Horisia
Horisia is Astalith's chosen Hero and one of the resistance's strongest battlefield leaders against the usurper Flexom and Demon Queen Apophia. Recovering from a near-fatal defeat, she must reconcile her office with Kai LuForia, a demigod beyond her goddess's authority. Her work in the eastern liberation, Setton's betrayal, and her rematch with Flexom establish her as an active defender rather than a symbolic champion.
Biography
A wounded Hero and an uncontrollable ally
Horisia enters the resistance council injured from an earlier confrontation with Flexom, whose Progenitor Decay had amplified him beyond the level she expected of a mortal usurper. Protective of the exiled royal family and conscious of her status as Rauna's Hero, she answers Kai's refusal to bow by releasing her aura. Kai overwhelms it immediately, forcing her to consult Rauna and revealing that the foreigner's power lies outside Astalith's normal hierarchy. Her apology is therefore both religious and strategic: antagonizing him could destroy the coalition's only answer to forces even Rauna cannot touch. (Chapters 355–357)
The divine meeting changes Horisia's understanding of Kai without making her passive. She learns that he is a demigod and son of the Progenitor, with enough standing to speak casually before Rauna and Leo. Kai erases one of her memories during the encounter and thinks that he will hypnotize her later, making their subsequent trust impossible to treat as wholly untouched by coercive power; the corpus does not, however, show a later moment when he directly rewrites her allegiance. Back in Astalith, she validates his role to the resistance, receives his healing, and resumes work rather than surrendering her Hero responsibilities to him. (Chapters 355–357)
Horisia helps explore the first ancient temple because its power can restore Osiren's ability to challenge the usurpation. She supplies light, detects a trap, and attempts to resist Rauna's divine trials even when the realm suppresses her own holy energy. Her reverence for the temple does not prevent practical judgment: after the trials, she directs Osiren to absorb the recovered orbs and explains occupied territory to the newcomers. These actions establish her as a bridge between sacred tradition and the resistance's immediate military needs, even when Kai trivializes dangers that constrain ordinary champions. (Chapters 360–362)
Liberation of the eastern territories
At the quarry above the second temple, enslaved civilians and the possibility of an internal traitor turn Horisia's anger into a focused division of labor. She orders Gwen to help destroy the guards while Osiren and Kyana locate the temple, then answers Gwen's spectacular attack with her own giant golden avatar. The light burns soldiers and demons across the quarry, after which Horisia remains behind to evacuate prisoners and later defeats incoming reinforcements. Her conduct combines competitive pride with disciplined protection: she wants to demonstrate a Hero's strength, but uses the opening to secure civilians rather than chase glory into the temple. (Chapters 369–373)
Once the eastern objectives are nearly complete, Horisia articulates the campaign's sequence—recover the temples, liberate settlements, consolidate the east, then push west—and identifies Sunspot City as the trade position that can materially strengthen the resistance. She is not the movement's overall strategist, yet her recommendations connect battlefield victories to territorial control. When Kai recovers Rauna's Goblet of Empowerment, its divine power resonates with her; drinking from it temporarily raises her output so sharply that the mountain shakes and Kai must calm the surge. The resistance subsequently presents her recovery as proof that Astalith's legitimate defenders have returned. (Chapters 373, 388)
Betrayal, command, and the western offensive
The attack at the eastern border destroys Horisia's confidence in familiar loyalties. When Setton stabs Osiren and reveals that roughly a third of the assembled resistance are traitors, she immediately protects the survivors and confronts the advisor she once trusted with her life. Setton claims the old monarchy obstructed progress; Horisia rejects advancement built on murder, slavery, and demon-backed control. She cuts through his followers and defeats both his goblet-enhanced and demonic states in direct exchanges, but her refusal to destroy Rauna's sacred relic gives him an opening to knock her unconscious. The defeat exposes how her devotion can be exploited without invalidating the loyalty behind it. (Chapters 394–396)
After Kai heals her, Horisia returns to the wider battle and helps the coalition withstand Flexom's enormous army. She is still outclassed by Kai's principal companions in destructive scale, yet remains one of the resistance's most reliable anchors. In the strategic reassessment, she volunteers to stay behind while Sekmala and Osiren move west, reasoning that the eastern survivors need both leadership and a champion strong enough to defend them. She also supports investigating the third temple despite the possibility of another trap, showing that Setton's betrayal makes her more cautious but does not paralyze the liberation effort. (Chapters 398–400)
Horisia ultimately defines the overthrow through a personal rematch with Flexom. She regards her earlier failure as a danger to the kingdom, uses the goblet before flying alone to the palace, and refuses his threats of sexual enslavement or claims to royal legitimacy. The temporary enhancement fades during their duel, but she adapts instead of collapsing: after losing her weapon, she recalls it through Flexom's back, creates a second blade of chi, and beheads him. Learning that Progenitor Decay caused his abnormal strength relieves her shame without erasing the achievement. Following Osiren's coronation, the latest report leaves Horisia alive and continuing the ordinary work of being Astalith's Hero. (Chapters 408–409, 416)
Appearance and personality
The supplied chapters do not establish Horisia's height, ordinary hair or eye color, clothing, or species. In combat, her eyes and hair glow gold, and divine light makes her resemble a sun. Golden tattoos appear when she sends her soul to Rauna's realm, while her sacred blade can be summoned, dismissed, and recalled. These transformations are her clearest visual markers, not a description of her resting appearance. (Chapters 355, 369, 395–396, 408–409)
Horisia is proud, devout, blunt, and protective of Astalith's people and royal line. Pride makes her challenge Kai, but proof of a higher divine hierarchy produces deference rather than denial. She is competitive enough to answer Gwen's display and hard on herself after defeat, yet consistently turns emotion into service by freeing slaves, evacuating civilians, holding territory, and confronting traitors. Setton's betrayal makes her suspicious without paralyzing her. (Chapters 355–357, 369–373, 394–400, 408–409)
Powers and abilities
Horisia is already Rauna's established Hero when she appears. The corpus shows no advance through the Mana Tiers, Adventurer Ranks, or Divine Ladder. Kai's healing restores existing power, while the goblet's temporary enhancement expires; neither creates a permanent state, so no power-progression table is warranted.
Rauna's divine power and Hero authority
As Rauna's champion, Horisia channels divine energy that burns or purges demons, and her aura can suffocate the resistance council before Kai overpowers it. Golden tattoos accompany the transfer of her soul into Rauna's realm. The connection does not equal a goddess's power: Rauna's temple suppresses Horisia's abilities, and Kai judges her reserve too small to resist its illusion. (Chapters 355, 360, 395–396)
Golden avatar and sacred light
Horisia can fly and form a giant golden avatar around her body. At the quarry, its sunlight-like energy burns numerous soldiers and demons, providing wide-area offense. She also creates mobile light, releases force through the ground, and projects holy slashes or bursts. No fixed cost, range, or duration is stated, but maximum output and borrowed amplification wane during difficult combat. (Chapters 360, 369–370, 395–396, 408–409)
Swordsmanship and close combat
Horisia summons, dismisses, remotely recalls, and coats her sacred sword in divine or condensed chi. She combines precise sword exchanges with punches, kicks, flight, and energy blades. Against Setton she cuts through blood witchcraft and numerous traitors; against Flexom she turns apparent disarmament into a rear attack, then conjures a chi blade. Her reverence is exploitable: Setton throws Rauna's relic into her strike path, knowing she will cancel the blow. (Chapters 395–396, 408–409)
Leadership and tactical judgment
Horisia divides teams by objective, coordinates civilian evacuation, identifies strategic settlements, and volunteers to command territory. Betrayal and failure provoke her, but she regains focus. Her battles reveal firm limits: goblet-enhanced Setton can injure her, Progenitor Decay lets Flexom contend with her, and Kai's companions destroy armies at a scale she cannot match even while enhanced. (Chapters 369–373, 394–400, 408–409)
Relationships
- Kai LuForia: Horisia challenges Kai, then accepts his importance after Rauna explains his lineage. He heals her and enables the campaign, but also erases a memory and contemplates hypnosis, compromising claims that her later trust is fully autonomous. She nevertheless makes military decisions and defeats Flexom herself. (Chapters 355–357, 394–400, 408–409)
- Osiren: Horisia protects the prince, supports his temple trials, and treats restoring his family as central to liberation. She later holds the east while he pursues the remaining temples and throne. (Chapters 357, 360–373, 394–400, 416)
- Sekmala: Sekmala commands the resistance while Horisia serves as its premier champion. Horisia executes the eastern campaign and assumes local command when Sekmala operates in the west. (Chapters 355–357, 360–373, 394–400)
- Setton: Horisia once trusted Setton with her life. She nearly defeats him despite his borrowed powers, but his use of a sacred relic against her conscience prevents her from finishing the fight. (Chapters 357, 394–400)
- Flexom: Flexom's decay-enhanced victory leaves Horisia injured and ashamed. She returns with temporary reinforcement and kills him through endurance and deception after the enhancement fades. (Chapters 357, 388, 408–409)
- Rauna: Horisia receives her Hero power from Rauna. That devotion sustains her anti-demon abilities and legitimacy, but makes Rauna's relic important enough for an enemy to exploit. (Chapters 355, 360–362, 388, 395–396)
Items
- Goblet of Empowerment: Horisia is a user, not its owner. Prayer fills it with wine that temporarily amplifies her power; the boost destabilizes the mountain but fades in combat. Refusing to damage it lets Setton incapacitate her. (Chapters 388, 395–396, 399, 408–409)
- Sacred sword: Her summoned blade channels light and chi, can be dismissed, and returns from a distance. No item page is planned. (Chapters 395–396, 408–409)
