Taylor
Taylor, known as World Gate, is an Arcane Church Beyond Grade A Mage whose specialty is opening summoning and transportation gates. He participates in both attacks on the Black Star Army centered on Planet Lighthouse and Hila. Each operation ends in defeat, but although he is imprisoned after the first, he is ransomed and later escapes the second without being captured again.
Biography
The Evolution Cube and Crimson Dynasty
Taylor joins the six-person Arcane Church strike force at Planet Lighthouse and uses endless waves of summoned creatures, dimensional control, and battlefield teleportation against Han Xiao and his allies. After the operation collapses, he escapes through a secret stargate with Sagman and two others, only for the Crimson Dynasty's pursuit to catch them months later. Taylor and Sagman are subdued while fighting with their main bodies, placed in restraint cabins, and sealed in Spacetime Amber. The Arcane Church cannot redeem every captive immediately, but its later settlement with the dynasty secures Taylor's release along with Sea Spirit Dylan and Mercer; his later activity confirms that the imprisonment is temporary. (Chapters 845–869 and 881)
The Flickering World
Taylor remains an Arcane Church ally after his ransom. He regards Hila's developing Power of Death as a future threat and joins a covert group assembled to eliminate her before she becomes stronger. Remembering the failure at Planet Lighthouse, he urges a quick, error-free strike while Black Star and the dynasty are believed unaware. The plan assigns him to dimensional transport and stargate destruction because of his flexible magic, making him a key logistical attacker rather than the bait who directly challenges Hila. (Chapters 1020 and 1044)
Intelligent Plague and the Association
When the lure fails, Taylor opens the teleportation gate for the forced attack, helps destroy the Black Star stronghold's stargates, and uses Arcane Church forbidden-spell scrolls to restrain and try to kill Hila. Black Star's main body arrives before the attackers can finish, forcing Taylor, Sagman, and Mercer to retreat. Taylor escapes rather than entering a second period of captivity. His latest direct scene is a remote projection aboard the church ship receiving the newly released Tolaen, whom Taylor comforts by referring to his own earlier imprisonment as an ordeal he has overcome. (Chapters 1047, 1049, 1051, 1053–1055, and 1087)
Appearance and personality
The corpus gives no stable description of Taylor's natural species, face, or clothing. His blue skin, purple eyes, and three-fingered hands during the post-Lighthouse escape belong to a magical Aso Clan disguise and should not be treated as his true appearance. Taylor is practical, risk-aware, and loyal to his assigned operations. He can panic under overwhelming pressure, but he also offers sympathetic reassurance to another former captive. (Chapters 852, 856, 863–864, 1053, and 1087)
Abilities and class
Taylor is a Beyond Grade A Mage specializing in summoning. His gates call varied contracted creatures, while his dimensional control can obstruct Void travel, move allies, create escape routes, or open attack portals over vast distances. He knows forbidden spells and can switch from summoning to artillery magic when spacetime stabilization interferes with his preferred style. Like other high-level Mages, he owns a Mage Pagoda, though he deliberately leaves it behind for the Planet Lighthouse mission. (Chapters 846–848, 851, 856, 863–865, and 1047–1049)
Relationships
- Sagman: Sagman is Taylor's closest operational partner in both attacks. They escape, are captured, and are imprisoned together after Planet Lighthouse, then coordinate the stargate strike against Hila. (Chapters 845–881 and 1044–1055)
- Han Xiao: Taylor fights Black Star at Planet Lighthouse, is sealed by him, and later joins another operation against his army. Black Star's arrival forces his second retreat. (Chapters 845–869 and 1044–1055)
- Hila: Taylor treats her ability as a strategic danger and participates in the attempt to isolate, restrain, and kill her. (Chapters 1020 and 1044–1053)
- Mercer: Mercer serves beside Taylor in both operations and later appears with him by projection to welcome Tolaen home. (Chapters 845–859, 1044–1055, and 1087)
- Ninjia: The two Mages cooperate in dimensional control during the Lighthouse battle, and their forbidden teleportation skill supports the retreat. (Chapters 845–856)
Items
Taylor carries a staff, owns a Mage Pagoda, and receives powerful one-use forbidden-spell scrolls from the Arcane Church for the attack on Hila. The pagoda is not present at Planet Lighthouse, and the scrolls are mission equipment rather than permanent named possessions. None has a separate entry in the supplied inventory. (Chapters 846–847 and 1049–1053)
