Flexom

Flexom is a former Solar Plex who usurps Astalith's throne with Demon Queen Apophia and rules through corrupt officials, soldiers, and demonic allies. Progenitor Decay makes him powerful enough to defeat the continent's hero until Kai LuForia's intervention enables a rematch.

Biography

Usurpation and defeat by the restored hero

Flexom overthrows the king and queen shortly before Kai reaches Astalith, drives the surviving royal family into hiding, and works with demons to consolidate the continent. His guards extort towns while his forces and Apophia's demons terrorize civilians. Sekmala preserves Osiren and Isia as claimants, but Horisia has already lost to Flexom because Progenitor Decay unexpectedly amplified him. When Kai visits the palace to measure the threat, he shatters Flexom's khopesh with his skin, breaks his limbs, and leaves him alive, proving that the usurper's supernatural advantage does not extend to a demigod. (Chapters 350–359)

Flexom's alliance continues attacking resistance positions until Horisia returns to the throne room for a decisive rematch. He expects Decay and witchcraft to exhaust her temporary divine enhancement, and after a prolonged exchange he knocks away her sword and brings her to her knees. Horisia recalls the blade behind him, drives it through his back, and decapitates him with condensed chi before he can finish her. Kai then absorbs the Decay from Flexom's corpse. His death removes the false king, while the destruction caused by his regime is later repaired and Osiren succeeds to the restored throne. (Chapters 363–415)

Appearance and personality

Flexom is no taller than about five feet five inches, much shorter than Kai expected from his reputation. The narrative does not specify his hair, eyes, build, or royal clothing. (Chapter 358)

He is arrogant, cruel, and theatrical. Flexom kills a servant with the shockwave from drawing his weapon, threatens to publicly abuse Horisia, and treats Decay-derived strength as proof of entitlement to rule. (Chapters 358 and 408–409)

Powers and abilities

Flexom was already one of Astalith's ten Solar Plexes before Progenitor Decay greatly increased his power. He combines fast, heavy khopesh combat with shadow or demonic energy, black mist, witchcraft blasts, and Decay-enhanced durability. He can contend with an empowered Horisia long enough for her borrowed energy to fade, but Kai overwhelms him instantly and Horisia's recalled blade bypasses his guard. The Decay persists after ordinary death until Kai absorbs it. (Chapters 358–359 and 408–409)
