchoring Bones's mana core and makes his whole body function as a temporary core; continued use would cause his heart to implode. Raze's extraction removes the dangerous energy quickly enough to keep him alive but cannot restore the destroyed stars. By his latest appearance Bones cannot feel or cast mana, and no later treatment reverses that condition. (Chapters 1481–1515)

Relationships

• Nannan: Nannan is Bones's closest Central Academy companion. They attend exhibitions, follow Wilton, and face the consequences of the pill together. Other students teasingly call them lovebirds, but the corpus does not confirm a romantic relationship.
• Kayzel: Bones recruits Kayzel to humiliate Wilton and later fights beside him. After their cores are broken, Kayzel becomes the person who forces Bones to accept that the pills—not Wilton—caused their loss and that returning home is unsafe.
• Piba and Moze: Bones helps ambush the Wilton students and later confronts them openly. Their successful retaliation burns him and precedes the desperate decision to consume Ibarin's pill.
• Raze Cromwell: Bones first treats Raze as an unimportant Wilton student, then as an enemy and possible manipulator. Raze extracts the fatal mana state and saves his life at the cost already imposed on his magic, then defeats the Grand Magus Bones believed untouchable.
• Kelly: Kelly refuses the enhancement pill, warns that Ibarin used the students, and protects them with Dark magic when academy staff attack. Bones distrusts her affiliation but gradually recognizes that she did not create their predicament.
• Alen: Alen offers sanctuary and orders protection for the students' families. Bones accepts because academy status no longer protects him and returning openly would expose both him and his relatives to Ibarin.

• Unnamed enhancement pill: Bones consumes one of the pills provided to Central's students for the Exchange. It grants a temporary raw-mana body and overwhelming beams while irreversibly breaking the mana stars and threatening fatal heart failure.
