Jun Yongye

Jun Yongye is the human-form spirit of Captus, one of the four Banishing Blades. He is not a human Adept who merely owns the sword: the apparently human tournament challenger and the blade’s awakened will are one entity, with Captus itself as the deeper master. White Blademaster is the nickname earned by his white robes and sword skill. He enters the Great Adept Tournament to find suitable bearers, chooses Lan Jue and Zhou Qianlin, and later teaches them how to survive and apply a fraction of Captus’s ancient power.

Biography

A white-robed enigma in the tournament

Jun Yongye first appears on the tournament roster as a little-known Ninth Level swordsman. The Accountant identifies him as a wolf in sheep’s clothing: opponents fall quickly to an ordinary-looking wooden sword and cannot explain how they lost. His white, old-fashioned robes produce the name White Blademaster, while his quiet bearing makes the display look like perfected martial technique rather than an obviously supernatural weapon. Against Yan Ningya, he answers time control and the Alluring Blade with minute changes of angle, timing, and intention. A flick of his blade clears spectators’ minds; apparently slow thrusts arrive at the decisive place despite her altered flow of time. He defeats a Paragon’s disciple without exposing Captus’s unrestricted force. The result demonstrates understanding rather than ordinary rank: tournament rules and the need to remain concealed keep him from fighting as the full Banishing Blade. (Chapters 445–447)

The sword behind the swordsman

The Pharmacist later reveals that Jun Yongye is Captus, not simply its bearer. More precisely, he is the personality and human image produced by the sword’s awakened spirit. Captus remains the primordial weapon and governing will. This distinction later separates him from Li Ke, a deceased human master whose independent soul is impressed into Ultus. Jun Yongye is created by his blade and cannot be treated as a separate mortal disciple with a conventional lifespan. (Chapters 493–494 and 877)

Jun Yongye and Xuanyuan Shishi, the corresponding spirit of Demortus, took human form after receiving complementary sword teachings associated with Celestial Master Qian. Maintaining those bodies drains them, and they warn that the forms will fail within roughly ten years if no appropriate bearers are found. Their tournament participation is therefore a search under a deadline. They test Lan Jue and Qianlin, determine that the pair can resonate with Captus and Demortus, and come to Skyfire Avenue to begin preparation. (Chapters 493–494 and 535–539)

A guide inside Captus

Once Lan Jue joins with Captus, Jun Yongye becomes instructor, warning voice, and interpreter within the blade. He cultivates beside the prospective bearers before the union so they can recognize its energy, then advises Lan Jue during encounters with alien power and immortal qi. When the unleashed blade threatens to hold him in combat too long, Jun Yongye orders him to flee. The spirit can counsel and sometimes direct the weapon’s expression, but Captus’s power still exceeds both teacher and bearer. (Chapters 535–539, 662–696)

He and Xuanyuan Shishi teach the Harmonious Swords as a union of intention, technique, and complementary sword principles. The method does not require the bearers to empty all their energy into every strike; precise application can reduce cost while increasing force. Even after Paragon breakthroughs, however, Jun Yongye warns that the bearers command only a small fraction of the blades. Lan Jue later concludes that the earlier estimate of one tenth was optimistic, not an exact measure he had already reached. (Chapters 693–716, 823, and 882)

Preparing the Banishing Strategy

After Ultus is recovered and Li Ke exposes the Strategy’s preserved knowledge, Jun Yongye helps the four bearers reconcile what each sword contains. He is a specialist in Captus and the Harmonious pairing, not the sole keeper of the full formation; Ultus holds the Strategy’s central inheritance, while the other blades supply missing principles. The sword spirits’ experience allows the group to make a decision no human theory alone could safely justify. (Chapters 857–864 and 877–889)

Jun Yongye, Xuanyuan Shishi, and Li Ke help the bearers decide to give their bodies fully to the blades so that the weapons become part of them. The Banishing Strategy succeeds, but the corpus does not show Jun Yongye emerging afterward as a separate white-robed person. His latest defensible status is continued existence as Captus’s sword spirit within the joined weapon-bearer relationship, not a confirmed death or an independent human life. (Chapters 889–903)

Appearance and personality

His human form resembles a man around thirty with a medium build, pale skin, dark eyes, and long hair gathered by a wooden clip. He wears a white robe in an old dynastic style rather than modern clothing. He is not striking at first glance; attention instead reveals evenly measured steps and a flowing, almost lazy precision. In combat his warm gaze narrows entirely to the blade. (Chapters 434–446)

Jun Yongye is courteous, calm, patient, and gently amused until Captus’s survival or bearer is endangered. His tournament bows and pleasant smile conceal both loneliness and purpose. As an instructor he becomes serious and impatient when Lan Jue mistakes ancient power for something easily controlled. His identity is shaped by service to the sword: he seeks a bearer, teaches technique, and accepts that his visible form is temporary. (Chapters 445–447, 535–539, and 693–716)

Disciplines and abilities

The true way of the sword

Jun Yongye’s tournament skill fuses sword intention, martial technique, and the spiritual nature of Captus. Tiny movements redirect superior-looking attacks, his blade’s resonance can focus onlookers, and his timing can overcome Yan Ningya’s time distortion. These feats resemble protogenia without being a normal Ninth Level Domain. They are a controlled human-form expression of an ancient weapon, deliberately kept below the force that would expose Captus. (Chapters 434–447)

Captus manifestation and limits

He can transform between a human image and Captus, communicate mentally with the bearer, and draw on memories carried by the blade. The Banishing weapon’s potential far exceeds a mortal or ordinary Paragon’s capacity. Human form is costly and time-limited without a bearer, while even a Nirvana-level Lan Jue cannot confidently command a tenth of Captus. Jun Yongye is also subordinate to the sword’s deeper will: unlike Li Ke, he is part of the weapon rather than a former owner independently lodged inside it. (Chapters 493–494, 535–539, 877, and 882)

Harmonious Swords instruction

With Xuanyuan Shishi, he teaches the complementary sword styles that let Captus and Demortus act in harmony through Lan Jue and Qianlin. Intention and exact application make limited internal energy disproportionately effective, but successful use still depends on compatible bearers, shared cultivation, and growing comprehension. The Harmonious Swords are described as second only to the full Banishing Strategy, yet they do not remove the energetic and bodily limits of the humans performing them. Relationships

• Lan Jue: Captus’s selected bearer and Jun Yongye’s principal student. He teaches Lan Jue sword intention, warns him during dangerous releases, and helps prepare his final union with the blade.
• Zhou Qianlin: Chosen with Lan Jue because their fused cultivation can support the paired swords. Her bond with Demortus is part of the Harmonious Swords path Jun Yongye teaches.
• Xuanyuan Shishi: The human-form spirit of Demortus and Jun Yongye’s complementary counterpart. Their sword styles were designed as two parts of a harmonious whole.
• Pharmacist: The bearer of Occisus and an early interpreter of Jun Yongye’s true identity. Her connection to another Banishing Blade lets the sword spirits recognize her as a fellow disciple.
• Li Ke: Ultus’s former human master and later embedded spirit. Li Ke helps reveal the full Strategy, but his independent postmortem will differs fundamentally from Jun Yongye’s sword-created consciousness.
