Miao Ye

Miao Ye leads Thunder Island and descends from the Miao Family, whose members have practiced thunder arts for generations. He survives by weighing old grievances against the dangers of each new conflict.

Biography

The Green Pine Grotto Heaven

Miao Ye first appears defending the Hidden Cloud Orb with two bronze bowls that channel purple lightning. He accuses Situ Chen’s family of having stolen the Miao clan’s fortune and techniques, then clashes with Situ Chen over a golden halberd in the Green Pine Grotto Heaven. Tang Shedu’s sudden attack leaves Miao Ye outmatched and pleading for his life; when a larger battle breaks out, he uses the opening to escape rather than risk being caught between stronger cultivators. (Chapters 592–593, 605 and 607)

A request to recover Duruo

Years later, Miao Ye approaches the Li Family with thanks for Li Xuanfeng’s earlier aid and an apology for his uncle Miao Quan’s dispute with Li Qinghong. He explains that the Duruo Spear once belonged to Thunder Island and recounts how his ancestor Miao Dushan founded its thunder-and-devil lineage. The family wants to recover Dushan’s remains and learn the whereabouts of his lost Heavenly Crimson Pearl; Miao Ye accepts that the Li Family cannot return Duruo without a proper exchange and promises to investigate further before returning with worthy gifts. (Chapters 779–781)

Thunder Island’s leader

Miao Ye later kneels before the Dragon Son of Clear Sea and Still Pond, showing the deference demanded of him. By Chapter 1262 he remains Thunder Island’s leader and a direct Miao descendant, appearing in the Reef Sea on business that the Li Family recognizes as more consequential than a chance dispute over a spirit flower. (Chapters 982 and 1262)

Appearance and personality

Miao Ye is burly, broad-faced, and thick-browed, with unfamiliar robes and two bronze bowls at his waist. He can be fierce when defending his family’s claims, but speaks carefully to potential allies and withdraws when a battle turns beyond his reach. (Chapters 605, 607 and 779–780)

Abilities and cultivation

He cultivates the Thunder Dao and channels purple lightning through his bronze bowls. In the Green Pine Grotto Heaven he combines the bowls with a hand-seal technique to repel Tang Shedu’s halberd for a moment. Miao Ye identifies his family’s tradition as generations of thunder cultivation and attributes its founding to Miao Dushan’s combination of thunder arts and devil techniques. (Chapters 592, 605 and 780)
