Gao Feng is the veteran captain of the Fire Hammer squad who leads Luo Feng through his first wilderness hunts. A powerful close-range fighter and an experienced field commander, he balances profitable monster hunting with responsibility for the lives and livelihoods of his squad.

Biography

Forging a wilderness team

When Luo Feng joins the Fire Hammer squad, Gao Feng has already spent years in the wilderness and commands an established group of older fighters. He welcomes the rookie without indulging him, directing Luo Feng to learn from Wei Tie and Wei Qing, then watching closely enough to recognize the promise in Luo Feng's movement technique. In the field he chooses routes around threats the squad cannot safely control, selects defensible observation points, sets rest schedules, and assigns each member a precise role before an attack. His objective is not simply to kill the strongest available monster, but to keep a professional hunting unit alive while making its risks worthwhile. (Chapters 40–48)

That responsibility becomes personal when the Tiger Fang squad ambushes the team. A shot meant for Gao Feng instead maims Zhang Ke, and an attracted monster horde nearly destroys the entire squad before Luo Feng reveals his spirit-reader power to save them. Gao Feng first orders emergency treatment, then accepts Luo Feng's wish to keep that power secret and promises the squad's cooperation. Back at the resupplying base, he confronts the Tiger Fang captain despite lacking evidence strong enough for official action, but does not let anger erase his obligations: he allocates most of the twin-tailed ocelot proceeds to the disabled Zhang Ke, reduces his own share, and credits each member according to contribution. The risks of #003 City

With Luo Feng's strength raising the squad's prospects, Gao Feng leads the reduced team into the far more dangerous #003 City. He provides the experience that converts Luo Feng's raw power into sustainable hunting: maintaining formation, controlling noise, identifying monster ranks, guarding the squad's rear, and timing attacks and withdrawals. During the fight against a twin-headed black-striped snake, Gao Feng works alongside unfamiliar Indian fighters and follows Luo Feng's improvised plan, driving his hammer at one head while Luo Feng adds spiritual force to the strike. The combined blow helps create an opening against the monster and confirms Gao Feng's role as both frontline force and practical coordinator. (Chapters 67–74)

The same expedition brings the Fire Hammer and Tiger Fang squads face to face again. Gao Feng recognizes that their enemies are likely planning another attack and accepts Luo Feng's proposal to pursue them alone, but he refuses to expose the rest of the team merely to satisfy their anger: he orders Chen Gu to stand down, sends the squad back toward the resupplying base, and warns Luo Feng not to mistake superior escape ability for invulnerability. This decision transfers the revenge mission to the one member capable of surviving it while removing the others from an escalating conflict, leaving Gao Feng responsible for getting his people and their hard-won materials home. Loyalty under an astronomical bounty

After the Tiger Fang captain and his companions die, an enormous bounty places every known spirit reader under suspicion. Gao Feng immediately calls Luo Feng to warn him that disclosure of his identity could make him a target and says he will ensure the other squad members keep the secret. Yet the reward also unsettles Gao Feng himself: when Luo Feng returns, Gao Feng studies his demeanor for signs of guilt and privately admits that even he has been thrown off by the sum before choosing to stop pursuing the thought. The episode does not establish that he intended to betray Luo Feng; it instead shows the strain that extraordinary money places on trust between fighters whose survival depends on one another. Gao Feng subsequently resumes the squad's ordinary fellowship rather than acting on that temptation. His conduct restores the working relationship without erasing the moment of doubt, and the squad returns to the wilderness with Gao Feng and Luo Feng serving as its principal combat force. The Fire Hammer squad's last hunt

During the squad's final expedition, Gao Feng continues to manage both danger and morale as the veterans begin considering retirement. He joins Luo Feng against commander-level monsters, persuades him not to exhaust himself through relentless solo training, and responds to a distress signal from another Dojo of Limits team because he regards aiding fellow members as an obligation. When headquarters abruptly removes Luo Feng from the squad for elite training, Gao Feng and the others understand that their long-standing formation can no longer continue. (Chapters 104–107)

At the final settlement, Gao Feng accepts Luo Feng's proposal to divide the last proceeds equally even though the two of them had earned the largest combat shares. The choice gives the retiring members more support and lets the squad end as a brotherhood rather than as a final accounting dispute. After drinking together through the night, the Fire Hammer squad officially disbands: Chen Gu and the Wei brothers retire, Luo Feng leaves for headquarters, and Gao Feng chooses to continue his fighter career with another squad. Appearance and personality

Gao Feng is a little over 180 centimeters tall and exceptionally solidly built, with a body compared to steel bars and hard, rocklike facial muscles. He protects Luo Feng's spirit-reader secret, relies on his exceptional abilities, briefly doubts him under the pressure of the bounty, and ultimately parts from him as a trusted comrade when headquarters recruits Luo Feng.
• Chen Gu: Chen Gu is one of Gao Feng's long-serving squadmates and his principal ranged fighter. Gao Feng relies on his firepower but firmly controls when he may shoot, and later prevents him from joining Luo Feng's dangerous pursuit of the Tiger Fang squad.
• Wei Tie and Wei Qing: The brothers serve under Gao Feng through the squad's major wilderness hunts. He positions them in the team's formation, shares proceeds according to their support, and remains with them until they choose retirement.
