Sekmala
Sekmala is a former royal general who saves Astalith's last two heirs after Flexom's coup and organizes the resistance around them. Her military planning preserves the rebellion through betrayal and invasion, and Osiren later rewards her with land, political authority, and appointment as his personal adviser.
Biography
Building and preserving the resistance
When Flexom usurps the throne, Sekmala flees with trusted soldiers, rescues Osiren and Isia, and has loyal witches and wizards carve a concealed base into a remote mountain. She chooses the barren eastern region because it sees little traffic and offers access to two of Rauna's buried temples. Sekmala develops a staged plan to locate those temples, consolidate the east, and strike into the more populous west. Although Kai LuForia mocks the resistance's lack of firepower, he judges the structure sound and adds himself and his companions to it. (Chapters 357–360)
Sekmala coordinates scouting, exploration, and later liberation teams while keeping the surviving leaders focused despite Kai's disruptive behavior. The revelation that Setton is a spy devastates both her plans and trust network: he knows resistance positions, contributes to attacks on the base and Sunspot, and may have corrupted months of intelligence. Sekmala nevertheless refuses paralysis. She rallies the survivors, limits troop deployments when their numbers are too low, and returns to the border with Kai's reinforcements, allowing the rebellion to survive its worst internal failure. (Chapters 361–403)
After Flexom, Apophia, and Setton are killed, Kai repairs the destruction and Osiren takes the throne. The new king appoints Sekmala as his personal adviser, grants her land, and gives her substantial political power; resistance survivors also receive positions in the restored state. The promotion recognizes that her decisions preserved both royal heirs and the organization capable of returning them to power. (Chapters 411–415)
Appearance and personality
Sekmala is an adult woman and former general, but the narrative does not specify her species, hair, eyes, height, build, uniform, or armor. (Chapter 357)
She is strategic, disciplined, pragmatic, and resilient. Sekmala can restrain an angry prince, accept useful criticism, and rapidly reorganize after catastrophic betrayal. She also expects clear reporting and becomes frustrated when Kai vanishes during planning. (Chapters 357–389 and 397–402)
Powers and abilities
Sekmala is described as a powerful warrior honed by many battles. She fights during the Sunspot defense and uses the chalice's empowerment to survive vastly superior numbers, but the narrative does not name her weapon, combat style, tier, chi techniques, or individual spells. Her best-demonstrated abilities are military: choosing defensible terrain, reading maps, coordinating scouts and teams, and allocating scarce troops under pressure. Even with those skills, she cannot match the mass destruction caused by Kai's companions and remains vulnerable to espionage from inside her command. (Chapters 357–360 and 397–399)
