Lin Guoguo

Lin Guoguo, titled the Psychic Tide, is a psychokinetic Adept and one of Zeus’ Amazons. She works at Zeus’ Jewelry Store before becoming the psychic eyes, communications specialist, and concealment expert aboard Zeus-1 and on Star Division missions. Her loyalty to Lan Jue grows from his earlier rescue of her from the Northern Conclave, although the supplied corpus does not narrate the circumstances of that rescue in detail. Among the Amazons, Lin—not Mika, Ke’er, or Su Xiaosu—is responsible for psychic sensing, mind work, masking, and memory removal.

Biography

A rescued psychic behind the jewelry counter

Lin is introduced as an attendant at Zeus’ Jewelry Store, teasing Lan Jue about leaving her and Mika to manage the shop in his absence before immediately turning to business. The contrast defines her home role: she can be sweet, playful, and openly dependent on the “boss,” but she is also attentive to operations and ready when he calls the Amazons into action. She considers the attendants a family of sisters rather than interchangeable subordinates. When Mika’s temper rises, Lin can place herself between Mika and another person and use a gentle psychic presence to de-escalate the confrontation. (Chapters 33–63)

During the Shattered Starfields mission, Lin moves from shop work into specialist service. Wearing a psionic amplifier, she projects her consciousness into enemy craft and controls three gunboats at once; she explains through performance that larger battleships present a much harder target. She also supports Mika when the Stygian Succubus’s inherited darkness threatens to overwhelm her. Lin does not replace Mika’s destructive power, Ke’er’s weapons role, or Xiuxiu’s piloting. Sparring with Hua Li gives that specialization its public title: Lin Guoguo, Discipline psychokinesis, the Psychic Tide. Her golden psychic projection marks her as a priority threat even among the four Amazons. Her place beside Lan Jue is more personal than a hired assignment. He later says that he took both Lin and Ke’er from the Northern Conclave, and Lin tells him that his life affects all four women because he has protected them as they protect him. As Star Division turns toward alien reconnaissance, Lin’s psychic abilities become an intelligence system. During anti-pirate operations she occupies the captain’s chair, uses a helmet to extend her senses through Zeus-1, maintains communications, and issues weapon commands. The crew’s responsibilities remain distinct: Su Xiaosu or another assigned pilot flies the ship, Mika handles master controls, and Ke’er and Xiuxiu operate weapon systems when present. Lin interprets minds and the surrounding battlespace so those specialists can act on better information. (Chapters 490–596)

Her most important breakthrough comes while studying alien consciousness. Lan Jue orders Su Xiaosu to evade while Lin channels pale-gold psychic power through the ship and probes a pursuing creature. An hour of contact drains her, but she repeatedly meditates, resumes observation, and learns to reproduce the psionic pulses of several weaker alien types. She then broadcasts similar signals so Zeus-1 appears compatible with the mental traffic around it. The work turns a rare personal Discipline into a reusable reconnaissance method, though it remains dependent on Lin’s attention and reserves. (Chapters 618–621)

Lin continues despite exhaustion because every successful imitation expands the crew’s knowledge and makes the next approach safer. Over a twenty-four-hour cycle she alternates recovery with psychic expenditure, remaining connected to the amplifier whenever alien presence threatens to expose them. This is neither ordinary electronic cloaking nor Su Xiaosu’s piloting skill. Mimicking the alien mind

On a Northern reconnaissance mission, Lin remains aboard Zeus-1 as both a state-secret asset and a safeguard against betrayal. She sits on the bridge while Su Xiaosu guides the ship and the Paragons rest, ready to lower the psychic helmet whenever aliens approach. Her ability lets the group gather close-range images that conventional scouts could not obtain. She also refuses an outsider’s attempt to recruit or separate her from Lan Jue, explaining that without his intervention she would not be alive and that she intends to remain at his side. Her joking language about romance does not change the underlying relationship of rescue, chosen service, and family loyalty. (Chapters 671–674)

That loyalty does not make her flawless. While speaking with Ling Ya, Lin removes the helmet and becomes distracted. A fast Swordfish alien arrives without enough warning and detects Zeus-1 through a psychic pulse. Lan Jue takes control long enough to recover the situation, tells Lin not to lose focus, and she apologizes and resumes her post. The mistake is specifically Lin’s lapse, not Su Xiaosu’s piloting failure, and it establishes the most practical counter to her masking: it requires continuous concentration and timely awareness. Lin subsequently maintains the ruse through an hour of close observation, combining constant mental masking with the vessel’s physical concealment. She cannot sustain it forever and must rest once the crew withdraws into an asteroid field. Finding survivors behind enemy lines

During the human counteroffensive, Lin enters the field in a refurbished golden mecha. Lan Jue assigns her to search for human minds because his own psychic perception cannot distinguish them reliably amid a mass of hostile alien consciousness. The mecha extends her scan across a large area without immediate strain, but no human signal appears at first. When she finally detects roughly ten life-forms inside a ruined building, she leads Lan Jue to them while he destroys attacking aliens. Locating the people is Lin’s achievement; clearing the path and shielding her from toxic air are Lan Jue’s. (Chapters 733–742)

The discovery becomes an alien trap when infected captives detonate. Lin and Lan Jue are caught in the explosions but survive under his protection. She then brings a small verti-car and combines its concealment with her own psionic obfuscation for a covert pursuit. Because the vehicle is far smaller than Zeus-1, she can hide it without an amplifier. Her veil has a finite ceiling, however: when the Pharmacist releases power beyond what Lin can cover, stealth ends. Lin continues masking atmospheric entries and covert travel in later campaigns. Her presence helps Zeus-1 slip toward Sheol, but neither her expertise nor accompanying Paragons can defeat every detection network. A scouting attempt near Europa fails when the alien blockade is exceptionally dense and backed by high-level commanders. The failure is collective and environmental rather than evidence that Lin loses her Talent: too many overlapping searchers and too little room make continued approach impossible. (Chapters 757–812)

The memories that had to disappear

Near the end of the war, Lan Jue calls Lin for a security task no other member of the household can perform. The vital-crystal transmutation process must remain secret; the assembled group agrees to the security plan, and Lan Qing explicitly volunteers to lose the knowledge. Lin later strips the relevant memories from Lan Qing and the Pharmacist; by this point the narrative calls her the strongest Adept in the psychic realm. Her final personal arc is also emotional intelligence rather than battlefield surveillance. After Xiuxiu sacrifices herself, Lin tells Mika what happened and supports Ke’er as the sisters grieve. Lin is a slender, pretty young woman with short green hair and pale green eyes. Her sweetness and small, flushed face contribute to an initially harmless impression, while psychic use often changes her presentation: her eyes can turn gold, a pale-golden aura gathers around her head, and a golden doppelganger or projection can appear in combat. On missions she may wear a metallic psychic amplifier or pilot a refurbished golden mecha. The red hair, pink eyes, and glasses described beside her at the store belong to Mika, not Lin. Her manner combines playfulness with unusual emotional sensitivity. She complains theatrically about Lan Jue’s absences, jokes with outsiders, and calls him boss or master, yet can switch immediately to operational focus. Her loyalty is intense because she believes he saved her life. The story presents affectionate and sometimes romantic teasing, but does not establish a partnership with him; she accepts that he does not reciprocate and remains because the Amazons are her chosen family. Psychic perception makes Lin attentive to states others conceal. She can calm Mika, sustain exhausted students, and feel Xiuxiu’s private sorrow. Psychokinesis, control, and psychic mending

Lin’s Core is located between her eyebrows and manifests through golden light. With a helmet-like amplifier, she can project control into machines and simultaneously seize three small gunboats. A larger battleship is harder because the target is more complex; the text demonstrates the contrast without fully explaining whether complexity, crew resistance, scale, or all three determine the burden. In direct Adept combat she can generate a golden doppelganger, though Hua Li’s combined oceanic and mental force drives it back. These applications establish reach and versatility, not unrestricted domination of any mind or machine. (Chapters 76, 113–114, and 131)

Her psychic mending works on will and mental condition. A golden aura soothes exhausted ARC trainees, renews courage, and lets them continue, while also restoring sensitivity enough to make later pain more vivid. Lan Jue tracks repeated use and relies on Lin and the other masked teachers to prevent lasting harm. She can also scan cities for human survivors amid hostile minds and lead a team toward the signals she isolates. Alien contact is exhausting. An hour of probing drains her, a day-long operation requires repeated meditation, and sustained close surveillance forces withdrawal so she can rest.
