Fors Wall

Fors Wall is a novelist, former physician, and the Tarot Club's Magician. She begins as a cautious low-Sequence Beyonder trying to free her closest friend, Xio Derecha, and to survive the lethal full-moon ravings attached to the Abraham family's Door pathway. The relationships she forms through the Club and with her teacher Dorian Gray Abraham turn that private problem into a responsibility: Fors becomes an Abraham demigod, a guide for Lumian Lee, and eventually a Planeswalker who protects humanity across worlds.

Biography

A reluctant Beyonder in Backlund

Fors first enters Audrey Hall's circle as the successful author of Stormwind Mountain Villa, but her immediate purpose is practical rather than literary. Xio has been jailed after using excessive force on a criminal, and Fors needs noble influence to secure her release. Although Fors can pass through barriers herself, she refuses a suicidal rescue that would not let Xio escape with her; instead, she offers Viscount Glaint and Audrey Hall access to Beyonder knowledge in exchange for lawful or political assistance. Her choice establishes the pattern beneath her lazy manner: she avoids needless danger but works persistently when a friend is at stake. (Chapters 107–113)

Fors had been a clinical doctor before becoming an Apprentice more than two years earlier. The bracelet that enabled her advancement also subjected her to Mr. Door's cries during full moons, when the ravings brought pain and the danger of losing control. She therefore seeks potion formulas not out of ambition but because The Fool explains that raising her life level can reduce the curse's immediate harm. Audrey's mysticism circle leads Fors and Xio into the Qilangos affair, and their information contributes to the pirate admiral's defeat; afterward, Audrey brings Fors into the Tarot Club as The Magician, giving her a protected source of knowledge, trade, and divine assistance that she could not have assembled alone. The Club does not erase Fors's fear or indolence, but it gives those traits a constructive direction. She buys the Trickmaster formula, joins a circus to practice the acting method, and reports her advancement to Dorian in the hope of earning both praise and guidance. She also serves as a dependable intermediary: she obtains Roselle diary pages, exchanges formulas and ingredients, and shares investigations with Xio while continuing to write for a living. The contrast between her everyday complaints and her steady preparation becomes central to her growth; Fors rarely seeks the most dangerous role, yet she repeatedly makes herself useful before danger arrives. Dorian's student and the Abraham inheritance

Dorian initially teaches Fors without fully revealing the Abraham family's condition. Fors repays that guarded trust through restraint and loyalty. When she recognizes one of the family's betrayers near her teacher, she follows their emergency signals rather than exposing him, and Dorian responds by giving her the Astrologer formula and Leymano's Travels. The spellbook greatly broadens her prepared combat options, but Dorian also teaches her its failure rates and dangerous side effect of causing the user to become lost. Fors treats the gift as a responsibility, not permission to challenge enemies beyond her level, and her refusal to betray Dorian gradually makes her the family's safest successor. Advancement makes Fors confront the meaning of “recording” and “traveling” rather than merely consuming potions. As a Sequence 6 Scribe, she must record both supernatural powers and the customs of different places; because she has only one stored use of Traveling, she asks The World to escort her on dangerous journeys and to demonstrate higher-level powers. This dependence is not passive. Fors identifies what she lacks, negotiates compensation, endures exhausting excursions, and uses the Tarot Club's stronger members as a carefully managed support network. She becomes a Sequence 5 Traveler before the war, gaining the mobility she once considered the ideal endpoint, but the approaching apocalypse and Mr. Door's curse deny her the option of remaining comfortably there. The hunt for Botis, an Abraham traitor and Aurora Order saint, ties Fors's personal loyalty to the Club's larger struggle. She provides the identification and participates in the plan while Cattleya and Xio carry much of the direct confrontation; Botis's death yields Door-pathway characteristics and artifacts without forcing Fors into a false claim of solitary vengeance. Dorian then prepares her Secrets Sorcerer ritual and ingredients. Fors seals a demigod creature in the Devil's Oil Painting, drinks the Sequence 4 potion despite the chance that Mr. Door's voice will overwhelm her, and survives to become the first trustworthy Abraham demigod Dorian has trained. She immediately reports the dangerous conversation that follows to The Fool, showing that advancement has deepened rather than displaced her caution. (Chapters 1172–1204 and 1293–1295)

After Mr. Door's return and defeat, the Abraham family gains the high-Sequence inheritance it had lacked for centuries. Fors does not seize it indiscriminately. Her first concern is the apocalyptic knowledge revealed through the Tarot Club and the duties attached to accepting the family's resources. Dorian and the surviving Abrahams offer formulas and characteristics because Fors has protected rather than exploited them; in return, she accepts the long responsibility of preserving their clan. This exchange moves her from beneficiary to guardian and prepares her eventual progress through Wanderer to Sequence 2 Planeswalker. (Chapters 1334–1355 and 1388–1391)

Mentoring Lumian and awakening The Fool

Years later, Fors acts as the Major Arcana sponsor of Lumian's Minor Arcana card. She supplies intelligence, assigns missions, answers what his Sequence can safely bear, and intervenes directly when spatial travel or angelic protection is required. Her guidance is deliberately incomplete at times: information about Outer Deities, the Fool's slumber, and high-level arrangements can itself corrupt a weaker Beyonder, so she distinguishes secrecy from neglect. As Lumian grows, she becomes more candid, explaining the five lucky coins, the attempt to enter The Fool's dream, the conditions preserving Aurore's soul fragments, and the limits of her own judgment. Her willingness to say “I don't know” prevents authority from becoming false certainty. (Chapters 1481, 1697, 1825–1828, and 2318–2321)

Fors also serves as an operational bridge among the Tarot Club, the Church of the Fool, the Abraham family, and Lumian's team. She transports people through starlight doors, obtains permissions and specialist aid, reinforces the seal protecting Aurore's fragments, and helps coordinate Project Vortex and the dream infiltration. These actions often look effortless from Lumian's perspective, but their consequence is structural: he can investigate across Trier, the spirit world, New Silver City, and the dream because Fors repeatedly converts scattered allies into a working network. Her old instinct to solve danger by finding the right person has matured into angel-level logistics and mentorship. (Chapters 1805–1833, 2160–2179, 2304–2337, and 2463–2534)

As a Sequence 2 Planeswalker, Fors could improve her chance of personal survival by remaining below Sequence 1 and escaping with a small group. Instead, when the apocalypse accelerates, she considers the Key of Stars advancement so she can protect the Abraham family and do more for humanity. The Fool warns that Sequence 1 would also make her a target, leaving the choice genuinely dangerous rather than an uncomplicated upgrade. During the final conflict she detects enemies approaching from space, creates viewing and transit structures of starlight, and moves allies across otherwise inaccessible distances. After the apocalypse, she is still traveling: she leads companions through an interplanetary door to Planet Lorbath, turning the journeys once required for potion digestion into continuing service and exploration. Appearance and personality

At twenty-three, Fors is about 1.65 meters tall, with slightly curly brown hair and pale-blue eyes. Audrey notices yellow traces from cigarettes on her fingers, calluses from writing, and more physical strength than her profession suggests. Fors dresses appropriately for Backlund literary society—on her introduction, a pale-yellow frilled dress—and later appears as Madam Magician in gowns or a deep-black warlock robe embroidered with silver stars. Her angelic manifestations and Door-pathway effects are repeatedly accompanied by brilliant or dreamlike starlight. (Chapters 107, 646, 1788, and 2497)

Fors is calm, observant, self-mocking, and famously averse to unnecessary work. Her complaints about cold, travel, deadlines, and danger are sincere, but they do not make her unreliable. A former doctor's familiarity with death steadies her during investigations, while a novelist's imagination helps her construct cover stories and the dream-city narratives used against the Celestial Worthy. Her strongest loyalties are quiet rather than theatrical: she protects Xio, worries about Dorian, refuses to misuse the Abraham inheritance, and takes responsibility for juniors whose assignments expose them to powers far above their level. Pathways and abilities

Fors follows the Door pathway from Sequence 9 Apprentice through Trickmaster, Astrologer, Scribe, Traveler, Secrets Sorcerer, and Wanderer to Sequence 2 Planeswalker. The pathway centers on crossing boundaries, reproducing encountered powers, manipulating and concealing space, and eventually moving through the spirit and astral worlds. Its freedom is paired with severe risks: the Abraham bloodline's full-moon ravings, recording failures against higher Sequences, disorientation from certain items, dangerous advancement rituals, and exposure to the cosmos. Doors, travel, and spatial control

As an Apprentice, Fors can make her body incorporeal enough to pass through doors and walls, though this does not automatically let companions follow. Traveler turns that local boundary-crossing into long-distance movement through the spirit world, but a stored or item-derived use can be consumed, leaving no route back. At demigod level, she can conceal an area in separated space, maintain secrecy against detection, and use Exile to cast a controlled target into dangerous spatial turbulence. Such effects are not absolute: a concealed region retains specific exits, Exile requires initial control and exposes the target to whatever exists in the intervening space, and stronger beings or damaged mystical environments can resist or distort travel. Wanderer and Planeswalker extend the same principle beyond the spirit world. A Wanderer can enter the cosmos and travel through the astral world to other planets; a Planeswalker can transform into symbolic form to use the astral world efficiently and can carry groups across interplanetary distances. Fors demonstrates this mature control by appearing through starlight, opening large transit doors, moving teams without visible transition, detecting an approach from space, and later guiding travelers to another inhabited planet. These powers make her one of the setting's most capable transporters, but the apocalypse still places her against entities able to seal routes, target Door authorities, or attack across worlds. Recording and prepared versatility

Sequence 6 Scribe grants Record, which copies a witnessed Beyonder power for one later use. The chance of success falls sharply when the target power exceeds the Scribe's level, and a recorded effect is weaker than its original; even after Fors has partially digested the potion, she can retain only a small number of godhood-level effects. This makes the ability strongest when she has advance access to powerful allies and can choose a balanced loadout. Fors deliberately records travel, summoning, defense, and demigod-level powers through the Tarot Club, using the preparation itself to digest her potion. She cannot treat Record as permanent mastery: each copy is expended, failed attempts waste opportunities, and a hostile demigod will not patiently repeat an ability. At higher Sequences, recording develops alongside her spatial authority. During the late dream operation, starlight gathers in Fors's eyes like a book, and her broader angelic knowledge lets her reproduce, analyze, or arrange phenomena far beyond a Scribe's early repertoire. The corpus demonstrates the improved scale but does not provide a complete inventory or numeric success rates for her Planeswalker state. Her effectiveness therefore still depends on correct preparation and interpretation, especially when confronting unfamiliar powers from the cosmos. (Chapters 2307, 2497, and 2523–2524)

Divination, concealment, and ritual knowledge

Trickmaster gives Fors a collection of small spells, including effects she uses for performance and concealment, while Astrologer strengthens divination and occult interpretation. She combines those stages with medical training and extensive mystical study rather than relying on raw force. Secrets Sorcerer then turns secrecy into a high-level spatial effect: Fors can prevent conversations from leaking, isolate areas, teleport, and create or use mystical doors. Her advancement ritual itself requires sealing a demigod creature, demonstrating that the pathway treats mastery of boundaries as both power and test. (Chapters 565–646, 955, 1293–1295, and 1391)

Fors is also an experienced ritualist and teacher. She recognizes spirit-world entities, constructs protections, communicates through messengers, and tailors explanations to the listener's ability to endure dangerous knowledge. This expertise has limits. She openly tells Lumian when a resurrection mechanism exceeds her certainty, relies on other Tarot Club specialists for domains outside Door authority, and treats prophecy or coincidence as evidence to investigate rather than automatic proof. • Xio Derecha: Fors's closest friend and long-term housemate. Fors first enters the main conflict to free Xio from jail, and their partnership grows into shared Tarot Club and apocalyptic work.
