Alen

Alen is Aurora's older brother, a gifted Alterian fire mage, and a Central Military officer who first serves under Enaxx. His encounters with Raze Cromwell gradually turn professional curiosity into a wary alliance. Unlike the academy students around whom he first appears, Alen is already an adult military mage; the later officer is the same brother Aurora introduces at Central Academy.

Biography

A promising officer under Enaxx

Aurora introduces Alen at a Central Academy event as her guest, a Central Military officer working under Enaxx and one of the youngest five-star mages. Alen is competitive enough to investigate the unknown “Jake,” yet his first response to Raze's ideas is intellectual interest rather than hostility. He discusses magical military theory, recognizes useful applications that he had not considered, and later proves strong enough to trouble Raze's projected body, establishing both his talent and his investment in responsible military magic. (Chapters 307–326)

Doubt within Alterian institutions

Years later, Raze approaches Alen with evidence that Enaxx and the Grand Magi are not the honorable authorities Alen believed them to be. Alen tests the claims instead of accepting them on faith, shares what he knows of his former mentor, and goes to the Orian Guild crisis himself. There he prevents police from executing surrendered Dark Guild members, choosing the rule he considers just over an order driven by fear and spectacle. The escape of Harvey's force leaves Alen publicly compromised, but also confirms that his conscience can override institutional loyalty. (Chapters 1081–1105)

Aurora's disappearance makes the conspiracy personal. Alen searches for his sister, questions those connected to the academy, and confronts Raze's projection for answers about portals and the Dark Spirit. Raze cannot give him the certainty he wants, but Alen learns enough to understand that official explanations omit other worlds and powers. Protecting Aurora remains his strongest pressure, while the investigation forces him to judge Raze by repeated conduct rather than the Dark Magus reputation alone. (Chapters 1195–1202)

Shelter, infiltration, and Ibarin's exposure

When Raze's group reaches Alterian physically, Alen uses his position to shelter them and arrange their entry into Wilton Academy. The choice risks his career and life, but he treats their evidence against Ibarin as a matter requiring investigation rather than suppression. He accompanies the exchange delegation, survives Ibarin's attempt to eliminate suspected conspirators, and witnesses the Grand Magus's abuses become public. The alliance is therefore built through mutual rescue and verification, not unconditional trust. (Chapters 1284–1305 and 1374–1523)

Alen's moral limits remain visible even after he commits to the coalition. He is prepared to fight corrupt mages and institutions, but he objects when Harvey treats death, fear, and sacrifice as efficient tools. Their disagreement nearly becomes lethal because each claims to protect Alterian's vulnerable people through incompatible means. Raze's leadership keeps them on the same side temporarily, while Ibarin's fall confirms Alen's decision to break with the old order. (Chapters 1470–1523)

Military resistance and reconstruction

After Central Academy, Alen recruits officers he trusts and converts military access into an organized resistance against Gizin, Cerebus, and the remaining Grand-Magus structure. He gathers intelligence, directs trained personnel, fights beside the Dark Guild without adopting its ideology, and helps move the coalition through the Underside and toward Noble Land. His continued conflict with Harvey shows his development is not moral surrender: he learns cooperation with compromised allies while continuing to oppose indiscriminate killing. (Chapters 1524–1660)

Alen survives the first Noble Land infiltration, follows Raze's retreat when Idore's defenses make continued fighting untenable, and remains part of the broader campaign that removes the centralized Grand Magus regime. In the aftermath he participates in Alterian's political restructuring, where sovereign states and communication replace another single ruler. His latest position is that of a surviving officer helping build accountable government from institutions he once trusted too easily. (Chapters 1661–1720 and 1765–1769)

Appearance and personality

Alen is first described as a tall, elegant red-haired man with a princely appearance. In his later military role he wears a white uniform marked with gold insignia and a beret, visually distinguishing him from academy students and clandestine Dark Guild mages. The corpus also uses the spelling “Allen,” but does not establish it as a separate person. (Chapters 307–308, 1201, and 1378)

He is intelligent, competitive, disciplined, and strongly justice-driven. Curiosity makes him receptive to Raze's magical ideas, while protectiveness toward Aurora can override caution. His defining development is a shift from confidence in respectable institutions to evidence-based loyalty: he questions Enaxx, defies police orders, shelters fugitives, and joins a coalition, yet continues challenging Harvey whenever expediency threatens civilians. (Chapters 308, 1084–1101, 1195–1202, and 1524–1660)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Fire magic

Alen is introduced as a five-star mage approaching six-star rank and later operates as a high-star combat mage. His primary demonstrated affinity is fire. Quick casting, including finger-snap activation, produces concentrated flame attacks, large-area output, barriers, and propulsion or rapid movement. His military training lets him use that power precisely around allies and civilians rather than simply maximizing destruction. The corpus does not assign him a final numerical star rank. (Chapters 307–326, 1084–1101, and 1534–1592)

His spellcraft can pressure Raze's projected body, intercept hostile mages, and support coordinated assaults, but it remains ordinary cultivated Alterian magic rather than Grand Magus authority or borrowed transformation. Grand-Magus-scale opponents, unfamiliar portals, and energy-bodied Cerebus forces can exceed his knowledge or direct output. Exhaustion also matters: prolonged fighting leaves him depleted even when determination brings him back into action. (Chapters 323–326, 1195–1202, and 1581–1660)

Military command and investigation

Alen's nonmagical expertise is as consequential as his affinity. He understands military enchantment theory, works through agents and trusted officers, secures transport and institutional access, evaluates testimony, and coordinates disciplined forces with less conventional allies. These are trained command capabilities, not magical effects. They let him turn private suspicion into resistance, but his authority depends on people choosing to trust him once the old hierarchy fractures. (Chapters 307–308, 1284–1305, and 1524–1720)

Relationships

  • Aurora: Alen is Aurora's protective older brother. Her disappearance drives him deeper into the portal conspiracy and makes his search for the truth about Raze and the Grand Magi personally urgent.
  • Raze Cromwell: Alen first meets Raze under the Jake identity and later becomes a cautious ally. Raze's repeated evidence and protection earn Alen's trust, while Alen provides shelter, military access, and an ethical counterweight within the coalition.
  • Enaxx: Enaxx is Alen's former superior and mentor. Discovering the corruption and hidden mechanisms around him helps break Alen's confidence in Grand Magus authority.
  • Harvey: Alen and Harvey cooperate against common enemies but represent opposing methods. Alen rejects Harvey's willingness to sacrifice or terrorize people for power, bringing them close to open conflict.
  • Ibarin: Ibarin treats Alen's assistance to the Wilton group as a threat. Alen survives his attempt to silence the conspiracy and helps expose the academy regime.

Items

No personal named item within the finalized item scope is established for Alen. He uses ordinary military and magical equipment, but the corpus grounds his principal strength in trained fire magic, institutional access, and command.
