Jeon Myeong-hoon

Jeon Myeong-hoon is one of the seven people transported from Earth in A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation. He begins as Seo Eun-hyun’s hostile workplace superior, but the Heavenly Golden Thunder Body draws him into the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect and a struggle with the power governing heavenly punishment. Pride, grief, and coerced destiny repeatedly threaten to define him. His mature path instead turns inherited lightning into a self-chosen responsibility: he preserves his sect, refuses the deity behind his suffering, and ultimately names the terms under which he will carry Heavenly Punishment.

Biography

An unwanted world and a chosen constitution

Jeon arrives in the new world still carrying the hierarchy and resentment of the office. Frightened by their circumstances and humiliated when Seo understands more than he does, he responds with threats and physical aggression rather than cooperation. The behavior is cruel, but it also establishes the pressure beneath his pride: Jeon cannot bear being powerless before a subordinate he previously controlled. His conflict with Seo therefore begins as a struggle for familiar status in a world where neither man yet understands the rules. (Chapters 0, 1–3)

The cultivators on Ascension Path give Jeon an identity that appears to solve that fear. His Heavenly Golden Thunder Body is extraordinary enough to attract a lightning lineage immediately, separating him from the companions who are not chosen or are claimed by other factions. Yet selection does not give him effortless mastery. In later cycles the sect’s inherited method fits him poorly enough that his advancement is painfully slow, leaving the supposedly heaven-favored recruit dependent on teachers who do not initially understand his body. When Seo deliberately enters the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect in the seventeenth cycle, Jeon has reason to distrust him: Seo knows too much, advances impossibly fast, and takes an intrusive interest in Jeon’s training. Even so, Seo’s instruction produces results where ordinary sect methods have failed. Jeon accepts the humiliating position of learning from a former subordinate because strength, the sect’s survival, and his growing place within that community matter more than preserving the old workplace hierarchy. Their relationship begins changing from coercive superiority into rivalry and reluctant trust. (Chapters 222–242)

Jin So-hae and the owner of heavenly punishment

Jeon’s early cultivation remains laborious even under Seo’s guidance. He reaches the seventh Qi Refining star only after a difficult start, then advances through Qi Building while being driven by training severe enough to provoke anger at both his assigned master and Seo. That frustration does not make him abandon the sect. Instead, he studies its accumulated lightning methods and begins building a path suited to his own body, turning the gap between inherited doctrine and innate constitution into a reason to understand the lineage more deeply. (Chapters 229–251)

Jin So-hae gives that effort a future beyond wounded pride. Their bond develops while Jeon rises from Qi Building through Nascent Soul and toward Heavenly Being; after a modest Dao Companion ceremony, they plan a second, proper public celebration. The union makes the sect a family he has chosen rather than merely the faction that claimed him. Jin Byuk-ho, once a severe authority who sees Jeon’s slow progress as failure, comes to recognize him as a genuine successor. (Chapters 242–260)

That future is destroyed when the authority behind the Heavenly Lightning Banner descends through the sect’s sacred power. Jeon reaches Heavenly Being and instinctively engraves the Red Lightning Heavenly Tribulation method, absorbing and redirecting punishment that would otherwise annihilate those around him. The breakthrough cannot save Jin So-hae. Her death leaves him carrying both her remains and a hatred no ordinary enemy can satisfy, while Seo’s revelation of repeated cycles gives him the terrible knowledge that the catastrophe is larger than one failed defense. (Chapters 258–268)

Jeon nevertheless does not let grief end with indiscriminate destruction. He fights beside Seo and Kim Young-hoon, helps preserve the sect’s survivors, and carries responsibility through the passage toward the Head Realm. The loss permanently fixes Heavenly Punishment as his enemy, but it also completes the first reversal in his relationship with Seo: the man he once bullied becomes a comrade who entrusts him with truths capable of breaking a person, and Jeon answers by continuing to protect the people still alive. Chief Law Protector of Wuji

When Jeon reunites with Seo’s group in the Nether Ghost Realm, he is no longer merely a bereaved sect disciple. He is searching for scattered members of the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect and measuring every alliance by whether it helps preserve that lineage. Joining the Wuji Religious Order gives him resources and companions, but it does not erase his independent loyalty. As Chief Law Protector, he supports Seo’s new community while insisting that the sect and its unresolved grievance remain more than accessories to Seo’s larger plan. (Chapters 327–345)

Jeon builds all Five Elements Axes and reaches Grand Perfection Four-Axis, creating a complete foundation rather than relying only on the special constitution that first made him valuable. During the order’s flight and defensive battles, he acts as one of its principal combatants, withstands escalating tribulations, and contributes the equivalent of a third axis when Seo opens the side path. His Integration breakthrough makes Heaven and Earth Unity operative through lightning on a world scale, but the power is valuable because it lets him hold a line for others, not because it restores his old sense of rank. The Ancient Force Realm tests that leadership through displacement and loss. Jeon remains blunt and combative, yet he increasingly restrains rather than destabilizes his companions, challenges Seo when private impulses threaten the group, and carries the practical burden of a Law Protector. His rivalry with Seo never disappears; it becomes a relationship in which anger can be spoken without dissolving loyalty. By the time later cycles erase and restore their communities, Jeon has become one of the people Seo can trust to oppose him honestly rather than obey him blindly. (Chapters 359–410)

The Golden Divine successor

During the Three Great Disasters, Jeon fights beside his surviving companions rather than waiting for a perfect answer to Heavenly Punishment. His manifested consciousness helps oppose Kang Min-hee, and his lightning becomes an asymmetric weapon against Sacred Master Baek Woon: the spears connected to Yang Su-jin’s authority can injure a being whom Seo could not confront directly on equal terms. These victories do not free Jeon from the lineage’s higher owner, but they show that the inherited force can be wielded in defense of choices the owner did not dictate. (Chapters 413–435)

The Lightning Sacred Sea then forces Jeon into a more intimate confrontation with succession. Golden Shaking Bird, the collective Thunder Beast left by Yang Su-jin, recognizes him as the living heir to her master’s lightning and keeps him within the Tower of Trials for training. Seo and the expedition attempt to retrieve him, but Jeon is not simply passive treasure: his aptitude, sect responsibility, and compatibility are the reason every side contests the tower’s future. By the approaching End, he has reached mid Star Shattering and later Sacred Vessel, making the successor capable of standing among Sacred Masters rather than merely inheriting their relics. (Chapters 478–519, 541)

His True Immortal advancement begins under coercive circumstances. Seeing Seo’s sealed True Immortal body and the Northern Dipper seal triggers a forced ascent, while the Heavenly Punishment Supreme Deity personally brings a tribulation shaped by the same authority Jeon has opposed throughout his life. The Heavenly Golden Thunder Body gives exceptional affinity and resistance, but also makes hiding from that attention impossible. Jeon survives, receives an Immortal Title, and reunites with Seo as a fellow True Immortal rather than as the junior cultivator whose path must be carried for him. (Chapters 559–573)

Refusing the patron and becoming a Heavenly King

True Immortality does not end Jeon’s dependence on the system behind Heavenly Punishment. When Zhengli offers safety through service to Do Gon, Jeon rejects the bargain with open fury, even though refusal keeps him exposed while the group crosses hostile Heavenly Domains. His loyalty to Seo and the displaced companions is not gentle or deferential; it is expressed as an unwillingness to accept survival purchased by serving the source of his sect’s suffering. This decision turns the old grudge from a reaction into a principle he consciously maintains. (Chapters 592–594)

Jeon later completes the Great Net advancement in the Purple Lotus Realm, and the birth of a new Middle Realm confirms that his Immortal Dao of Heavenly Punishment is now a world-bearing path of his own. He does not celebrate as though realm alone has solved the past. His bitter response to congratulations shows that Do Gon and Jin So-hae remain part of the meaning of the advancement. Power gives him the capacity to settle that history, but it cannot decide what settlement would honor the dead. (Chapters 615–623)

The confrontation with Do Gon finally separates Jeon’s authority from compulsory obedience. Jeon fights with the restored Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect, offers Do Gon’s life to the spirits harmed by that power, and watches the last fragment of Jin So-hae he carried dissolve with his resentment. He refuses both Do Gon’s claim of victory and the easy release of simply declaring his anger finished. By taking the Seat of Heavenly Punishment and imposing a new prophecy, he chooses to bear the anger of Do Gon’s followers until they can reclaim Zhengli and the truth through their own hands. (Chapters 685–694)

That self-binding produces the Red Pearl Cycling Heavenly King. Jeon turns Zhengli back into the Heavenly Lightning Banner, makes the lightning of the Three Heavens answer his name, and places himself at the vanguard where the Jade Pivot Lightning Immortals must both hunt and preserve him. On the road to the Audience Chamber, his spear expresses the enlightenment running through his whole life: punishment is no longer a divine command imposed upon him, but a responsibility whose cycle he has defined. His will joins the Enders in the final struggle and remains part of their restored connections afterward. (Chapters 694, 783–804, 814)

Appearance and personality

On Earth and at the first arrival, Jeon is physically expressive: anger, embarrassment, and resentment show readily, and he uses his larger workplace authority as though force can restore control. Cultivation gives him a more imposing visual identity. He wears golden robes, fights with a spear, and is surrounded by red, gold, or seven-colored lightning. At True Immortality and beyond, thunder fills his domain; as a Heavenly King, he can appear as a three-headed, three-eyed, eight-armed Lightning God whose red radiance is visible across creation. Jeon remains proud, blunt, quick-tempered, and combative. His development does not erase anger but gives it direction. He can hold grudges for ages, refuse conciliatory bargains, and answer pressure with a spear, yet his most consequential choices protect his sect, his companions, and the dead whose grievances he carries. His mature loyalty includes disagreement: he can restrain Seo, reject a patron offering survival, and fight beside people he once resented without pretending their history was harmless. (Chapters 222–280, 327–410, 592–594, 685–694)

Abilities and cultivation

Jeon’s cultivation is centered on the Heavenly Golden Thunder Body and the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect’s lightning lineage. The constitution supplies exceptional affinity and access to heavenly punishment, while the sect’s methods, Five Elements Axes, spear arts, and later Immortal Dao give that potential stable forms. Its blessing and danger remain inseparable: the same connection that lets him command transcendent lightning also makes him visible to Do Gon, Zhengli, and the Heavenly Punishment Supreme Deity. Heavenly Golden Thunder Body

The Heavenly Golden Thunder Body is an innate constitution recognized immediately on Ascension Path. It grants profound compatibility with heavenly lightning, including the capacity to absorb, withstand, redirect, and regenerate through states that would destroy ordinary cultivators. That affinity does not automatically teach the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect’s exact formulas. Jeon’s early progress is slow because body and inherited method require reconciliation, and the gap is closed through study, harsh training, and the creation of a path suited to his own structure. (Chapters 2–3, 223–251)

At higher realms, the body transforms heavenly punishment from an external disaster into usable authority. Jeon’s movement, spear attacks, and restoration can be driven by red or golden divine lightning, while his resistance lets him survive advancement tribulations and injure targets above an ordinary cultivator’s weight. The limitation is causal as much as physical: using that authority links him to its divine owner, exposes him to forced advancement, and makes the lineage’s relics capable of influencing or enchanting him. Golden Divine lightning, spear arts, and the Heavenly Lightning Banner

Jeon channels Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder principally through a spear. The weapon concentrates piercing force and lets his sect’s lightning act in coordinated formations; at high rank, one thrust can carry both personal cultivation and the accumulated will of the Golden Divine lineage. His Red Lightning Heavenly Tribulation authority is first engraved instinctively during the sect catastrophe, allowing him to receive punishment, redistribute it, and prevent every bolt from falling solely upon weaker allies. The act remains dangerous because every red tribulation draws him closer to the source he hates. (Chapters 258–268, 345–355, 685–694)

The Heavenly Lightning Belt gives him close authority over the Heavenly Lightning Banner after his Heavenly Being cultivation stabilizes. The Banner magnifies the lineage’s reach but is not neutral equipment: Zhengli can act through it, and the will behind Heavenly Punishment can use it as a route into Jeon and his sect. Only after becoming Red Pearl Cycling Heavenly King does Jeon reverse that relationship, transforming Zhengli into the Banner under his control and using it to generate an immense spear formation against Radiance Hall. (Chapters 258–268, 592–594, 685–694)

Five Elements Axes and Heaven and Earth Unity

Jeon constructs Five Elements Axes at Four-Axis rather than relying on a narrow lightning foundation. The complete set establishes Grand Perfection and supports Heaven and Earth Unity, through which his internal cultivation and the world’s lightning act as one integrated domain. This provides the stable framework for his advance to Integration and his later rise through Star Shattering and Sacred Vessel. The axes do not sever the risk of divine attention, and newly reached higher states still require stabilization rather than granting immediate mastery over every manifestation. (Chapters 345–355, 515–541)

At Star Shattering and Sacred Vessel, Jeon’s lightning operates across stellar and realm scales. His spears can interact with Sacred Master bodies and higher seals, while his domain supports both destructive tribulation and protection. These stages also prepare the inner-world structure necessary for True Immortality. The final advancement is permanent, but its beginning is forced: the Heavenly Punishment Supreme Deity answers his exposure to Seo’s sealed true body, turning what should be personal cultivation into another confrontation with inherited fate. (Chapters 434–435, 515–541, 559–562)

Immortal Dao of Heavenly Punishment

Jeon’s True Immortal domain is born in thunder and lightning. By Great Net, his Immortal Dao of Heavenly Punishment can sustain a new Middle Realm, proving that the authority is no longer merely a technique borrowed from a sect artifact. The source establishes the realm and its world-bearing effect, but it does not make Jeon immune to patronage or history: Do Gon can still offer coercive protection, and the unresolved bond with Zhengli remains a route through which the ancient grievance can act. (Chapters 559–562, 592–594, 615–623)

Red Pearl Cycling authority

Red Pearl Cycling is Jeon’s self-manifested Heavenly King authority after he takes the Seat and Origin Essence of Heavenly Punishment. It makes lightning throughout the Three Heavens answer his prophecy, lets him read Zhengli’s history through the Seat’s partial relation to Taiji, and gives him power virtually indistinguishable from the former Heavenly Punishment Supreme Deity. Its defining limitation is one Jeon chooses: the Jade Pivot Lightning Immortals must be able to reclaim Zhengli from him, so he binds himself to remain their foremost target while arranging matters so they must also protect him from other enemies. (Chapter 694)

The authority’s name establishes the cycle rather than explaining a separate elemental mechanic. Jeon uses it to place himself permanently at the dangerous vanguard, carry the unresolved anger of Do Gon’s followers, and deny resurrection until the truth can be confronted on his terms. Because he seizes the Origin Essence itself, regression does not remove the identity. His latest demonstrated state is therefore the Red Pearl Cycling Heavenly King: a lightning authority defined by chosen obligation rather than imposed service. (Chapters 694, 783–804)

Relationships

• Seo Eun-hyun: Former subordinate, teacher, rival, and enduring comrade. Their relationship begins with workplace abuse and mistrust, but repeated training, shared grief, and mutual rescue produce a bond strong enough for Jeon to challenge Seo without abandoning him.
• Jin So-hae: Jeon’s Dao Companion and wife in the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect. Her death anchors his hatred of Heavenly Punishment, while the last remnant he carries finally dissolves during the confrontation with Do Gon.
• Jin Byuk-ho: Supreme Sect Master whose early frustration with Jeon’s slow progress becomes pride in a genuine Golden Divine successor.
• Golden Shaking Bird: Yang Su-jin’s Thunder Beast and keeper of the Lightning Sacred Sea. She recognizes Jeon as the successor to her master’s lineage, trains and confines him, and later travels beside him through the True Immortal realms.

• Kim Yeon: Fellow Earthling and Wuji leader. Jeon protects her during later conflicts and accepts her practical authority within the community even when his primary loyalty remains with the Golden Divine sect.
• Do Gon and Zhengli: The divine source and embodied banner authority behind Heavenly Punishment. Jeon refuses their patronage, takes their Seat and history into his own hands, and turns the old coercive relationship into the self-imposed cycle defining Red Pearl Cycling.
