Demon Sage Nine Abyss
Demon Sage Nine Abyss is the Demon Realm's highest-ranking field commander inside the human world during the mass invasion. Unable to pass a demon sage's original body through the available World Entrances, he enters by possessing a weak demon, rebuilds his cultivation in secret, and coordinates the infiltrated forces from a mobile grotto-heaven. His final personal attack combines his restored demon sage body with the Eye of the Dark Realm, but Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue force him out of the world. (Chapters 244–465)
Biography
The widening demon war
Nine Abyss spends years hidden in the human world after using possession to pass through a World Entrance that could not accommodate his original demon sage body. By the time humanity discovers the secret, he has cultivated for more than thirteen centuries, recovered enough strength to threaten Regis Godfiends, and uses a mobile grotto-heaven to summon commanders without revealing his location. His early caution is personal rather than a general Demon Realm policy: he rarely attacks because Creation Supremacies can kill the possessed body, while continuing to replace regional commanders and organize elite demon-monarch teams. (Chapters 244–278)
After fully recovering demon sage cultivation and integrating the Blood Fiend Armor, Nine Abyss personally kills King Wide Imperial, destroys the city pass around him, and protects the mass entry of fourth Firmament demon monarchs. He then gathers the invading elites into his grotto-heaven and disperses them according to the Imperial Lords' larger plan. Later intelligence and ambush operations remain his own responsibility: he receives field reports, coordinates failed attacks on the unidentified underground Godfiend, and employs Demon Sage Thousand Cricket's karmic blood curses to turn scattered demon monarchs into bait that identifies which human is slaughtering them. (Chapters 282–376)
War’s end and outer-realm expansion
Once the blood-curse evidence identifies Meng Chuan, Nine Abyss reports the result to Imperial Lord Starquix and accepts the leadership's reserve assassination mission. He temporarily transfers command of the human-world network to North Sense, then attacks Meng Chuan's Jiang State residence after Starquix's curse fails. The Eye of the Dark Realm lets him form a sealed miniature world, strengthen himself with its World Power, and press both Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue. This is Nine Abyss's chosen execution of an assigned mission; the preceding curse and overall decision to prioritize Meng Chuan belong to the Imperial Lords. (Chapters 396–402)
Meng Chuan's Magic Awl pierces Nine Abyss's Essence Soul repeatedly, and Liu Qiyue's strengthened phoenix arrow penetrates both his dark-red robe and Blood Fiend Armor. With his Essence Soul heavily injured, Nine Abyss can use only a fraction of his normal strength and abandons the Dark-Red Prison. He tries multiple escape techniques, then tears open the world membrane and retreats to Emperor Roc's protection in the outer realm. The withdrawal permanently removes the invasion's only active true demon sage from the human world; after reporting failure and retaining conditional use of the Eye, he is later described as having been forced into the outer realm to survive. (Chapters 403–406, 465)
Appearance and personality
The possessed body used by Nine Abyss first appears as a sloppy-looking elder. During the assassination attempt he is commonly described in black robes, while the Eye of the Dark Realm covers him in dark-red energy that forms a more elaborate robe. A third dark-red eye opens at his glabella when he activates the treasure. The corpus does not describe his inaccessible original demon-sage body, so the elder's appearance should not be assumed to represent his natural species or permanent form. (Chapters 282, 296, 400–403)
Nine Abyss is cautious, hierarchical, and strongly motivated by survival and treasure. He chooses the weakest large-city-pass defender, conceals commanders inside a mobile grotto-heaven, and avoids Creation Supremacies until the Imperial Lords make Meng Chuan's death worth the risk. He nevertheless shows personal ambition: obtaining the Eye is something he has long desired, and even after failing the assassination he is satisfied that the promised reward remains available. His fear while kneeling before the Imperial Lords and his eventual move into the outer realm show that obedience lasts only while it remains safer and more profitable than refusal. (Chapters 244, 282–298, 398–406, 465)
Abilities and cultivation
Possession and recovered demon sage body
Nine Abyss crosses into the human world by possessing a weak demon because his original demon sage body cannot fit through even a super-large World Entrance. He slowly rebuilds the possessed body until it recovers demon sage cultivation, although human experts initially judge that a possessed vessel will have difficulty reaching the original body's absolute peak. His technique realm is described as the late Grotto-Heaven stage, while his restored power, domain, and World Power place his ordinary attacks around the top Creation-realm level before the Eye's amplification. This is recovered cultivation in a substitute body, not a second independent true body. (Chapters 244, 278, 282–283, 400–401)
The possessed body has immense vitality and can split into nine escape forms, employ several movement techniques, travel deep underground, and tear open a world membrane with the Eye's power. These methods fail to shake Meng Chuan because Bloodblades intercept each division and severe Essence Soul pain prevents Nine Abyss from executing precise fist techniques. Once he leaves through the membrane, he cannot reenter the human world in that body; doing so would require another weak vessel and decades of recovery. His latest evidenced cultivation remains demon sage level, with no Imperial Lord breakthrough shown. (Chapters 403–406, 465)
Nine Abyss Land and World Power
Nine Abyss Land is the ultimate technique he develops by improving his divine powers. The corpus does not give a complete internal formulation, but its affinity with a world-type treasure is explicit: inside the Dark-Red Prison, the surrounding World Power gathers on Nine Abyss and multiplies the force of his palms, fists, domain, and body. A World Power-charged palm sends a Creation-level guardian beast flying and ruptures the world membrane, while combined attacks from Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue are needed to drain its momentum. (Chapters 400–402)
This amplification depends on control of the miniature world and on Nine Abyss's ability to concentrate. The Eye offers limited Essence Soul reinforcement, but its world-type design is much weaker against a specialized soul weapon. After Magic Awl injuries damage his Essence Soul, he can barely control the prison, his strength falls to roughly thirty or forty percent, and Astral Waves further disrupt him. The technique therefore gives peak Creation-level pressure in favorable conditions without curing his decisive Essence Soul weakness. (Chapters 401–406)
Blood Fiend Armor and physical combat
Starquix gives Nine Abyss the Blood Fiend Armor, which he spends half a year fully refining and integrating into the possessed body. The armor improves his direct combat strength and works beneath the dark-red robe produced by the Eye. Nine Abyss uses palm and fist techniques rather than a named weapon, combining the armor's protection with a demon sage's vitality. He can survive volleys of Bloodblades and phoenix arrows long enough to counterattack, and an ordinary Regis Godfiend is unable to survive his opening assault. (Chapters 282–283, 400–403)
The armor is not impenetrable. Liu Qiyue's phoenix-enhanced arrow pierces the dark-red robe, Blood Fiend Armor, and Nine Abyss's chest after Meng Chuan's soul attacks prevent an effective defense. Burning golden flames remain in the wound, forcing him to choose between retreat and death. The corpus does not state a repair ritual, energy cost, or later upgrade, so its latest confirmed state is the integrated armor still carried by Nine Abyss when he escapes, not an artifact proven capable of stopping Tribulation-level attacks. (Chapters 403–405)
Essence Soul and command resources
Nine Abyss has at least a fifth-level Essence Soul, an Essence Soul domain that perceives incoming soul weapons, and unusually strong willpower that lets him remain lucid after Magic Awl penetration. Three strikes nevertheless destroy a tenth of his Essence Soul Origins. He estimates that complete recovery will take a century, and the injury sharply reduces physical technique control during that period. He notes that a sixth-level Essence Soul could have resisted better or produced useful Essence Soul avatars, confirming that he has not reached that level at the time of battle. (Chapters 402–406)
His noncombat strength comes from the mobile grotto-heaven and a layered command network. The grotto-heaven warps selected subordinates into a hidden space, transports large groups, and lets him rapidly withdraw after deploying them. Tokens, dossiers, regional commanders, and Thousand Cricket's curse network provide intelligence that Nine Abyss himself cannot gather everywhere at once. These are strategic resources rather than inherent perceptions: he depends on reports, can be misled by secrecy, and ultimately hands routine command to North Sense before the assassination. (Chapters 244–265, 282–298, 353–398)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Weak possessed vessel | 244 | Enters the human world by possessing a body that can cross the World Entrance, temporarily giving up the full power of his original demon-sage body. |
| Demon-sage cultivation restored | By 400 | Decades of rebuilding return the substitute body to demon-sage power, which Nine Abyss amplifies through Nine Abyss Land and the Dark-Red Prison. |
| Essence Soul Origins damaged | 402–405 | Repeated Magic Awls destroy part of his soul foundation and reduce control to a fraction of normal; recovery is expected to require a century. |
| Human-world access lost | 405 | Tears through the world membrane to survive, but the restored possessed body cannot reenter; another infiltration would require a new weak vessel and decades of rebuilding. |
Relationships
- Meng Chuan: Nine Abyss first treats him as an unidentified threat to the invasion's numerical advantage, helps identify him through bait demon monarchs, and later tries to assassinate him. Meng Chuan's Essence Soul attacks force Nine Abyss out of the human world.
- Liu Qiyue: Meng Chuan's wife and Nine Abyss's second opponent inside the Dark-Red Prison. Her phoenix-enhanced arrows become lethal after his Essence Soul is injured, prompting his retreat.
- Imperial Lord Starquix: One of Nine Abyss's rulers and the source of his Blood Fiend Armor. Nine Abyss reports Meng Chuan's identity to Starquix and attacks after Starquix's karmic curse fails.
- Demon Sage Thousand Cricket: The curse specialist whose karmic blood marks let Nine Abyss identify Meng Chuan. Nine Abyss supplies operational access and evaluates the resulting evidence.
- Qin Wu: The human Creation Supremacy whose approach ends Nine Abyss's remaining escape window. Nine Abyss opens the world membrane beside Emperor Roc in an unsuccessful attempt to lure Qin Wu into an outer-realm ambush.
Items
- Eye of the Dark Realm: A world-type Tribulation treasure lent as Nine Abyss's reward for the Meng Chuan assassination. It creates the Dark-Red Prison, supplies World Power, amplifies Nine Abyss Land, and traps targets behind a living membrane. His right to use it lasts for life only while he remains in the Demon Realm; the corpus does not show whether it was returned when he later withdrew to the outer realm.
