Agent Four

Agent Four is a founding single-digit member and chief scientist of Pure whose rank reflects both his technical genius and his command of Qi. He develops weapons and studies blood technology for Pure, opens a portal under Zero's orders without understanding its true consequence, then helps Quinn close that breach and later cooperates with Logan against Immortui's plans. Biography

Pure's scientist and uneasy strategist

Agent Four is present among Pure's original single-digit founders when the group demonstrates fourth-stage Qi. Over the following centuries he becomes its great scientist, studying captured blood armour and creating Qi-based weapons and devices. His priorities are utilitarian: he warns Logan that public deployment of enhanced agents could provoke the Vampire Corps, yet also argues that sacrificing one town is acceptable if it prevents enemies from obtaining the Red Heart. He works with other anti-vampire groups and uses the blood armour's barrier to stop a faction meeting from becoming a fight, making research and coalition management parts of the same campaign. As Pure's old leadership fractures, Agent Four keeps his Red Heart research private and aligns with Zero's plan. He accepts red crystals for study, removes his work from a lab even Chris cannot fully reconstruct, and joins Zero, Erin, and Flora on a demon-tier beast planet to collect crystals. Agent Four regards this as preparation for the coming battle and uses his blood equipment to protect the expedition, but its defence marks him as a priority target once celestial Gorgath attacks. Zero orders the others to keep him alive because the plan still requires both his expertise and the Red Heart. (Chapters 1824, 1842, 1864–1889, and 1944–1949)

Opening and repairing the first portal

Following Zero's instructions, Agent Four carries the Red Heart to a place where two realms lie close and draws symbols he was told to memorise. Laxmus's attack forces him to expose his augmented body and fourth-stage Qi; he spends his crystal reserves and armour defending the unfinished circle, then completes it despite not knowing what will emerge. The activation consumes his blood armour and crown and opens a route for hostile demons rather than simply returning Zero's master. Fascination gives way to self-preservation and then responsibility: once he confirms Zero is dead and understands the invading army's scale, he tries to reverse the process. When Quinn finds him, Agent Four admits that he opened the portal and says he no longer considers himself part of the collapsed Pure. He cannot touch the Red Heart's exposed vampire energy, but infers that the magic-circle symbols direct energy like code. Working under attack, he redraws the formation to stop its power source and then uses Quinn's celestial energy to close the remaining opening. His solution is experimental rather than expert certainty—he repeatedly warns that he is interpreting an unfamiliar system—but it succeeds and prevents the breach from remaining permanently open. Cooperation against Immortui

Agent Four later works openly beside Logan, who explains that he was never a direct follower of Immortui and can provide knowledge gained from serving Zero. He helps identify the energy, weak-point, and magic-circle requirements for crossing realms, advises the mission to rescue Jessica, and alters the permanent formation at Magnus's facility. Logan remains suspicious because both scientists conceal knowledge from each other, but their complementary analysis lets the group interrupt the portal mechanism. (Chapters 2331–2356)

Agent Four also honours a secret request from Quinn. He pretends that additional symbols are needed to protect Jessica, buying time and creating a closing window too short for anyone to follow Quinn into Immortui's realm. Logan initially restrains him as a traitor, but Agent Four explains that the false runes and concealment were Quinn's own plan, while the actual portal work had already been completed. He is alive when he states that no known energy source remains sufficient to reopen the route; later references discuss his experiments or compare magic circles to his work without establishing a later personal appearance. Appearance and personality

Agent Four has long, ragged, spiked hair extending past his shoulders and wears glasses that continually slip down his nose; he refuses corrective surgery because even a tiny risk to his eyesight is unacceptable. His white Pure overcoat bears a large number four. Much of his body is secretly mechanical despite flesh-like coverings. He is analytical, irritable, fascinated by difficult technology, and willing to accept severe moral costs, but he can revise a plan when evidence proves its consequence catastrophic. Scientific engineering and research

Agent Four creates Pure's Qi guns and remains the principal engineer behind its weapons, devices, Red Heart research, and use of captured blood technology. He analyses unfamiliar systems through experimentation, keeps sensitive work compartmentalised, and can scan demon-tier signals with a handheld tablet. His greatest late development is learning to interpret magic-circle symbols as instructions that route an energy source. That understanding begins as inference under pressure and improves through later joint research with Logan; he still states that he has studied circles rather than magic as a whole. Qi and fourth-stage enhancement

Agent Four has a strong grasp of Qi and earned rank four through strength as well as intellect. He can reinforce himself enough to destroy a console without injuring his fist and activates the fourth stage to turn his skin dark red, raise his physical output, and fight Laxmus at close range. The state is exhausting and difficult to invoke twice in one day; after one burst and prolonged cannon fire, his colour fades and his body is heavily drained. (Chapters 1607, 1949, and 1960–1965)

Cybernetic body and integrated weapons

Agent Four has replaced many body parts with mechanical components while retaining human blood. A compartment in his abdomen stores the Red Heart, his legs transform into jets for high-speed movement and flight, and either arm can become a compact cannon. The cannons combine condensed demon-tier crystal energy with Qi and can fire rapid yellow blasts; depleted demon-tier reserves force him to fall back on a weaker demi-god-tier crystal. Even point-blank fire only injures rather than defeats Laxmus, demonstrating the system's finite ammunition and inability to bridge every power gap. (Chapters 1949 and 1960–1965)

Blood armour and barrier

After studying the blood armour, Agent Four learns to use it with a crown and the Red Heart as a sustained power source. Raising his hand projects an invisible wall revealed by red ripples on impact, strong enough to stop Jake's lightning and delay Gorgath. The barrier is generated by equipment, not an innate vampire ability; attacks originating inside it can pass outward, and its activation is too slow if an opponent reaches him before he raises his hand. The portal's activation consumes the armour and crown, ending his demonstrated access to that defence. (Chapters 1634, 1886–1887, 1947–1949, and 1965)

Relationships

• Logan: Agent Four and Logan begin as rival-aligned scientists who exchange information while distrusting each other's decisions. Later they research realm crossings together; Logan still monitors him closely, but accepts his explanation after Quinn's secret departure. (Chapters 1598–1607, 1872–1874, and 2331–2357)
• Zero: Zero directs Agent Four's Red Heart work and values him as essential to the portal plan. Agent Four follows those orders without understanding Immortui's intended breach, then reverses course after Zero's death exposes the true outcome. (Chapters 1824, 1842, 1880–1981)
• Quinn: Quinn initially treats Agent Four as the person responsible for the demon portal, then relies on his technical inference to close it. Their later trust remains limited but sufficient for Quinn to entrust him with the secret timing of a one-way passage into Immortui's realm. (Chapters 1981–1985 and 2333–2357)
• Chris: Chris and Agent Four are fellow Pure founders with sharply different interests: Chris dismisses much of the technical work, while Agent Four develops the equipment behind Pure's plans.
