Yan Ningya

Yan Ningya is an elite mecha student whose concealed position as the Epochrion's disciple is revealed at the Great Adept Tournament. She combines a rare time Discipline with an elaborate sword art and is treated as one of the Great Conclave's leading hopes for the next generation.

Biography

Student and Northern contender

Yan Ningya first joins the National Eastern University students who endure Lan Jue's extreme survival training. Already known as one half of a strong sibling pairing in DreamNet, she matches Tang Mi's determination and quietly treats her as a rival. She later represents the Great Conclave at the Great Adept Tournament. Hacked internal correspondence places her at a rank comparable to Titan within the organization, and her time Discipline leads the Accountant to correctly identify her as the Epochrion's disciple. (Chapters 248–249, 431–433)

Yan advances to the round-robin quarterfinals but loses her first match to Jun Yongye when his superior sword understanding repeatedly breaks her energy blade and overcomes her time dilation. Rather than dismissing the defeat, she identifies concentration as the lesson and listens while the Epochrion explains that her Discipline is not yet united with her swordsmanship. Yan then defeats the Driver after controlling the timing of his charges, but her earlier loss prevents her from advancing. She is last shown alive among the Great Conclave forces surrounding the Eastern delegation after the tournament. (Chapters 443–447, 451, 457, 460, 487)

Appearance and personality

Yan Ningya is a classically beautiful young woman with milky-white skin, large dark eyes, delicate brows, and an initially veiled face. Her eyes flash with hypnotic colors when she fights, and her movements alternate between shy grace and fierce precision. She is proud of her swordsmanship, intensely competitive, and physically tenacious, but responds to an instructive defeat with analysis rather than denial. (Chapters 248–249, 437, 445–446, 451)

Disciplines and abilities

Time manipulation

Yan can dilate local time to slow an opponent, accelerate movement so that a charging enemy overshoots, and phase instantly across short distances. Her Discipline is rare and strategically potent, but it does not stop actions absolutely: a sufficiently refined opponent can adapt to the altered timing or disperse the field through superior understanding. (Chapters 433, 445–447, 457)

Alluring Blade

She creates a six-foot energy sword and practices the Alluring Blade, supported by the Naked Eyes of the Concubine. The style mixes sword light, deceptive beauty, song, and time distortion; at full force it can threaten the tournament arena itself. Jun Yongye exposes its limit by showing that Yan has not yet fused the true meaning of time with her blade, while the Driver's straightforward speed proves vulnerable to the same combination. (Chapters 445–447, 457)

Relationships

  • Clockmaker: The Clockmaker, then known as the Epochrion, is Yan Ningya's teacher. She diagnoses Yan's loss as a failure of understanding rather than a lack of power. (Chapters 433, 451)
  • Jun Yongye: Jun Yongye defeats Yan through superior sword mastery and leaves her with a direct lesson about joining time to the Alluring Blade. (Chapters 445–447)
  • Driver: Yan controls the timing of the Driver's lightning charges and defeats him in the round-robin stage. (Chapter 457)
  • Titan: Yan and Titan hold comparable internal standing as disciples of the Great Conclave's Paragons and later appear together in its post-tournament force. (Chapters 433, 451, 487)
  • Tang Mi: At the university training camp, Yan's glances and matching determination reveal a quiet rivalry with Tang Mi. (Chapters 248–249)
