Moze

Moze is Wilton Academy's fifth-ranked student and a self-proclaimed favorite of Panla. Initially a boastful rival to Raze Cromwell, he develops into a loyal teammate whose experience of Central Academy's unchecked cruelty changes what victory means to him.

Biography

Rivalry at Wilton

Moze introduces himself as Wilton's fifth-best student and a fellow lightning specialist, confidently placing his skill near Raze's. His eagerness repeatedly outruns his judgment: a powerful wand rejects and injures him, and he challenges Raze in both theory and combat. Raze corrects him without humiliation and deliberately lets him display his combination magic before winning, leaving Moze able to acknowledge superior knowledge without the resentment his first boasts suggest. (Chapters 1303–1321)

Central Academy's retaliation

At the academy exchange, Moze supports his classmates and celebrates their unexpected victories, but Kayzel and three other Central students ambush him and Piba in retaliation. The attackers break their bodies and deliberately corrupt their mana cores. Moze first tries to reassure his friends, then breaks down over the possible loss of the future for which he trained. He nevertheless consents to Raze and Safa's untested treatment because life without his former magic feels impossible to face. Their combined destruction and healing restores both damaged cores completely. (Chapters 1397–1402)

The attack leaves Moze frightened but also strips away his earlier concern with personal ranking. He asks Raze to oppose Central's culture of impunity even if Wilton's resistance provokes further punishment, then fights beside Piba in the group battle. Their elemental combinations finally burn Kayzel and Bones, providing the limited but meaningful answer Moze sought, although Raze must save the Wilton students from the Central team's enhancement. After Ibarin's defeat, Moze remains unsure how to reconcile the feared Dark Magus with public teaching, but affirms that the Raze he personally knew was good. (Chapters 1403–1520)

Appearance and personality

The corpus gives no sustained physical description of Moze beyond his Wilton student role and the injuries he receives at Central. He is expressive and theatrical: he puffs out his chest when introducing himself, loudly claims rivalry with Raze, and reacts to shocking developments with little restraint. That same openness makes his grief, fear, pride in teammates, and eventual moral uncertainty readily visible. (Chapters 1303–1304, 1397–1403, and 1497–1520)

Moze is boastful rather than wholly arrogant. He takes risks, jumps to conclusions, and wants recognition, yet he can revise his judgment when someone teaches him clearly. His refusal to hide the lasting fear caused by Central's assault, coupled with his willingness to confront the perpetrators again, develops his confidence from self-promotion into solidarity with Wilton. (Chapters 1308–1321 and 1398–1477)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Lightning magic and combination casting

Moze specializes in Lightning Magic and is one of Wilton's leading students. Enhanced gloves let him release rapid lightning strikes like jabs, while his own control supports attacks from changing angles. He can combine wind lift and a wind vortex with a concentrated lightning charge, a pairing Panla says he had not previously mastered. The combination covers a broad area but consumes too much mana for a single target, and Raze defeats it by condensing a more efficient bolt. (Chapters 1303 and 1320–1321)

His training is not limited to lightning. During the exchange group battle, Moze forms an energy dome against Bones's lightning, raises earth walls, and casts fire with Piba. Piba's Moon Magic can enhance his output, and allied terrain manipulation creates openings, but stronger pure-mana beams erase their elemental combinations. Kayzel's core attack temporarily prevents Moze from casting; Raze and Safa fully repair that damage, and Moze's later combat confirms restored access. No later star rank or permanent upgrade is established. (Chapters 1398–1402 and 1477–1479)

Magical theory and precision

Moze is a capable theory student despite his haste. He can correctly explain many runes in a formation and performs well in precision-oriented exchange events, but initially misses a formation's larger purpose because he analyzes its parts too quickly. His record with a moving-target exercise draws Lee Roy's competitive interest. These skills establish broad academy competence, not a unique trait or artifact-derived power. (Chapters 1308–1310 and 1418–1450)

Relationships

  • Raze Cromwell: Moze begins by claiming Raze as a lightning rival. Raze defeats and teaches him without needlessly diminishing him, later helps restore his core, and becomes the ally Moze trusts to answer Central Academy's abuse.
  • Piba: Piba is Moze's closest combat partner during the exchange. They are assaulted together, accept the same dangerous treatment, and combine Moon, wind, fire, earth, and lightning applications against Central's team.
  • Chiba and Yolden: Moze celebrates their accomplishments and relies on them within Wilton's leading student group. Chiba comforts him when his confidence collapses after the core injury.
  • Kayzel: Kayzel leads the retaliatory attack that nearly ends Moze's life as a mage. Moze later faces him in the group battle, seeking payback without claiming that their single successful strike settles the difference in power.
  • Panla: Moze calls himself Panla's favorite student. She recognizes his talent and specialty, but his conduct also gives her repeated occasions to correct or reassess him.

Items

  • Enhanced lightning gloves: Moze wears gloves that accelerate his short, rapid lightning casts during his duel with Raze. The corpus does not establish their origin, final custody, or a unique proper name. (Chapter 1320)
