Zhou Xian

Zhou Xian is the first grandson of the Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial, son of Zhou Huo, and Qin Yu's principal rival for Jiang Li. His inherited status repeatedly protects and advances him, but his contempt for weaker lives remains unchanged from their first meeting to his execution.

Biography

Guishui City and the “ant”

Zhou Xian enters the Mortal Realm in white robes to enforce Jiang Fan's written order recalling Jiang Li. He addresses her affectionately as his younger cousin and presents himself as the reasonable messenger, yet immediately treats Qin Yu's familiarity with her as an offense against rank. After Jiang Li conceals their romance and departs, Zhou Xian tells Qin Yu that a mortal is an ant incapable of understanding his existence. Jealousy, rather than duty alone, drives his decision to display what he calls a negligible fraction of his power. (Chapter 221)

His demonstration begins with an energy ripple from an ordinary branch that cuts hundreds of residents in half. When Qin Yu resists, Zhou Xian escalates to “Apocalypse,” shattering the entire space occupied by Guishui City and killing its population while deliberately shielding Qin Yu so Jiang Li cannot accuse him of breaking his promise. He answers Qin Yu's warning of heavenly punishment by claiming superior knowledge of Heaven. Jiang Lan dismisses him after the massacre, but the event becomes the moral debt that defines Zhou Xian's eventual death. (Chapters 222–223)

When Jiang Fan opens the public groom search, Zhou Xian enters with advantages no other candidate can reproduce: a Sage Emperor father, a personally indulgent Exalted Celestial grandfather, and longstanding political ties among the judging Godkings. He obtains a Grandmist Spiritual Treasure scepter directly from the Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial and initially assumes that gift guarantees the first candidate position. Qin Yu's unprecedented ascent of the Heaven Connecting Flight of Steps and first-rate Gauze Feather Blade defeat that expectation, exposing how quickly Zhou Xian's polished courtesy turns into procedural objection. (Chapters 555–583)

For the second trial, Zhou Xian presents the Nine Phoenix Crown, assembled by eighty-one craftsmen from thousands of pearls and gems gathered across many lower-realm cosmic spaces. Qin Yu's Purple Mystic Mansion is the more astonishing technical work, but Zhou Xian wins the Godking vote six to five after his father secures support among allied rulers. Zhou Xian privately taunts Qin Yu that those relationships will decide the next vote as well, making clear that he understands court influence—not Jiang Li's preference—as his decisive resource. (Chapters 591–595)

That strategy reaches its limit once Qin Yu crafts a first-rate Grandmist Spiritual Treasure and becomes the new Craftsman God. Zhou Xian abandons the third trial rather than waste a second-rate treasure in a contest he cannot win. Even though Qin Yu holds two candidate positions and offers a first-rate betrothal gift, Jiang Fan selects Zhou Xian because Thunder Punishment City has promised something more valuable to him: Exalted Celestial support in obtaining the final portion of the Living World Seal. Zhou Xian calls the absent Jiang Li his wife, only for Qin Yu to take her away and smash him through the palace wall. (Chapters 598–605, 666)

Humiliation, advancement, and execution

Zhou Xian subsequently accompanies his clan's Godkings in the attempt to reclaim Jiang Li, but he is the weakest-status participant among the assembled powers. He cannot accept that the former mortal now defeats Godkings, and other rulers openly mock his attempt to interrupt their negotiations. After learning that even the combined Sage Emperors cannot overcome Qin Yu, resentment gives way to powerlessness. He withdraws into seclusion with the vow not to emerge until he becomes a Godking, finally recognizing that lineage and court votes cannot close the widening personal gap. (Chapters 611–621)

He eventually completes the spatial laws and emerges as a Godking while the Exalted Celestial Mountain contest is underway. His grandfather's affection remains a decisive shield: the Exalted Celestial had given his first grandson a protective talisman at birth and later uses Time Reversal to save him when Qin Yu kills Zhou Huo and turns the spear on Zhou Xian. The Thunder Origin Spiritual Pearl then passes from Zhou Huo's remains to the clan's only surviving Godking, making Zhou Xian the new Northwest Sage Emperor without curing his fixation on revenge. (Chapters 663–667)

Believing that the Thunder Punishment Exalted Celestial has killed Qin Yu, Zhou Xian urges the remaining Godkings to attack Fog City and seize the All People Seal. The assault is a trap: Qin Yu draws them into his New Cosmos, where their familiar spatial and temporal laws have no authority. Even after being immobilized and beaten, Zhou Xian insists that his divinely conferred status makes him untouchable and still defends the destruction of Guishui City. Qin Yu answers with the “heavenly punishment” Zhou Xian once mocked, using the New Cosmos's multicolored lightning to reduce him to dust in Chapter 670. (Chapters 668–670)

Appearance and personality

Zhou Xian first appears as a handsome white-robed young man whose mild smile and courteous speech conceal immediate contempt. He is socially polished before elders and judges, quick to adopt humility when Jiang Lan appears, and skilled at presenting inherited advantages as personal merit. Toward those he considers weak, however, the pose disappears: mortals are ants, rival candidates deserve condescension, and Jiang Li's own choice is secondary to status and victory.

His development increases power without producing self-reflection. Defeat first makes him resentful, then drives disciplined seclusion and a genuine breakthrough to Godking, but he interprets that achievement through the same entitlement that shaped Guishui City. Even at Qin Yu's mercy, he treats mass killing and divine-family privilege as self-justifying. This moral stasis is why his final punishment closes the earliest unresolved conflict rather than merely eliminating a political rival. (Chapters 221–223, 594–595, 621, 663–670)

Abilities and cultivation

Lower-realm spatial destruction

Long before reaching Godking, Zhou Xian can cross realms, survive spatial turbulence, conceal supernatural movement from mortal bystanders, and project an energy ripple powerful enough to bisect hundreds of people. His “Apocalypse” attack shatters the area of space containing an entire mortal city. These feats demonstrate overwhelming lower-realm power, not unrestricted cosmic authority: Jiang Lan can order him away, and the same techniques that make Qin Yu helpless in Chapter 222 cease to decide their contests once Qin Yu reaches Divine Realm power. (Chapters 221–223)

Thunder Punishment treasures and protection

As a High Level Heavenly Deity, Zhou Xian uses spatial control and a second-rate Grandmist Spiritual Treasure lightning whip, but Qin Yu's upgraded Waning Snow breaks the whip and strikes him down. A later revelation explains his extraordinary survivability: his grandfather placed a talisman on him at birth capable of protecting against a first-rate Grandmist Spiritual Treasure. Exalted Celestial patronage also supplies his groom-search scepter and saves him through Time Reversal, but these are external protections rather than temporal techniques Zhou Xian himself demonstrates. (Chapters 577–583, 604, 663, 667)

Godking and Northwest Sage Emperor

Seclusion eventually advances Zhou Xian from High Level Heavenly Deity to Godking, meaning he completes the Divine Realm's spatial laws. After Zhou Huo's death, the Thunder Origin Spiritual Pearl recognizes him as the clan's remaining Godking and confers the Northwest Sage Emperor position with its thunder-and-lightning authority. The progression has a categorical boundary: in Qin Yu's New Cosmos, Divine Realm spatial and temporal laws do not function, teleportation fails, and even the Thunder Origin Spiritual Pearl cannot command the new world's lightning. Qin Yu therefore kills him without meaningful resistance. (Chapters 621, 663–670)

Relationships

  • Qin Yu: Romantic, political, and eventually mortal rival. Zhou Xian first regards him as an ant; Qin Yu's rise progressively strips away every advantage behind that contempt.
  • Zhou Huo: Father, Sage Emperor, and principal political patron during the groom search. Zhou Huo mobilizes Godking votes, treasure crafters, and clan resources for his son's candidacy.
  • Jiang Li: Maternal cousin and unwilling intended bride. Zhou Xian pursues her as both a desired woman and a status-bearing match, but never secures her consent or a marriage.

Items

  • Nine Phoenix Crown: Zhou Xian's second-round groom-search gift, made from thousands of cross-cosmos materials by a large team of craftsmen. Its labor and political presentation win him one candidate position, but Jiang Li never accepts him as her husband.
