Erin
Erin is a military-academy student and ice user whose search for the strength to prevent another family tragedy draws her into Pure, the Cursed faction, and a transformative blood ritual. As the first Dhampir created by Quinn Talen, she develops powers uniquely dangerous to vampires but also an escalating compulsion to kill them. Her later rise as the Dhampir Queen ends in conflict with her former friends; the eventual discovery that her memories had been altered before her attacks confirms interference without establishing exactly which decisions or motives remained independently hers. (Chapters 4, 201–210, 498, 1038–1039, 1972–1978, and 2344)
Biography
Awakening and Military Academy
Erin enters the military academy as a confident level-five ice user whose purchased ability and prior sword training place her near the top of the new class. She forms spears and columns of ice during assessment, but her ability is not an inherited Original power, and she already knows how to use her family's silver longsword without it. Her reserve and bluntness make her seem aloof, while her insistence that ability levels be assessed fairly reflects how seriously she treats strength in a society where power determines safety and status. (Chapters 4, 7, 29, and 141)
That fixation grows from the destruction of her family. Erin's parents worked under one of the Big Four on an orange planet until a Dalki attack killed them and the people around her. A woman dressed in white killed the remaining Dalki and told the surviving Erin to become strong enough that no one could take anything from her again. Erin internalizes the lesson as both ambition and fear: every occasion on which she cannot protect herself or another person feels like a repetition of the helplessness that defined her childhood. (Chapter 201)
The academy's portal expeditions expose the more generous part of that drive. Erin expends her ice reserve moving Layla away from a Dalki and collapses from the effort, then reacts angrily when Quinn's concealed strength makes earlier danger and assessment results appear avoidable. Layla comforts her rather than rejecting the anger, and their initially tense partnership becomes a close friendship. Erin remains sharp-tongued, but her choices repeatedly show that she values the group enough to spend the power she has rather than preserve her own advantage. (Chapters 129, 141, 147, and 187)
Jack Truedream exploits the absence of political protection behind Erin's high ability level. He restrains her and forcibly removes the ice ability despite her attempt to resist with an ice dagger, leaving her without the power around which she built her confidence. Layla reveals her connection to Pure and arranges the only refuge she can offer; Erin accepts because Truedream can otherwise find her, not because she has adopted Pure's anti-ability doctrine. She also asks Quinn to turn her into a vampire so she can regain power, but Quinn refuses an immediate transformation and promises to reconsider only if she still wants it later. Her departure is therefore a decision under severe pressure, shaped by fear of further victimization and a persistent desire to become capable again. (Chapters 202–210 and 290)
Vampire World and the Cursed Faction
Inside Pure, Erin recognizes that its discipline and Qi training can make her stronger but does not accept its ideology. People who question the organization disappear and return changed, while agents monitor one another and brutalize civilians. Erin takes the dangerous numbered-agent examination and becomes Agent 99 primarily because the rank permits missions outside the base, giving her a chance to find Layla and escape. On Latrina she secretly asks Leo for help despite Agent 15's surveillance, and after the agent's cruelty turns the assignment into open conflict, she chooses to leave with Leo and train under him for a year. (Chapters 362–367)
Leo gives that escape a constructive direction. He trains Erin in Qi, perception, and disciplined swordsmanship while treating her desire for strength as something that must be controlled rather than merely fed. Erin accepts the rigour because she still wants revenge on the Dalki and enough power to survive Pure and Truedream, but she also wants to return to her friends. The mentor-student bond becomes central to her identity: Leo provides the protection she once sought while expecting her to make decisions and endure the consequences of difficult training herself. (Chapters 365–367, 472, and 520)
Erin reunites with the others during the rescue in the vampire settlement, contributes her blood and sword to their survival, and again asks Quinn for transformation after the immediate crisis. This time Quinn performs a blood ritual with her informed agreement. His system identifies the result not as an ordinary vampire but as a Dhampir, a human-vampire hybrid able to tolerate sunlight and live without the usual blood dependency. Erin did not regain her stolen ice through the ritual, and neither she nor Quinn initially understands the additional hunting instinct attached to her new subclass. (Chapters 472–498 and 511)
Transformation does allow Erin to learn a new ability. After rejecting the powers available in the vampire market, she asks Leo to teach her his Dragon Eyes because she believes its energy sight will improve her swordsmanship; her explicit goal remains killing the Dalki who harmed her family and friends. At the vampire school she trains the ability and Qi, then a bloodsucker attack triggers the first clear Dhampir response: her eyes and aura turn yellow, her power rises against the vampire enemy, and the energy coating her weapon interferes with its healing. Erin wins without yet knowing why her body reacted, beginning a long conflict between a power that protects her allies and an instinct that defines those allies' species as prey. (Chapters 705–706 and 710–722)
Dalki War and Vampire Kingship
As the war expands, Leo and Quinn learn what Erin's transformation means. Her appearance shifts with her surroundings, and her strength increases in response to vampires, leading Richard Eno to identify her as a Dhampir and initially consider killing her. He explains that killing vampires lets the subclass grow and that its urge resembles a vampire's hunger but demands a death rather than blood. Quinn chooses trust over execution, while Leo accepts responsibility for helping Erin retain control and promises to stop her if she becomes a danger against her wishes. (Chapters 840–843 and 1036–1039)
Control proves possible only as management, not cure. Leo gives Erin cursed suppression chains whose passive pressure reduces the urge; Qi lets her resist the chains' curse while using them as weapons, but increasing exposure to vampires eventually overwhelms the restraint. He takes her away from settlements and has her hunt criminal vampires and bloodsuckers, spacing the kills farther apart as her endurance improves. The method partly satisfies the compulsion and gives her practical control, yet every kill also advances the Dhampir evolution that strengthens the same instinct, leaving training dependent on a dangerous cycle. (Chapters 1079, 1124, and 1185)
Erin turns the restraints and her earlier family training into a personal combat system. She plans twelve movements divided between a katana-and-chain style derived from Leo and a longsword style based on her family; the reviewed passages explicitly establish six developed movements, not complete mastery of every planned technique. She gathers blood crystals for a blood weapon and intends to repay the Cursed faction for protecting her. Her work demonstrates agency and discipline during this period: the Dhampir urge is a serious pressure, but it does not erase her ability to design, practice, and choose how her power will serve the people around her. (Chapters 1185 and 1243)
Near the war's end, Leo entrusts Erin with a demon-tier greatsword originally given by Quinn. Its selectable ice and flame properties echo the ability she lost, while ring-triggered techniques produce tunnels, walls, and weapon-freezing effects; a custom sheath suppresses the sword's energy when it is not in use. Erin fights major vampire and Dalki-era threats with Leo, but a surge of Dhampir energy around Laxmus breaks her chains and makes even the Cursed ship unsafe. Unable to stop violent thoughts around nearby vampires, she chooses isolation rather than risk attacking Leo or the faction, carrying the weapon into exile while still hoping to master herself and return. (Chapters 1243, 1263–1264, 1355–1370, and 1517)
Celestial Conflict and the Millennial Return
On an Earthborn planet, Erin hides among humans, hunts beasts for money, and kills a vampire attacking a human. She acknowledges that she enjoys the kill but resolves to control the urge because Quinn's alliance between humans and vampires could collapse if she becomes its enemy. During the Dalki fighting she saves human and vampire forces, then kills Nicu and three other vampires before leaving in tears; she later returns to help against Graham and controls herself long enough to tell Layla that her friend is not her target. These actions are directly hers in the contemporaneous account. The much later memory-alteration revelation does not identify its starting chapter closely enough to assign or remove agency from any specific act in this early exile. (Chapters 1517–1525, 1563, and 1571)
During Quinn's millennium of absence, Erin becomes the Dhampir Queen and leads a force that follows her campaign against vampires. The new Dhampirs can arise through human-vampire birth, a vampire's subclass ritual, or conversion by another Dhampir, although the corpus does not document which individual followers Erin personally created. Her army's assault on the Red Vampires culminates in a battle with Laxmus in which she commands all four familiar kings, releases a settlement-wide wave of yellow energy, kills Laxmus, and takes the Red Heart. She then attempts to kill Layla before outside intervention forces her escape, leaving most of her own army behind to be destroyed by the surviving vampires. (Chapters 1581–1583, 1636, 1778–1792)
The fractured history also reveals that Erin hunted down Leo roughly a year after the Dalki war. She claims revenge for something he took from her, fights him with two allied Dhampirs, and uses his decision to protect Silver to exhaust his Qi before stabbing and finally killing him. Leo remains the more skilled swordsman and initially holds back because he hopes to reach his former student; Erin wins through greater power, the demon-tier sword's barriers, and an attack made when he is depleted. At the time, witnesses see genuine anger but cannot explain its cause. Chapter 2344 later confirms that Erin's memories had been altered before her attacks, yet it leaves the altered memories, the exact timing, and any commands unknown; it therefore recontextualizes her declared motive without proving that every movement was externally controlled. (Chapters 1857–1862 and 2344)
After the Red Vampire campaign destroys most of her army, Erin and Flora meet Zero in person for the first time and exchange the Red Heart for refuge and a formal alliance with Pure. This late, transactional arrangement is distinct from her youth as Agent 99: Erin distrusts Zero, expects betrayal, and uses Pure's resources while pursuing her own anti-vampire objective. When Zero eventually attacks her, the familiar kings stop his surprise strike; Erin kills him and drains his Qi together with the accumulated life energy he took from hundreds of thousands of victims. Empowered by that reserve, she faces Quinn with Dhampir energy, Dragon Eyes, demon-tier equipment, and the familiar kings, but cannot give a coherent explanation for the deaths surrounding her. Quinn overcomes her and kills her; Erin's final apology and thanks prompt his still-unproven suspicion of Jack, her body dissolves into a god-slayer crystal, and the system transfers all of her Qi to Quinn. (Chapters 1824, 1886–1892, 1964, and 1972–1978)
Reawakened World and the Demon War
Erin's death does not immediately resolve how responsibility should be assigned. Quinn understands that Jack Truedream first destabilized her life by stealing her ice ability and suspects him after her final words, yet he lacks proof during the immediate aftermath. The crystal and transferred Qi establish that her late power reached god-slayer status, but neither is Erin herself: Quinn holds the energy, while her demon sword remains behind and her demon-tier armour disappears during the final attack. (Chapters 1977–1978 and 1986)
Later discoveries also complicate the category that shaped her life. Quinn learns that naturally born human-vampire children may be considered “true” Dhampirs, while Erin was a rare subclass created by a vampire and other Dhampirs could be converted from her kind. Unlike the naturally born Jessica, Erin suffered the killing urge described as characteristic of the converted and subclass forms. The Originals speculate that Richard Eno may have spread or acted on the old fear of Dhampirs, but the corpus does not settle the race's ancient history or prove that Erin's fate was biologically inevitable. (Chapters 1636, 1713, and 2322)
Muka's investigation finally supplies one firm explanation for the unexplained change in Erin's campaign: Erin was among the first people whose memories Jim and Jack altered, and the alteration occurred before her attacks. How they reached her and precisely what they changed remain unknown. The four familiar kings explain separately that they contracted with Erin because her enormous energy could support their plan to save the familiar world, and that their obligation was to protect her; their participation does not itself establish who altered her mind. This evidence confirms manipulation while preserving uncertainty about how much independent intent remained behind Leo's death, the Dhampir war, and her final hostility toward Quinn. (Chapter 2344)
Erin's latest appearance occurs in the pain-filled realm encountered during the conflict with Immortui. A manifestation of Erin fights beside manifestations of Leo, Arthur, and other lost allies, using the greatsword's ice tunnel and her yellow aura while visibly enduring the suffering attached to the past. The scene presents help, memory, or spirit within that realm rather than a physical resurrection, and it does not restore her absorbed Qi or former body. Her latest confirmed physical status therefore remains dead, with the manifestation providing a final act of solidarity rather than a return to leadership. (Chapter 2481)
Appearance and personality
Erin is introduced as a blond-haired young woman with blue eyes and an intimidating, confident bearing. Immediately after the blood ritual, her hair becomes dark brown and her eyes gain an orange tint; her Dhampir physiology later adapts her presentation to the people around her, generally returning her to blond among humans while her hair turns black when vampire power or combat brings the other aspect forward. Bright yellow eyes and a yellow aura mark stronger Dhampir activation. In the later era she wears demon-tier armour and carries both a katana-like blood weapon and a massive ringed greatsword. (Chapters 4, 498, 715–716, 1036, 1789, and 1972)
Erin is proud, direct, disciplined, and intensely sensitive to helplessness. Family trauma teaches her to equate strength with the ability to prevent loss, producing both admirable courage and a dangerous inability to accept vulnerability. She spends herself to save friends, endures harsh training, and voluntarily leaves people she loves when she believes her urge may harm them. She can also be cold, vengeful, and willing to answer fear with lethal force. Her late cruelty cannot be read in isolation from confirmed memory alteration, but the source does not reduce her to a mindless puppet; the tragedy lies in the unresolved overlap between her existing anger, Dhampir compulsion, altered memories, and choices made through them. (Chapters 129–147, 201–210, 362–367, 1370, 1517–1525, 1857–1862, and 2344)
Powers and abilities
Erin's power set changes sharply across her life. She begins as an ice user and trained longswordswoman, loses the ability permanently, then develops Qi, Dragon Eyes, and Dhampir physiology after Quinn's ritual. Her late equipment and four familiar contracts add effects that are not innate to her, and her death ends her independent access to every power despite later manifestations reproducing familiar techniques. (Chapters 4, 202–203, 498, 705–706, 1038–1039, 1789, 1977–1978, and 2481)
Ice ability
Erin's original level-five ability lets her generate and shape ice. She forms spears and daggers, raises columns and barriers, creates platforms, and spreads ice beneath her feet for rapid movement. Cooling or numbing an injury can reduce pain, while a sufficiently prepared column can redirect allies or large enemies. The power is purchased rather than an Original ability and consumes her finite MC-cell reserve; large constructions require time and can leave her exhausted or unconscious. (Chapters 4–7, 29, 129, and 147)
Jack Truedream forcibly removes this ability in Chapter 203, and Erin never demonstrably regains it as an innate power. The ice tunnels, walls, freezing fields, and weapon-freezing effects she uses later come from the demon-tier greatsword's ice configuration. Treating those attacks as proof that her original ability returned would conflate an equipment skill with her own MC-cell power. (Chapters 202–203, 1263, 1858–1860, and 1972)
Dragon Eyes and perception
After becoming a Dhampir, Erin can learn a new ability and deliberately chooses Leo's self-created Dragon Eyes. The ability shows living bodies and energy as coloured auras, reveals movement through obstacles, and lets its user follow energy changes before an ordinary observer could react. Erin uses it to find an opponent's real position, read sword and projectile trajectories, sense condensed Qi that is invisible to normal sight, and coordinate precise attacks without relying only on surface vision. (Chapters 705–706, 713, 722, 1858–1859, and 1964–1972)
Dragon Eyes supplies information rather than automatic defence. Zero nearly bypasses it by keeping his Qi motionless and using only physical reinforcement for a surprise strike, and the familiar kings—not Erin's perception—stop his blade. Quinn's condensed bullet still penetrates her third-stage Qi after she senses it, forcing her to activate her armour. Leo also demonstrates that equal access to the ability does not erase differences in timing, discipline, and sword skill. (Chapters 1858–1860, 1964, and 1972)
Dhampir physiology and hunting response
Quinn's blood ritual creates Erin as a Dhampir subclass rather than an ordinary vampire. She gains vampire-like strength, speed, durability, and regeneration while tolerating sunlight and living without a normal need for blood. Her appearance adapts to human or vampire surroundings, and vampire influence meets greater natural resistance than it does in an ordinary human. Later sources distinguish her vampire-created subclass from naturally born Dhampirs, but the terminology remains partly historical and does not invalidate the abilities she demonstrates. (Chapters 498, 511, 1036–1039, 1636, 1713, and 2322)
Around vampires, Erin's body identifies a natural enemy and raises her physical power to match the strength it detects. Yellow Dhampir energy can coat her body or weapons, interfere with vampire aura and healing, and project as waves, slashes, or a large expanding field. This advantage is species-specific rather than proof that she automatically exceeds every opponent: skill lets Leo dominate much of their duel despite feeding the response, while Quinn's mixed powers and equipment eventually defeat her. Her late attacks also affect some creations associated with Immortui, but the corpus does not establish that every demon is categorically vulnerable to Dhampir energy. (Chapters 715–716, 1038–1039, 1359, 1789, 1858–1860, 1934, and 1972–1977)
Killing vampires sates Erin's urge temporarily and advances her strength and evolution. The cost is compulsion: exposure to large numbers or powerful vampires intensifies thoughts of killing, and repeated hunts do not permanently remove them. Cursed chains suppress the impulse and Qi helps her resist their curse, but neither provides a cure; Leo's controlled hunts merely extend the interval between necessary kills. Erin can convert other Dhampirs in the manner later described for the race, though the supplied passages do not show the exact ritual or identify every follower she personally turns. (Chapters 1038–1039, 1079, 1124, 1185, 1359–1370, and 1636)
Qi and god-slayer progression
Erin begins Qi training under Pure and develops it extensively under Leo. First-stage reinforcement strengthens her body, second-stage coating protects her and her weapons, and third-stage release produces invisible strikes or reinforces projected yellow attacks. She uses Qi to resist the curse in her chains, slow damage that would otherwise heal poorly, and combine human discipline with Dhampir energy. Dragon Eyes helps her see and direct that energy, but large releases can leave her needing a breath and stronger condensed attacks can break through her broader waves. (Chapters 362–367, 705, 840–843, 1079, 1859, 1889, and 1972)
Her Dhampir development eventually includes Qi drain. By placing a hand on Zero's head after mortally wounding him, she extracts his life Qi and the reserve accumulated from hundreds of thousands of people he had drained. The resulting power greatly exceeds her previous supply and combines with her Dhampir energy, though the two are not always easy to release separately. On Erin's death, Quinn's system identifies the remaining crystal as a god-slayer crystal and transfers all of her Qi to him. This latest state is inheritance by Quinn, not evidence that Erin continues to use the power after death. (Chapters 1964 and 1972–1978)
Swordsmanship, chains, and demon-tier equipment
Erin receives family longsword training before the academy and remains dangerous with a blade after losing her ice. Leo adds katana technique, Qi timing, energy perception, and chain work; Erin then designs a twelve-movement dual system, with six movements explicitly developed in the reviewed source. She can change weapons to alter range and tempo, launch yellow sword aura, use chains for restraint and misdirection, and combine a close strike with external Qi. Raw power can make her abandon technique, however, and Leo exploits that tendency by defeating her attacks through control and positioning until he sacrifices his advantage to protect Silver. (Chapters 29, 365–367, 1079, 1185, 1243, and 1858–1860)
Her late arsenal is equipment-dependent. The blood katana supports her faster style, while the demon-tier greatsword switches between ice and flame and uses three rings for tunnel, wall, freezing, and related large-area techniques. Separate cooldowns on its ice and flame configurations let her sequence barriers and attacks, but each activation can be anticipated and a strong enough opponent can redirect, block, or overpower it. A custom suppressing sheath hides its energy outside combat. Demon-tier armour can phase her body through an attack when activated in time, but surprise is a counter, Zero suspects a cooldown, and Quinn's final assault destroys or exhausts it. (Chapters 1243, 1263–1264, 1858–1860, 1889, 1964, and 1972–1978)
Familiar kings
In the millennium era Erin is contracted with the four familiar kings, independent beings who protect her in exchange for access to her exceptional energy. Genbu supplies a hard shell and compact defence, Boneclaw teleports and attacks with its claws, Ovinnik uses black fire in cat form, and the horse-like familiar provides rapid movement; the group can act in response to lethal danger even when Erin does not perceive the attack. Their protection lets her survive Zero's carefully concealed betrayal and gives her multiple fronts during the battles with Laxmus and Quinn. (Chapters 1787–1789, 1964, and 1972–1977)
The familiars are neither Erin's transformations nor proof of four innate abilities. They can be damaged, defeated, or temporarily dispersed, and their contracts bind them to protect rather than make Erin invulnerable. Chapter 2344 explains that they chose Erin because her energy could support a plan for the familiar world and that they underwent a re-forming period after her death. Their actions during the memory-altered period follow the contract and do not by themselves establish knowledge of, or responsibility for, the alteration. (Chapters 1972–1977 and 2344)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Level-five ice ability | 4–7 | Begins as a trained longswordswoman able to create ice weapons, barriers, platforms, and movement paths from a finite MC reserve. |
| Ice ability stolen | 202–203 | Jack Truedream permanently removes her innate ice; later freezing techniques belong to her demon-tier sword. |
| Dhampir conversion | 498 | Quinn's blood ritual creates a sunlight-tolerant vampire-hunting subclass with regeneration and species-specific yellow energy. |
| Dragon Eyes | 705–706 | Chooses Leo's energy-sight ability, adding through-wall perception and advance reading of energy flow without guaranteeing reaction speed. |
| Three-stage Qi cultivation | 840–843 | Leo's training develops internal reinforcement, external coating, and later projected attacks that combine with Dhampir energy. |
| Zero's accumulated Qi absorbed | 1964 | Drains the mortally wounded Zero and the immense reserve he had taken from hundreds of thousands of people. |
| God-slayer crystal / death | 1977–1978 | Quinn kills her; the system identifies her remaining crystal as god-slayer-class and transfers all surviving Qi to him. |
Relationships
- Layla: Layla becomes Erin's closest academy friend, reveals Pure as a desperate refuge after Truedream steals Erin's ability, and continues trying to understand her after the Dhampir change. Erin later attacks her during the Red Vampire campaign, turning their friendship into one of the clearest costs of the altered-memory period without establishing what Erin consciously remembered about Layla at the time. (Chapters 129–210, 362–367, 1563, and 1778–1792)
- Leo: Leo helps Erin escape Pure, teaches her Qi, Dragon Eyes, and sword discipline, and manages her urge without treating her as a monster. Erin later kills him while claiming revenge for an unspecified wrong. The confirmed memory alteration explains why witnesses found her motive incoherent but does not reveal which memory of Leo had been replaced. (Chapters 365–367, 705–706, 1038–1079, 1185, 1857–1862, and 2344)
- Quinn Talen: Quinn first refuses to transform Erin while she is reacting to the theft of her ability, then grants her repeated request after the vampire rescue and unknowingly creates a Dhampir. He trusts her when Richard urges caution, later kills her to stop the Dhampir Queen, and inherits her Qi. Her final thanks drives his search for the manipulation behind her actions. (Chapters 208–210, 498, 1038–1039, and 1972–1978)
- Flora: Flora is Erin's principal Dhampir lieutenant and remains beside her after most of their army is destroyed. She supports the Pure alliance, understands that Erin expects Zero's betrayal, and survives as a witness to Erin's planning, but the reviewed passages do not establish when Flora learned of the memory alteration. (Chapters 1784, 1824, 1886–1892, and 1964)
- Zero: Erin does not meet Pure's leader during her first stay in the organization. More than a millennium later, she bargains with him from a weakened position, exchanges the Red Heart for shelter, and cooperates while both anticipate betrayal. Zero attacks first; Erin's familiar preparations reverse the ambush, and she kills him and drains his Qi. (Chapters 1824 and 1964)
- Jack Truedream: Jack forcibly steals Erin's ice because she lacks a powerful sponsor, precipitating her flight to Pure and her transformation quest. Long after her death, investigation confirms that her memories were altered before the attacks and connects the interference to Jack and Jim, though how they reached her and the precise content of their interference remain unknown. (Chapters 202–210, 1977, and 2344)
- Nicu: Nicu initially opposes Erin at the vampire school, where she defeats him without killing him and Quinn's group later rescues him. Erin kills him during her exile after the Dalki battle, illustrating the movement from controlled rivalry to lethal compulsion before the source reveals the wider manipulation. (Chapters 722, 755, and 1525)
- Richard Eno: Richard identifies Erin as a Dhampir and explains the subclass's vampire-killing growth and urge, but initially regards her as a threat that should be eliminated. Leo and Quinn reject immediate execution, and much later the Originals question whether Richard's inherited warnings accurately represented naturally born and vampire-created Dhampirs. (Chapters 1036–1039 and 2322)
Items
No personal item page is configured for Erin in the generated scope. Her suppression chains, blood katana, demon-tier ice-and-flame greatsword and sheath, demon-tier armour, and posthumous god-slayer crystal are therefore described as unlinked equipment or remains in this article rather than as catalog entries. (Chapters 1079, 1243, 1263–1264, 1889, and 1977–1978)
