Jiang Lan is a Godking of Floating Snow City who becomes Qin Yu's mentor, Jiang Li's protector, and eventually a founding elder of Purple Mystic Mansion. His defining choice is to place the couple's freedom above the authority and advantage of his own clan.

Biography

Hidden patron and the three-layer trial

Jiang Lan first reveals his power around Qin Yu rather than through a formal introduction. When loose immortals breach the Stellar Tower's formation, he appears without warning, removes four intruders with a sweep of his sleeve, and promises to strengthen the defenses. After Zhou Xian destroys Guishui City, Jiang Lan restrains the confrontation and speaks to Qin Yu about the ruthless order that powerful people call “Heaven,” establishing himself as both protector and demanding guide rather than a rescuer who will solve every obstacle. (Chapters 220–223)

In the Ni Yang Realm, Jiang Lan gives Qin Yu the small green pagoda later called Jiang Lan's Realm. Its three immense layers accelerate time by ten, one hundred, and one thousand times, but Qin Yu must acquire enough power to open them in succession. Jiang Lan makes access to Jiang Li conditional on opening all three layers, while promising that no one will be allowed to force her into marriage if Qin Yu continues forward. The gift therefore combines protection, cultivation, and a deliberately severe measure of Qin Yu's resolve. (Chapters 302–303)

Reunion and the marriage struggle

Each opened layer carries an imprint through which Jiang Lan can observe Qin Yu's progress and leave guidance. At the second layer he recognizes the golden soul pellet associated with Zuo Qiumei, whose death still shapes his judgment. When the third layer opens, Jiang Lan is simultaneously arguing with his brother Jiang Fan against arranging Jiang Li's marriage without her consent. Recalling that he failed to die beside Zuo Qiumei, he resolves not to repeat that failure by abandoning his niece to clan policy. (Chapters 443–555)

Jiang Lan then reunites with Qin Yu in person and explains that he concealed Qin Yu's refinement of the Bewitching God Temple from other Godkings. He identifies the Meteoric Tear as one of Zuo Qiumei's two Soul Tears and says that it chose Qin Yu, which is why he did not seize it. After bringing Qin Yu and Jiang Li together, he lays out the alternatives of elopement or competing in the public groom search. He favors the open contest and points to artifact crafting as the reputation and leverage Qin Yu still lacks. (Chapters 556–570)

During the groom search, Jiang Lan repeatedly argues Qin Yu's case inside the Jiang clan rather than merely coaching him from outside. He explains that the paired Soul Tears can make Jiang Li the new Godking of Life and that Qin Yu is willing to surrender his own tear for her. When Jiang Fan nevertheless selects Zhou Xian and then attacks Qin Yu in the Sage Emperor Palace, Jiang Lan blocks his brother's strike and leaves with the rejected suitor. He subsequently agrees to stand as Jiang Li's guardian at her wedding, making his separation from Floating Snow City's ruling interest explicit. (Chapters 602–608)

Elder and defender of Purple Mystic Mansion

Jiang Lan witnesses Jiang Li's advancement to Godking and immediately turns to the security of the new household. He questions Qin Yu's strategy, cautions him against attacking Thunder Punishment City without certainty, and helps establish Fog City and Purple Mystic Mansion after the couple's break with Floating Snow City. As a resident elder, he supplies both a recognized Godking's deterrence and long experience with the alliances, rivalries, and inherited treasures that govern the eight sacred lands. (Chapters 616–632)

At Exalted Celestial Mountain, Jiang Lan proves that his temporal law is an offensive discipline as well as the principle behind his training realm. While carrying the Back Earth Seal, he applies different degrees of Time Acceleration to six converging attacks so that they arrive separately, freezes them with Time Stop, and cuts them apart with the Gauze Feather Blade. Combined Origin Energy attacks from the Sage Emperors eventually break his stopped time and wound him, forcing Qin Yu to extract him from the field. (Chapters 657–661)

After recovering, Jiang Lan accepts a negotiated limit: he will stop contesting the All People Seal if the Sage Emperors leave Fog City alone. The decision is consistent with his wider role. He is proud enough to meet several rulers in battle, but his objective is the safety of the household rather than possession of an Exalted Celestial token at any cost. He survives the final struggle and remains with Qin Yu and Jiang Li, his allegiance to Purple Mystic Mansion no longer provisional. (Chapters 661–680)

Appearance and personality

Jiang Lan usually presents himself as a calm, approachable elder, but that manner conceals the authority of an elite Godking. He is patient enough to guide Qin Yu across realms and millennia, strategically cautious when the younger man is angry, and unusually attentive to individual consent within a clan governed by political marriage. His lingering grief for Zuo Qiumei explains both his tenderness toward Jiang Li and the severity of his break with Jiang Fan.

Pride remains part of his character rather than disappearing beneath his kindness. He refuses assistance while first confronting the Sage Emperors and only yields once their combined attacks place him near death. Yet he can subordinate that pride to a practical settlement when Fog City's safety is at stake, distinguishing his defiance from reckless self-display. (Chapters 555–556, 616, 661)

Abilities and cultivation

Spatial mastery and concealment

As a Godking, Jiang Lan has complete command of the Divine Realm's spatial laws. He teleports himself and others, removes enemies before they can resist, and leaves remote imprints inside a spatial treasure. His concealment is sophisticated enough to obscure Qin Yu's refinement of the Bewitching God Temple from other Godkings. These feats do not make him omniscient: the independent laws of Qin Yu's New Cosmos initially lie outside his experience, and hostile Godkings can still engage him once he acts openly. (Chapters 220, 302–303, 448, 556, 606)

Temporal law and Jiang Lan's Realm

Jiang Lan understands both Time Acceleration and Time Stop. The three layers of Jiang Lan's Realm maintain tenfold, hundredfold, and thousandfold time acceleration while drawing energy from outside, allowing protégés to cultivate for vast subjective periods. In battle, he varies acceleration across separate attacks to desynchronize them, then uses Time Stop to isolate and destroy them. Time Stop is not absolute: the Sage Emperors' combined Origin Energy can shatter it, and repeated attacks overwhelm even his elite defense. (Chapters 302–303, 448, 555, 661)

Godking combat and judgment

Jiang Lan combines temporal control with the first-rate Grandmist Spiritual Treasure Gauze Feather Blade, using its edge to destroy staggered Origin Energy attacks. His performance against multiple Sage Emperors demonstrates top-tier restraint and survivability, but also a clear attritional limit: once Time Stop breaks, their repeated combined blows injure him badly enough to require rescue and recovery medicine. His most durable strength is therefore the union of formidable technique with the judgment to advise, withdraw, or negotiate when protecting others matters more than winning a contest. Relationships

  • Qin Yu: Protégé and son-like figure. Jiang Lan tests his resolve, shields his development from stronger powers, and ultimately joins the household Qin Yu builds.
  • Jiang Li: Beloved niece and ward. His refusal to accept a marriage imposed without her consent drives his break with Floating Snow City's ruler.
  • Jiang Fan: Elder brother and former sovereign. Their disagreement over Jiang Li changes from private argument to open opposition when Jiang Lan blocks Jiang Fan's attack on Qin Yu.
  • Yi Feng: Fellow Godking and ally at Purple Mystic Mansion, sharing its defense and offering counsel within Qin Yu's new power.
