Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial

Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial is the Zhou clan's Exalted Celestial ancestor and the father of Zhou Huo, Zhou Tong, and Zhou Wulian. His immense standing gives Thunder Punishment City prestige and protection, yet his story also establishes that an Exalted Celestial is not necessarily the highest authority in the cosmos. He favors his descendants, repeatedly tries to preserve their supremacy, and turns their deaths into a personal vendetta against Qin Yu, but he remains bound by the commands of Floating Feathers Exalted Celestial and their master, Lin Meng.

Biography

Patron of the Zhou clan

The Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial first matters as the hidden advantage behind Thunder Punishment City. The Zhou clan controls the Divine Realm's heavenly tribulations, and his status makes Zhou Xian the groom candidate whom outsiders consider most strongly supported. When Zhou Xian reaches the Mountain Sea Palace, his ancestor immediately summons him while the other candidates struggle even to obtain an audience. He bestows a black scepter recognized as a Grandmist Spiritual Treasure, openly using family patronage to improve Zhou Xian's prospects of marrying Jiang Li. (Chapters 557–577)

His help is deliberate rather than merely ceremonial. He tells Zhou Xian to remain near the Mountain Sea Palace because Floating Feathers and Unfettered are also nearby, giving his descendant information that might lead to another Exalted Celestial's favor. At the same time, his language reveals the hierarchy governing him: Floating Feathers is his “Eldest Martial Brother,” while Unfettered is his junior. The episode therefore establishes both sides of his position—overwhelming authority in the eyes of Godkings and calculated deference toward the one Exalted Celestial he knows can restrain him. From ancestral safeguard to personal enemy

After Qin Yu takes Jiang Li away and defeats attacks from the Divine Families, the Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial returns to find his clan publicly humiliated. He questions his sons about Qin Yu's unusual teleportation, time acceleration, and ability to break six Sage Emperors' Spatial Freezing. Although Floating Feathers has warned against pointless investigation, he decides that Thunder Punishment City's dignity must be defended. He authorizes his descendants to attack and promises that, if they fail, he himself can kill Qin Yu—subject to restrictions surrounding the coming Exalted Celestial Mountain. (Chapters 608–622)

That promise emboldens Zhou Huo's faction, but it does not make their campaign safe. When the Zhou Godkings attack Fog City, the Exalted Celestial first uses Single Aura Eight Elements from afar, expecting to erase the city and break Qin Yu's spatial restraint. The strike destroys Fog City but fails to free his sons. He then uses the Origin Sin Sword to cut through the restraint, yet Qin Yu kills Zhou Tong and Zhou Wulian before Zhou Huo escapes. The intervention demonstrates extraordinary reach and force, while its failure turns a dispute over clan prestige into grief centered on his favored son. (Chapters 633–635)

Vengeance constrained by higher authority

The deaths of Zhou Tong and Zhou Wulian nearly drive him to attack again, but the descent of the Exalted Celestial Mountain activates rules imposed by Lin Meng and enforced by Floating Feathers. Floating Feathers threatens to kill him on their master's behalf if he violates the restriction limiting him to one intervention during the contest. He submits, admits privately that his rank was bestowed rather than self-attained, and recognizes that Lin Meng could destroy him effortlessly. His fear does not erase his hatred; it forces him to postpone revenge and reserve his permitted intervention for the bargain already made with Jiang Fan. (Chapters 635–642)

During the struggle for the All People Seal, he uses that one intervention to stop the competing Godkings and deliver the seal to Jiang Fan. Qin Yu interrupts with New Cosmos Time Stop, kills Zhou Huo before the Exalted Celestial can break the technique, and nearly kills Zhou Xian as well. The Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial answers with Time Reversal and the Origin Sin Sword, gravely injuring Qin Yu's soul, but incorrectly concludes that the wound is fatal. When Floating Feathers orders him away because his allotted attack has been spent, he obeys instead of pursuing Qin Yu. (Chapters 663–669)

Once Chehou Yuan becomes the new Exalted Celestial, he believes the restriction has ended and rushes to avenge three sons and two grandsons. Floating Feathers first diverts him to the White Cloud Palace to report to Lin Meng, and he suppresses his rage until that audience ends. He then reaches Purple Mystic Mansion, threatens its inhabitants, and attempts to kill Hei Yu with the Origin Sin Sword. Qin Yu, whose New Cosmos is complete, catches and shatters the sword. Floating Feathers arrives, addresses Qin Yu as Martial Uncle, and returns the stunned aggressor to Lin Meng for judgment. (Chapters 677–680)

Appearance and personality

He is depicted as a silver-haired old man with a red mark between his brows; the mark brightens or trembles when he mobilizes power or anger. He usually carries himself with the composure expected of an Exalted Celestial, but that composure is conditional. Clan humiliation makes him cold and imperious, the death of Zhou Wulian makes him nearly irrational, and accumulated losses lead him to threaten uninvolved inhabitants of Purple Mystic Mansion. His affection is also unequal: he admits that Zhou Tong's death chiefly offended his dignity, whereas the death of his favored son Zhou Wulian creates genuine grief. (Chapters 622–636, 680)

Pride and fear coexist in him. Before Godkings he treats resistance as inconceivable, but before Floating Feathers he bows, retracts his plans, and follows commands even while resenting them. Before Lin Meng he is more restrained still, knowing that his master granted his laws and can take everything away. This contrast makes his vengeance neither fearless nor principled: he pursues Qin Yu whenever the hierarchy appears to permit it and stops whenever disobedience would expose him to punishment from a power above his own. Abilities and cultivation

Exalted Celestial authority

His Exalted Celestial rank includes complete spatial and temporal law knowledge bestowed by Lin Meng. He can transmit his voice across great distances, immobilize or overwhelm Godkings, use Time Reversal, and project attacks from Thunder Punishment City to Fog City. Single Aura Eight Elements reproduces by himself a combined Origin Energy attack normally associated with all eight Sage Emperors, while the pressure of his presence can force nearly twenty Godkings and more than a thousand other people to kneel. His strongest demonstrated weapon is the Origin Sin Sword, an Exalted Celestial's Spiritual Treasure bestowed by Lin Meng. Its sword energy cuts through Qin Yu's spatial restraint after Single Aura Eight Elements fails, and a later strike nearly destroys Qin Yu's soul even though Qin Yu escapes through his New Cosmos. He also uses Time Reversal to undo the immediate course of Qin Yu's attack on Zhou Xian, showing direct control over temporal law rather than only enhanced speed or time acceleration. Demonstrated limits

His power remains tied to Lin Meng's cosmos and hierarchy. Floating Feathers can disperse his Single Aura Eight Elements, enforce Lin Meng's restrictions, and credibly threaten his life. Qin Yu's New Cosmos techniques lie outside the Divine Realm's ordinary spatial and temporal control: its Time Stop delays him long enough for Zhou Huo to die, and its spatial power survives attacks he expected to be decisive. After the New Cosmos is completed, Qin Yu withstands the Origin Sin Sword barehanded and destroys it, conclusively overturning the Exalted Celestial's assumption of superiority. • Zhou Huo: His eldest son and Thunder Punishment City's ruler. He supports Zhou Huo's campaigns, but his restrictions prevent him from rescuing Zhou Huo from Qin Yu.
