Golden Shaking Bird — A Regressor's Tale of Cultivation

Golden Shaking Bird, also called Gold Shaking Bird, is the fully matured Thunder Beast who governs the Lightning Sacred Sea’s Tower of Trials in A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation. Yang Su-jin created her by fusing the bodies and vengeful spirits of the Thunder Bird Golden Shaking Sect he destroyed, making him simultaneously her master, beloved, creator, and source of suffering. After Seo Eun-hyun offers her a future beyond the tower’s sacrificial purpose, she becomes a mobile companion and guide whose knowledge of Immortal Beasts, Heavenly Domains, and True Immortal cultivation outlives her original role.

Biography

Final gatekeeper of the Tower

Golden Shaking Bird confronts Seo Eun-hyun’s expedition as master of the Lightning Sacred Sea’s Tower of Trials. The group seeks Jeon Myeong-hoon and Yang Su-jin’s legacy, while she controls the floors, gates, trials, and access to the treasure route. Her ceremonial administration conceals a personal stake: Jeon is the living successor to her master’s lightning, and the tower’s transfer mechanism threatens to dismantle the collective body through which she survives. Her origin explains the cruelty and contradiction of the tests. Yang Su-jin annihilated the Thunder Bird Golden Shaking Sect, fused its remains and vengeful spirits into a Thunder Beast weapon, and then treated the resulting being as attendant, concubine, and pet. Golden Shaking Bird loves him, resents him, and protects the purpose he left behind. She confines entrants and manipulates Jeon’s training while also allowing routes that can preserve the inheritance rather than simply destroying every challenger. (Chapters 482–495)

Seo’s party learns that defeating the gatekeeper is not the same as solving her existence. The tower can separate her into innumerable derived Thunder Beasts and transfer control to a successor, so compliance with Yang’s design may itself annihilate the person guarding it. Jeon’s importance becomes larger than retrieving treasure: his compatibility gives the lineage a future, while the party must decide whether succession requires treating Golden Shaking Bird as another consumable component. A remaining dream beyond Yang Su-jin

When True Immortal Seo returns to the damaged Lightning Sacred Sea, Golden Shaking Bird greets him through the hierarchy Yang established and eagerly seeks proof that her master remembered her. Threats to that memory provoke battle, while her hatred of Yeo Hwi produces brutal retaliation. Seo neither dismisses the pain nor permits her obsession to control every decision. He completes Yang’s request while offering Golden Shaking Bird a reason to continue that does not end in obedient self-destruction. (Chapters 548–565)

Accepting a remaining dream changes her without curing every fixation. She still praises Yang, carries biases shaped by his methods, and reacts violently to people connected with her abuse. Yet she chooses to survive, travel, advise, and recognize Jeon as a successor rather than remaining stationary until the tower consumes her. The living being formed from a destroyed sect begins to separate her own future from the purpose imposed by the person who made her. (Chapters 559–573)

Her new place depends on relationships rather than ownership. Seo relies on her knowledge but challenges her excesses; Jeon carries the lightning lineage without replacing her; and Yeo Hwi becomes both hated former abuser and fellow traveler. Golden Shaking Bird’s identity thus broadens from programmed guardian into an elder companion who can negotiate, teach, and make decisions in a universe no longer organized around waiting for Yang Su-jin’s return. Guide across Heavenly Domains

Beyond the Sun and Moon Heavenly Domain, Golden Shaking Bird repeatedly supplies mobility the group lacks. She rescues and transports companions, crosses the Source River, changes between small and large bird forms, and scouts dangerous regions. Her ability to recognize the rules of Heavenly Domains lets Seo and Jeon move without treating every unknown boundary as an ordinary spatial distance. The former tower guardian becomes the expedition’s navigator through environments built for True Immortals and Immortal Beasts. (Chapters 574–620)

She also negotiates around the Great Desolate Path’s main-soul function rather than administering it as an unquestioned order. The discussions show the practical difference between her old and new roles: within the tower she could imprison challengers and invoke mechanisms, while on the road she must explain constraints, bargain with allies, and accept that other people retain their own purposes. Her cosmological knowledge becomes valuable independently of the Lightning Sacred Sea’s coercive machinery. (Chapters 588–620)

Golden Shaking Bird remains active through later coalition movements, scouting, carrying allies, and maintaining her ties to Jeon, Seo, and the Immortal Treasures. No later formal rank breakthrough is established; she was already a fully matured Thunder Beast when introduced. Her latest condition is continued life as a traveling Immortal Beast whose collective origin remains part of her, but whose choices no longer reduce to guarding a tower until it disassembles her. Appearance and personality

Her human transformation appears as a young girl with platinum hair, soft bare feet, and a robe made of lightning; derived mature forms appear as long-haired women in thunder robes. She can also take bird forms ranging from roughly hummingbird size to much larger bodies suited to carrying companions between realms. “Golden Shaking Bird” and “Gold Shaking Bird” refer to this same collective Thunder Beast, not separate juvenile and mature entities. She is ceremonious and cunning as an administrator, obsessive and unstable regarding Yang Su-jin, and lively when explaining the master or cosmology she knows. Her possessiveness grows from genuine love, manufactured dependence, sect-wide resentment, and fear of dissolution. Travel lets a more self-directed personality emerge: she bargains, teaches, jokes, scouts, and protects, although old hatreds and Yang-centered assumptions continue to distort her judgment. Abilities and cultivation

Fully matured Thunder Beast body

Golden Shaking Bird’s body is a collective Immortal Beast weapon assembled from the Thunder Bird Golden Shaking Sect and Yang Su-jin’s lightning authority. It channels immense lightning, transforms between humanoid and avian configurations, divides into derived Thunder Beasts, and supports combat and travel near True Immortal scale. The collective construction gives her more than one physical expression, but the connected spirits and central personality are treated as one continuing Golden Shaking Bird. (Chapters 482–495, 548–565, 574–598)

Her maturation is an established condition rather than an advancement shown after introduction. The Tower of Trials can disassemble the collective, Yang’s embedded mechanisms constrain her, and her emotional fixation creates openings that opponents can exploit. Leaving the tower removes the immediate stationary role but not every structural vulnerability. Her latest body remains capable of travel, scouting, and lightning support; no named higher personal rank is confirmed by Chapter 804. (Chapters 482–495, 548–598, 804)

Lightning Sacred Sea administration

As final gatekeeper, Golden Shaking Bird controls the Tower’s floors, internal dimensions, doors, trials, training systems, and treasure access. She can bind challengers, keep Jeon inside a cultivation route, seal damage, and open or obstruct routes toward Yang Su-jin’s vault. Her administration is therefore both technical authority and a test of succession, using the environment itself rather than relying only on direct lightning combat. (Chapters 479–495)

The authority contains its own trap. The tower’s mechanisms are designed to break her collective body apart and shift ownership to a qualified successor, so mastery of the system does not grant safety from it. Once traveling, she cannot reproduce every tower function wherever she wishes. She instead uses understanding of the Great Desolate Path and inherited mechanisms to negotiate arrangements with the group, making expertise rather than absolute local control her durable contribution. True Immortal cosmological knowledge and travel

Long service to Yang Su-jin and survival as an Immortal Beast give Golden Shaking Bird practical knowledge of cultivation pathways, Immortal Beast exceptions, Heavenly Domain rules, prophecy, ritual options, and safe movement. She explains structures that even powerful new True Immortals do not yet understand, carries companions across enormous distances, and scouts domains before the group commits its main force. Her different bird sizes let her adapt between concealment, conversation, and transport. (Chapters 562–620)

Knowledge does not make her impartial or omniscient. Yang’s methods shape many of her assumptions, personal hatred can override measured advice, and unfamiliar higher authorities still require caution. Seo frequently relies on her explanations while refusing her more destructive conclusions. By the later campaign, this advisory role is one of her most important abilities: it lets the expedition avoid errors of cosmology and protocol that raw power alone would not solve. Relationships

Yang Su-jin: Creator, destroyer of her sect, beloved master, and defining obsession. Her movement beyond the Tower begins when she accepts that honoring his remaining request need not require her own annihilation.
Jeon Myeong-hoon: Successor to Yang’s lightning lineage and long-term companion. Golden Shaking Bird trains and confines him, then travels beside him as the inheritance becomes a living partnership.
