Goblet of Empowerment

The Goblet of Empowerment, usually called the chalice, is a golden, gem-set relic of Goddess Rauna. A successful prayer fills it with divine wine that temporarily multiplies a suitable drinker’s power. It is a communal war resource for Astalith’s resistance, not a permanent personal possession of Kai or any single Hero. (Chapters 381–388)

History

Excavation and first activation

Kai finds the chalice buried at an unexcavated relic site and pulls it from the ground. Karumi identifies its function, but Kai and his already superhuman companions cannot activate it because they exceed the level for which its aid is intended. Rauna appears and directs them to give it to her people. Resistance captain Carlbon successfully prays, receives wine, and shares it with his soldiers, proving that the artifact works for ordinary combatants. (Chapters 381–383)

Delivery to the resistance

After completing the related missions, Kai formally hands the relic to Princess Isia at the resistance headquarters. Setton and Horisia each activate it; Setton’s strength rises roughly tenfold, while Horisia’s already immense power shakes the mountain and briefly becomes difficult to control. This delivery ends Kai’s transport custody and establishes the royal resistance as the relic’s operative custodian. (Chapter 388)

Betrayal and recovery

Setton later carries and drinks from the chalice during his betrayal, then throws it into Horisia’s attack path because he knows she will not destroy a sacred relic. Kai recovers it and returns it to resistance fighters. It continues circulating among their forces, who survive longer but remain outnumbered, and Kyana later tosses it to Osiren so he can empower himself for the decisive fight with Setton. The goblet survives every exchange; no final personal transfer follows. (Chapters 394–398, 408, 411)

Abilities and properties

A user channels power into the goblet and prays to Rauna; if accepted, divine wine fills it. Drinking creates a temporary, potentially tenfold physical and magical increase, stacks with Horisia’s Hero power, and can bring a mortal near a much stronger opponent. The effect expires and does not guarantee victory. It fails for Kai and his core companions because they are already too powerful, and Horisia’s example shows that a large boost can strain control. The goblet itself remains destructible enough that she aborts a sword stroke rather than risk shattering it. (Chapters 381, 383, 388, 395–396)
