Pharmacist

The Pharmacist is the proprietor of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, a master of traditional alchemy, and the bearer of Occisus, the deadliest of the Four Banishing Blades. Her guarded life on Skyfire Avenue is shaped by two responsibilities: raising her daughter Jun'er after her husband's disappearance and learning to control a weapon that grants immense power while consuming its bearer. She later becomes the Paragon called the Harbinger Fairy and one of the four people who establish the Banishing Strategy against Monarch.

Biography

The Hall of Supreme Harmony and a borrowed family

The Pharmacist first enters Lan Jue's life as the formidable woman behind Skyfire Avenue's finest and most expensive medicines. Her Hall of Supreme Harmony is both a successful business and an expression of her traditional education: its grounds, music, remedies, and cultivation spaces preserve an older Chinese culture. Although she is not initially a council member, the Avenue treats her as more important than an ordinary resident. She is already near the peak of ninth level, but keeps other people at a distance and presents commerce as the main reason for her work. (Chapters 238 and 251–252)

That reserve conceals the pressure of raising Jun'er alone. The Pharmacist tells Lan Jue that her husband disappeared on a military exploration mission while she was pregnant. Her own attempt to search space exposed the unborn child to cosmic radiation, and Jun'er was born with undeveloped optic nerves and no sight. When the lonely girl begins asking for her father, the Pharmacist asks Lan Jue to play that role because his strength and traditional bloodline might withstand Jun'er's unusually perceptive senses. She initially frames the request as an exchange for her aid, but her composure breaks when she admits that what she wants is not a fighter or payment, but a complete childhood for her daughter. (Chapters 252–253)

Lan Jue accepts without compensation, and the arrangement becomes a real family bond rather than a temporary performance. The Pharmacist watches him tell Jun'er stories, stimulate her optic nerves with gentle bioelectricity, and promise that she will one day see. She responds by treating him as a younger brother and by allowing him into the private life she had kept closed even to her Avenue peers. Jun'er gives both adults a reason to move beyond bereavement: for the Pharmacist, Lan Jue is not a replacement husband, but a trusted co-parent whose presence restores warmth to a home defined by waiting. (Chapters 253–260 and 340–341)

The Great Adept Tournament and a hidden blade

The Pharmacist travels to Planet Luo because the Great Adept Tournament offers both combat pressure and a rare chance to let Jun'er experience the wider world. She enters as the strongest competitor in Skyfire Avenue's delegation beneath Paragon, while the Gourmet often watches Jun'er during her matches. Her sword techniques overwhelm ordinary ninth-level fighters and even let her defeat Chu Cheng, whose Hades powers are already approaching the Realm of Protogenia. Yet she does not expose the full nature of her strength, and her later withdrawal against Jun Yongye is a deliberate choice rather than a defeat. (Chapters 390–428 and 474–478)

Her priority throughout the tournament is not public acclaim. She protects Jun'er's identity after the child's precognition awakens, joins the Gourmet and the Terminator in recognizing the danger of that revelation, and supports Lan Jue's growing place as Jun'er's father. The trip also proves that the family she constructed can exist outside the Hall: Jun'er cheers for both parents, receives a projection helmet that gives her a form of sight, and forms a bond with the Terminator. By the time the delegation returns, the Pharmacist's previously solitary life has become tied to Lan Jue, the Avenue, and a network of people willing to protect her child. In the sealed cultivation chamber beneath her Hall, she then tells Lan Jue what she has hidden. She and her husband found two ancient swords with the legacy of Celestial Master Qian and tried to join with them before reaching Paragon. Their confidence nearly killed them: the blades fed on their life force, and only medicines and power-gem arrays kept their destructive energies contained. Her husband joined an exploration fleet partly to find more materials for that suppression and vanished with Ultus. The Pharmacist built the Hall's wealth into a five-elements and eight-trigrams array that suppresses her own sword, allowing years of painful refinement instead of an uncontrolled breakthrough. (Chapters 492–494)

The sword she carries is Occisus, the death blade among the Four Banishing Blades. The revelation changes her tournament forfeit: Jun Yongye and Xuanyuan Shishi are the awakened spirits of Captus and Demortus, and she yielded so that they could test Lan Jue and Zhou Qianlin as prospective bearers. She begins searching for the lost Banishing Diagram, teaches Lan Jue that the Harmonious Swords require an honest union of heart and spirit, and treats preparation for the alien crisis as a responsibility shared among all four blades. Hope remains personal as well as strategic, because finding Ultus may also reveal what remains of her husband. (Chapters 494–495)

Star Division and the truth aboard Ultus

After the Clairvoyant's death, the Pharmacist stands beside Lan Jue as Star Division is organized. She is assigned to First Brigade's ace squad rather than field command because the Division's commanders must be expert mecha pilots, but she and the Gourmet remain its strongest direct-combat assets. In early missions she uses a light, speed-oriented mecha to carry her Discipline rather than replace it. Her sword clears alien defenders and pirate forces with frightening precision, while her medicines and knowledge help sustain the organization around her. (Chapters 509–545 and 565–588)

The first clashes with the Violet Princess establish the limit of power short of Paragon. Even fighting beside Lan Jue, the Gourmet, and the Driver, the Pharmacist cannot defeat an alien royal whose command of protogenia eclipses theirs. She nevertheless protects the Division, contributes intelligence, and continues refining Occisus instead of forcing another premature union. This discipline matters because her original tragedy began when she and her husband ignored the same warning; she now insists that Lan Jue and Qianlin build foundations capable of surviving their blades. (Chapters 585–593 and 625–631)

During reconnaissance after the Northern fleet's disastrous offensive, the three gathered blades sense Ultus aboard the alien home world. The Pharmacist wants immediate recovery more than anyone, yet accepts that attacking at their current strength would only waste lives. The restraint collapses when evidence confirms that her husband is dead. Grief and rage finally align her will completely with Occisus, and her breakthrough against the Violet Princess manifests the Gates of Slaughter strongly enough to frighten the alien away. She becomes a Paragon, but the same release tears down the emotional barriers that had allowed her to wait for years. (Chapters 688–702)

A reckless search and Li Ke's surviving will

After the breakthrough, the Pharmacist leaves Jun'er a recording and flies alone toward the alien home worlds. She knows the mission is likely fatal, but can no longer endure uncertainty about her husband and wants any surviving part of him back. She waits until the planets prepare to transfer, then throws her entire strength through Occisus at Monarch. Ultus answers in the hands of a human-shaped enemy, and the man bound within it resists long enough for Lan Jue and Jue Di to rescue her. Her attack fails to recover the sword, but proves that her husband's will has survived inside it. (Chapters 702–726)

The corpus first calls her missing husband Mo Liansheng, but later identifies Ultus's surviving spirit as Li Ke, an exceptional Eastern officer; it does not explain whether these are aliases, a translation inconsistency, or another naming discrepancy. Captured with his exploration team, the man within Ultus watched the aliens dissect his companions and destroy his body. He burned his remaining will into the sword, feigned submission so Monarch would keep the weapon usable, and spent years preserving intelligence about the aliens. Through the rune he passes to the Pharmacist, he explains their cellular nature, costly planetary teleportation, and plan to create an alien realm. He also reveals that the Banishing Strategy is hidden within Ultus, turning recovery of the sword from a private hope into humanity's only credible answer to the home worlds. (Chapters 253, 726–731, and 857)

The Pharmacist returns ashamed of abandoning Jun'er and promises not to run away again. That regret does not erase her hatred, but it redirects it into the coalition's operations. She leads strikes against progenitors, uses Occisus with Lan Jue's Captus to pierce targets conventional weapons cannot reliably harm, and helps defend the human fleets during the destruction and liberation of occupied planets. Her battlefield role becomes the practical expression of her grief: every alien she stops protects another family from suffering what happened to hers. (Chapters 733–765)

The Harbinger Fairy and the recovery of Ultus

Combat strengthens the Pharmacist's Slaughter Domain. During Lan Jue and Qianlin's shared ascension, the surrounding power pushes her from the first Paragon degree into Reflection of Heaven and Earth and releases further seals on Occisus. As the Harbinger Fairy, she can become a giant dharmic image with sword and body joined, carve through alien formations, and contest opponents above her formal cultivation. She remains vulnerable to enemies of overwhelming raw power, and the sword's greatest attacks consume enormous energy, so she fights most effectively within teams that can control the field or provide an escape. (Chapters 760–788 and 814–839)

She joins Lan Jue and Qianlin in the infiltration of Monarch because no one has a greater claim on the goal or a stronger connection to Ultus. Jue Di's sacrifice creates the opening, and the team escapes with the missing blade. The Pharmacist carries Occisus and the recovered Ultus away together, finally sensing the husband for whom she had waited, but the reunion is incomplete: Li Ke is a fading spirit rather than a living man. She refuses to turn that pain into another suicidal choice and brings both the weapon and its intelligence back to the coalition. (Chapters 837–856)

Li Ke's appearance gives the Pharmacist and Jun'er one brief chance to be a whole family. He initially intends to hide from his daughter and vanish after transferring Ultus, but Jun'er recognizes him and calls him father. The Pharmacist supports his decision to become the blade's true spirit rather than be erased, even though this requires Lan Qing to inherit Ultus as its living bearer. Her relationship to the sword therefore becomes intimate but not possessive: she helped recover it and remains joined to its spirit through Li Ke, while Lan Qing assumes its combat custody and responsibility. (Chapters 856–866)

Queen Yama and the Banishing Strategy

The Pharmacist fights beside the human Paragons as the Violet Princess and other advanced aliens attack Middle Heaven. Her hatred sharpens Occisus, but she does not act alone; the Gods of Wine, the Gourmet, scientists, and other Paragons create the openings that let her Slaughter Domain damage stronger opponents. After Li Ke identifies the requirements of the Strategy, purified alien vital energy advances her and Lan Qing into Nirvana. She then accepts full bodily integration with Occisus, knowing that once the Strategy begins its hunger may consume all four bearers. (Chapters 867–889)

In the final battle, the Pharmacist occupies one point of the formation with Lan Jue, Zhou Qianlin, and Lan Qing. She offers her body and Core to Occisus and endures the sword's escalating demand while Li Ke urges her to keep fighting for Jun'er. Human faith stabilizes the bearers, strengthens Li Ke's spirit, and raises all four to the Infinite. The completed Strategy kills Monarch and the Violet Prince and ends the existential threat, though it does so after many Paragons die protecting the formation. (Chapters 888–901)

After the war, the Pharmacist becomes publicly remembered as Queen Yama and withdraws from public view. She remains with Li Ke in the Immortal Realm, while Jun'er stays with Lan Jue's family on Skyfire Avenue for the time being. The Pharmacist visits often, preserving the family bond while sharing the realm that gives Li Ke's restored spirit a future. Reports that she and the other vanished heroes continue protecting humanity turn that private arrangement into public legend. (Chapters 902–903)

Appearance and personality

The Pharmacist appears much younger than her actual age, looking like a woman in her twenties when first seen. She has a pale, attractive face, long dark hair usually arranged in a traditional bun with a jade pin, and often wears silk dresses or embroidered qipao. Her controlled, classical presentation extends to her guqin playing, tea service, architecture, and alchemical practice. As the Harbinger Fairy, her dharmic image retains that feminine form while expanding to enormous scale with Occisus in hand. (Chapters 252, 492, 702, and 815)

She is proud, exacting, commercially shrewd, and capable of shifting from warmth to an intimidating coldness in moments. This severity protects a deeply vulnerable inner life. She is tender with Jun'er, slow to trust adults, and almost incapable of moderating grief once the barriers around it break. Her strongest development is not the disappearance of that grief but her growing willingness to share it: she accepts Lan Jue as family, apologizes when her solitary choice endangers others, and finally faces Li Ke's condition together with her daughter rather than hiding it. (Chapters 252–260, 391, 704, 722–733, and 856–866)

Disciplines and abilities

The Pharmacist's power combines Taoist cultivation, alchemy, a sword-oriented Discipline, and her progressive joining with Occisus. She is already near peak ninth level at her first direct appearance, reaches Paragon after years of deliberate suppression, rises through Reflection and Nirvana during the war, and attains the Infinite through the completed Banishing Strategy. Much of her greatest destructive output comes from the interaction between her own cultivation and Occisus rather than from an ordinary innate Talent alone. (Chapters 252, 492–495, 694–702, 785, 838, 882, and 899)

Alchemy and disciplined suppression

Her medical tradition comes from Celestial Master Qian's legacy and supports both commerce and cultivation. The Hall produces unusually effective Eastern medicines, while her private array gathers the five elements and eight trigrams around an S-ranked gem and ten A-ranked gems. She spends five years and the Hall's profits building it primarily to restrain Occisus. The suppression delays her ascension but continually polishes her Discipline and Domain, much like re-cultivation, allowing unusually rapid development after she finally crosses the Paragon threshold. (Chapters 238, 252, and 492–494)

Her remedies can restore reserves, stabilize dangerous cultivation, and prepare Adepts for extreme demands, but the corpus does not establish them as universal cures. She cannot repair Jun'er's undeveloped optic nerves, and medicine only kept her and Li Ke alive temporarily when the blades first consumed their life force. Her own combat use of bottled medicine can sharply amplify an attack, but it remains support for her Discipline rather than its source. (Chapters 252–253, 493, and 744–745)

Occisus and the Slaughter Domain

Occisus produces white cutting energy saturated with murderous intent. Before Paragon, the Pharmacist can manifest the blade as her Astrum, project numerous sword strikes, and cut through defenses that resist ordinary Adepts. Joining with it is dangerous: the sword feeds on life and once threatened to carve its way out of her body. Power-gem suppression, medicine, emotional control, and years of refinement are therefore prerequisites for her later command. (Chapters 253–260, 394–428, and 492–494)

Her Paragon breakthrough fully manifests the Harbinger Fairy and Slaughter Domain. Killing hostile creatures strengthens the Domain, and at Reflection she can expand her dharma beyond a thousand meters, make body and sword function as one, and use Bloom of a Thousand Swords across a broad area. Beheading the Three targets an enemy's spirit rather than merely the body. These attacks can harm Infinite-level aliens, but superior power can still knock her away, and prolonged or maximum release drains her severely. The Domain is also explicitly ill-suited to righteous human opponents, which limits its appropriate use even when no physical counter is present. (Chapters 694–696, 760–765, 784–788, 815, and 829–839)

Sword resonance and the Banishing Strategy

As one of the Four Banishing Blades, Occisus resonates with Captus, Demortus, and Ultus. That resonance can deepen all four bearers' access, lets complementary swords reinforce an attack, and briefly produced a counterfeit Gate of Slaughter when the Pharmacist first broke through. It does not let her freely command the other blades: Ultus remains bound to Li Ke and later Lan Qing, while Captus and Demortus have their own bearers. (Chapters 494–495, 679, 693–696, 745, and 857–864)

The full Banishing Strategy requires four separate bearers, the recovered knowledge within Ultus, and cultivation capable of surviving the formation's appetite. After reaching Nirvana, the Pharmacist integrates her body more completely with Occisus so all her protogenia and vital energy can feed the weapon. This improves control but makes failure fatal. In the final use, shared human faith supplies what the bearers lack, carries her to the Infinite, and allows the Strategy to destroy Monarch. Her continued mastery after the war is not demonstrated in detail. (Chapters 864–866 and 881–901)

• Jun'er: Her daughter and central responsibility. The Pharmacist's secrecy and suicidal search both arise from grief, but Jun'er ultimately forces her parents to face that grief as a family.
• Li Ke: Her husband and childhood companion. His disappearance shapes her isolation and cultivation; his survival as Ultus' spirit turns their reunion into both a strategic alliance and an unresolved marriage between a living woman and a sword-bound soul.
• Lan Jue: Her sworn younger brother, Jun'er's adoptive father, and fellow Banishing Blade bearer. He helps rebuild her family, rescues her from Monarch, and shares the final Strategy with her.
• Zhou Qianlin: A fellow sword bearer and member of the final formation. The Pharmacist guides her early preparation for Demortus and later relies on her restorative Domain during advancement.
• Lan Qing: Li Ke's former classmate and eventual bearer of Ultus. She accepts his custody of her husband's sword because he is the compatible bearer needed to complete the Strategy.
• Gourmet: Her longtime Avenue ally, guardian of Jun'er during the tournament, and fellow Star Division combatant.
