Ru Vassa

Ru Vassa is the founding God of the Ru Clan and a spell-oriented member of the Great Clan coalition. She combines divine magic, spatial control, and an unusually frank instinct for survival, repeatedly warning allies against opponents they underestimate. Her caution preserves her through the Pit and two encounters with Grudgekeeper, but political losses, attachment to Yu Kiro, and confidence that a God cannot be executed by Demi-Gods draw her into Leo Skyshard's prepared final battle.

Biography

Mage God in the betrayers' coalition

Ru Vassa belongs to the six founding Great Clan Gods who helped destroy the Timeless Assassin's order and later endured beneath the Universal Government. A recovered scene of the original betrayal's aftermath shows her weaving a spatial snare of refracted steps against Soron, only for him to find one structural knot and collapse the entire reflected net. Millennia later, she still remembers him as the greatest fighter after his father and opposes an immediate break from the Righteous Alliance while he lives. Her position is not loyalty to Kaelith's government: she wants Ru Clan autonomy, but believes waiting a few centuries for Soron's expected death is safer than forcing a divine confrontation the Great Clan coalition cannot reliably win. At the All Gods Summit, Ru first turns the independence challenge into a concrete Ru Clan demand: the Universal Government must stop poaching branch-family talents without clan approval. When the parties cannot agree on tribute and the summit becomes a battle, she and Yu Kiro move to help their allies, but Mauriss breaks their coordination through temporal echoes and cuts her across the eye. Su Ren's permanent death then changes the calculation. Ru recognizes that Kaelith's Origin dagger makes continued parity illusory and becomes the first remaining rebel to accept a new soul contract. Her surrender leaves the other three Great Clan Gods too isolated to continue, trading another two thousand years of subordination for immediate survival. (Chapters 588–591)

The renewed contract obliges Ru to participate in the Pit operation even though she expects Soron to recognize the ambush and knows the Great Clan Gods cannot refuse their new masters. She therefore focuses on surviving the coalition around her rather than trusting it. Before the execution she joins the other Clan Gods in hoping Helmuth and Soron weaken or kill one another, which could release the Clans from Universal control. During Chakravyuh she maintains the barrier lattice with divine energy, helping confine Soron to three dimensions while the formation holds. Her role is consequently both magical and political: she sustains the prison that makes the execution possible while privately treating every stronger ally's injury as an opening for independence. When Chakravyuh collapses, Ru joins the chase and initially charges with the same pride she criticizes in others. Soron cuts a shallow line across her hip with Grudgekeeper; the small wound permanently resists divine regeneration and forces her back to layered long-range formations. She rains sigils, fire, void magic, and binding spells while the coalition exhausts the poisoned Cult master, then watches Kaelith deliver the heart wound. Afterward she tries to bind Mauriss when he steals Grudgekeeper, but cannot reclaim it. Bleeding, exhausted, and aware that the blade has changed the balance, Ru rejects Mu Shen's proposal for an immediate war against Kaelith. The Pit leaves her alive and victorious in public, yet personally scarred and more certain that survival requires refusing reckless momentum. (Chapters 956–974)

Retaliation and failed alliance against Leo

Helmuth's disappearance and Mauriss's defection remove the two pillars that once made Kaelith's rule enforceable. Ru helps the five Great Clan Gods sever their Righteous Alliance ties and proposes independent clans cooperating without formal subordination. Her letter goes further, inviting Kaelith to join them as an equal leader of a theoretical sixth clan, an offer he experiences as humiliation rather than compromise. Independence does not create trust among the new partners, but it changes Ru's strategic position from vassal to one of several balancing sovereigns. She expects collective numbers to check Kaelith, Mauriss, and Moltherak, while retaining the freedom to prioritize Ru territory and personnel instead of supporting a universal army directed from the Eternal Garden. Mauriss attacks the weakness in that arrangement personally. Ru receives him inside the Sky-Fortress of Vassa behind layered movement dampeners, spatial anchors, and displacement buffers designed to delay any rush long enough for escape. While proposing a smaller ruling coalition, he covertly overloads the wards; when Ru notices, he uses Grudgekeeper in an attempted decapitation. Her reflexive fourth-dimensional retreat saves her, but the blade opens a permanent wound across the back of her neck and destabilizes the journey to Yu Kiro's residence. Ru identifies Yu Kiro as her secret lover and treats his protection as the safest refuge while weakened. Their response turns the assassination into a declaration of war and pushes the frightened Great Clans back under Kaelith's nominal coordination. (Chapters 998–1000, 1006, and 1025)

Ru demands the first strike in the coalition's counterattack and helps lure Mauriss to Helion-6 rather than entering his prepared Granada domain. Her magical spear and spells land real damage on him during the ambush, but Moltherak's arrival divides the fight and overwhelms ordinary divine assumptions. Radiant Skybreaker and repeated spears fail to stop the Dragon; when he reveals Origin-coated teeth, Ru withdraws rather than accept another permanent wound. She remains angry at the humiliation and neck pain, yet accurately recognizes that his scale and spell control make revenge technically difficult. The failed trap vindicates her fear of Origin weapons and her caution about attacking specialists on favorable terrain, but it also leaves Mauriss free and the Great Clan alliance no closer to restoring the old balance. Yu Kiro's disappearance and the Cult's capture of three Ru worlds make containment personal. Ru resists the other Gods' attempt to divide Yu territory, insists it be returned when he reappears, and proposes destroying Satoru before the Cult can produce more Demi-Gods. Only Kaelith joins her. Ru enters the battle confident that waking from sleep would be enough to kill a few Demi-Gods, but Leo uses Seconds Walk to appear behind her before she can track him. Dumpy disrupts her divine-essence flow, causing Unbreakable Defense to fail, and Leo spatially exchanges his ordinary blade for Grudgekeeper. The execution cut follows Mauriss's existing neck wound and decapitates her before regeneration can answer. Her corpse is displayed beside Kaelith's head, and the Ru Clan's immediate disorder confirms that her personal survival had remained the foundation of its political security. Appearance and personality

Ru Vassa has flowing crimson hair and an appearance described as overtly seductive even among the gathered Gods. She wears long robes, a golden wrist cuff, and, for war, dark metallic armor covered in layers of glowing divine runes. Her arrival carries the pressure of a restrained storm: tightly controlled mana cools the surrounding air rather than erupting without purpose. Combat and Origin Metal progressively mark that presentation. Mauriss cuts her across the eye at the summit, Soron leaves a nonhealing wound at her hip, and Mauriss later carves the thick scar across the back of her neck that Leo uses for the final decapitation line. She is proud, politically ambitious, and capable of cold opportunism, but less willing than many peers to mistake pride for favorable odds. Ru warns against provoking Soron, folds when Su Ren's death proves the summit unwinnable, refuses an immediate post-Pit war while wounded, and retreats when Moltherak reveals another Origin threat. She can still be manipulated: Mauriss uses conversation to draw attention from her wards, while Ru's final confidence dismisses four Demi-Gods as trivial. Her loyalty is strongest where personal feeling and clan interest overlap. She protects Ru talent, is disgusted by the rush to divide Yu Kiro's territory, and accepts the fatal Satoru alliance after losing both him and several Ru planets. Abilities and power progression

Ru Vassa is already an ancient God when introduced, and the corpus does not show her mortal cultivation or a later realm breakthrough. Her progression is instead tactical: an established mage moves from broad confidence in divine regeneration toward warded spaces, escape contingencies, and refusal to engage exposed Origin weapons. Her latest state is permanent death by Origin decapitation; no later recovery, soul survival, or replacement is sourced.

Divine body, regeneration, and fourth-dimensional movement

As a God, Ru possesses divine essence, extreme reflexes, overwhelming pressure, and access to the Fourth Dimension. She can open a portal quickly enough to escape Mauriss after his ambush has already begun and can travel between distant divine territories through higher-dimensional geometry. Ordinary wounds fall within a God's regenerative authority, but Origin Metal is the explicit counter. Grudgekeeper's hip and neck cuts refuse to heal, disrupt control, and continue inflicting pain long after combat. The neck wound also makes later traversal unstable. In the final battle, decapitation through that same Origin-damaged line prevents the divine essence flooding the wound from restoring her body, establishing that reflex and regeneration do not survive every permanent separation. Spell formations, restraints, and destructive magic

Ru fights by shaping divine essence into layered magical structures rather than relying primarily on a physical weapon. Her repertoire includes refracted spatial snares, mirrored nets, binding sigils, fire-and-void bombardment, conjured spears, Radiant Skybreaker, Violent Cataclysm, Coiled Serpent, and Unbreakable Defense. These spells control movement, attack from multiple angles, or create a defensive response at the instant of danger. They remain structure-dependent. Soron breaks the decisive knot of her reflected net, Mauriss steps through the timing gaps between binding layers, Moltherak withstands Radiant Skybreaker, and Dumpy's interference stops divine essence from forming Unbreakable Defense. Ru's magic can damage a God such as Mauriss when allies create openings, but neither breadth nor raw scale makes the casting flow immune to disruption. Wards, dimensional security, and escape limits

The Sky-Fortress of Vassa integrates invisible containment fields, delayed-approach barriers, movement dampeners, spatial anchors, displacement buffers, and contingency runes. Together they are designed to slow a divine intruder rather than defeat one, buying the fraction needed for Ru to open a fourth-dimensional exit. Mauriss demonstrates the limitation: by talking while feeding nearly invisible essence into the network, he induces delayed recalibration and microscopic fractures before crossing the chamber. Ru still escapes because she detects the final delay and reacts, but the blade reaches her neck first. This defensive model is intelligent and evidence-scaled—layering time, detection, and retreat—yet it depends on sustained attention and cannot guarantee safety against a specialist who attacks the system rather than the visible barrier. Battlefield role and latest counters

Ru can feed divine energy continuously into Chakravyuh's barrier lattice, maintain long-range formations during a pursuit, and combine restraints with an ally's killing strike, as attempted when Coiled Serpent holds Leo for Kaelith's Crownfall. These roles make her valuable in a coalition, but they also rely on partners and coordinated timing. Temporal echoes break the summit formation, Soron's speed escapes her layered attacks, and Leo's Seconds Walk bypasses her tracking before she can reorient. The final counter is deliberately multi-part: Leo chooses distance and timing, Dumpy interrupts her casting, and Grudgekeeper supplies the permanent edge. Ru dies not because her God rank disappears, but because a prepared team neutralizes perception, defense, and regeneration in sequence. (Chapters 590, 924, and 956–968; Chapters 1153–1155)

• Yu Kiro: Yu Kiro is Ru's secret lover and a recurring political ally. She seeks his refuge after Mauriss wounds her, defends his holdings after his disappearance, and becomes one of the few Gods motivated by more than opportunism when the others begin dividing his clan.
• Mauriss: Mauriss helps force Ru into the renewed soul contract, steals Grudgekeeper despite her binding attempt, and later penetrates her fortress wards to nearly decapitate her. The permanent neck scar turns strategic distrust into personal hatred and drives her participation in the failed Helion-6 trap.
• Soron: Ru remembers Soron as second only to the Timeless Assassin and repeatedly warns against provoking him. She helps imprison and exhaust him at the Pit, where his Grudgekeeper cut permanently wounds her hip before the coalition kills him.
• Leo Skyshard: Ru initially treats the Demi-God Leo as beneath proper acknowledgment, then joins Kaelith to eliminate his growing Cult. Leo uses Seconds Walk, Dumpy's disruption, and Grudgekeeper to execute her within seconds.
• Kaelith: Kaelith alternates between Ru's sovereign, rival, and final ally. Ru breaks from his government and invites him back only as an equal, but later coordinates with him against Leo when the other Great Clan Gods refuse to risk Satoru.
• Moltherak: Moltherak breaks the planned revenge battle against Mauriss, withstands Ru's Radiant Skybreaker, and forces her retreat by revealing Origin-coated teeth. Ru hates the humiliation but recognizes the technical gulf between them.
• Dumpy: Dumpy insults Ru before the Satoru battle and then supplies the decisive counter by disrupting the divine-essence flow needed for Unbreakable Defense. His intervention converts Leo's position behind her into a clean execution opening.
