Situ Chen

Situ Chen’s pursuit of treasures and confidence in his family’s protection culminated in a feud over the Hidden Cloud Orb and a fatal betrayal in the Eastern Sea.

Biography

The grotto-heaven disputes

As the current Situ-family heir, Situ Chen sought the Hidden Cloud Orb because it was critical to forging his artifact. Miao Ye refused to negotiate: he accused Situ Tang of stealing his family’s fortune on Mount Douxuan and seizing the Flameshadow Crow technique. Situ Chen rejected the accusation as baseless, and their exchange turned into a clash of black-red fire and lightning before both withdrew to avoid leaving themselves open to other cultivators. When they later fought over a golden halberd, Tang Shedu’s sudden attack killed neither rival, but his reputation drove Situ Chen to flee. (Chapters 592–593, 605)

After leaving the grotto heaven, Situ Chen went to Golden Sack Island to recover and cultivate with Flameshadow Crow Qi. His younger brother Situ Mo persuaded him to remain by promising a superior cave and asking him to patrol the surrounding sea. Because he trusted the brother he had grown up with, Situ Chen accepted and left the protective formation; Li Xuanfeng then ambushed him. Situ Chen used his blades, smoke, talismans, and a rare family life-saving barrier to escape, but Li’s arrows exhausted the barrier and wounded him. Li finally overpowered and killed him, explaining that Situ Mo also wanted him dead and that the attack settled Li’s vengeance for Xu San. (Chapters 651–653)

Appearance and personality

Situ Chen had a high-bridged nose and features resembling Situ Mo. Black-and-red flames surrounded him, sometimes forming bird shapes. He fought with confidence and prized opportunities to improve his cultivation, while his trust in Situ Mo left him vulnerable to the invitation that drew him out of the formation. (Chapters 593, 651–652)

Abilities and cultivation

Situ Chen wielded twin blades and black-red fire associated with the Flameshadow Crow Qi. His flames could take avian forms and shatter incoming lightning; he could also use their force for movement. The Flameshadow Crow method belongs to Golden Tang Gate’s legacy; how Situ Chen acquired it is unknown. (Chapters 593, 651)

He was formidable in blade combat but had limited defensive options when Li Xuanfeng attacked from concealment. Situ Chen raised a crimson crystal shield against a strike and later relied on talismans to keep himself aloft; his rare ancient life-saving talisman created a barrier that resisted repeated arrows before its limit was broken. (Chapters 652–653)
