Sagman

Sagman, titled the Child of Light, is a Beyond Grade A combatant of the Arcane Church. He acts as the leading voice among the Church's experts at Planet Lighthouse and later helps direct its failed operation against Hila.

Biography

The Evolution Cube and Crimson Dynasty

Sagman enters the Battle of Planet Lighthouse as the strongest of the Arcane Church's six deployed Beyond Grade As and takes a coordinating role among them. Alongside Ninjia, he engages Milizaus, then participates in the effort to isolate Han Xiao and seize the Evolution Cube. When the battle turns against the Church, Sagman negotiates and retreats, but Han tricks him out of the Ten Thousand Deity Scepter by sealing it in amber. Sagman, Taylor, Sea Spirit Dylan, and Mercer are eventually captured. The Church pays heavily to ransom its experts, yet the Crimson Dynasty retains Sagman alone as a bargaining chip; his later reappearance shows that he was ultimately released, although the terms are not disclosed. The Flickering World

After returning to Arcane Church service, Sagman endorses action against Hila because he considers the Power of Death a civilization-level danger if allowed to mature unchecked. When an attempt to recruit her fails, he conveys the pope's decision to proceed with force and assigns the first provocation intended to draw her away from support. His argument frames the operation as preventive security, but it also makes him a principal organizer of an attack on someone who has rejected the Church rather than committed the catastrophe he predicts. Intelligent Plague and the Association

Sagman arrives with Taylor through a magical gate to reinforce the ambush on Hila. Even after orders and circumstances favor withdrawal, resentment over his earlier imprisonment and fear of Han Xiao's Spacetime Amber help drive him to keep pressing for Hila's death. Han's arrival causes the attackers to abandon the effort; Sagman escapes with Taylor and Mercer rather than being captured again. At his final direct appearance, he is aboard a ship and contacts the newly captured Tolaen with a sardonic greeting, speaking from the perspective of a former prisoner who has survived the same humiliation. Appearance and personality

The corpus does not provide a stable description of Sagman's ordinary body or clothing. In combat he radiates golden light strongly enough to make his body appear luminous. He is usually controlled, analytical, and willing to speak for his faction, but the Planet Lighthouse defeat leaves a lasting fear of Han Xiao and the sealing power of the amber. That fear mixes with pride and resentment during the attack on Hila, making him more willing to pursue a risky personal objective despite the possibility of another capture. Abilities and class

Sagman is a Beyond Grade A whose combat powers center on light energy, though the supplied corpus does not explicitly name his Super class. He produces intense light pulses and barriers, shapes giant luminous hands, and can turn his body golden with emitted energy. His Light Particle Stream—Infiltration sends penetrating streams through a target, combining burning and explosive damage with disruption and suppression of energy. • Milizaus: Sagman and Ninjia are assigned to occupy Milizaus during the Battle of Planet Lighthouse.
• Hila: Sagman regards Hila's Power of Death as an unacceptable future risk and helps organize the unsuccessful attempt to eliminate her.
• Psyker: Psyker is one of the six Arcane Church-aligned combatants who fight beside Sagman at Planet Lighthouse.

Items

The Arcane Church temporarily entrusts Sagman's group with the Ten Thousand Deity Scepter for the Planet Lighthouse operation. Sagman uses and guards it but does not own it, and Han Xiao takes it from him by sealing it inside amber. No persistent named personal item is established for Sagman. (Chapters 845–861)
