Traveler's Bag

The Traveler's Bag is the name Klein Moretti gives to a palm-sized black pocket whose opening leads to a concealed region of the spirit world. The name is later used for similar bags made by Fors Wall, allowing Lumian Lee and Franca Roland to carry large stores of equipment in an object resembling a coin pouch.

History

Botis's interspatial pocket

Klein finds the first bag among Botis's remains. Divination establishes that the pocket is not itself a storage chamber but an entrance: a Secrets Sorcerer distorted and isolated part of the spirit world through Space Concealment, then fixed coordinates that allow the opening to reach it. The interior is roughly the size of the Moretti family's former two-bedroom apartment and initially contains gems and spiritual materials. Klein rejects the technical name “Interspatial Pocket” and calls it Traveler's Bag. It later enters Tarot Club circulation; Xio rents it to Audrey, who uses its capacity to move sacks of food during the war. (Chapters 1201 and 1221)

Bags for Lumian's team

After the Hostel operation, Magician personally makes separate Traveler's Bags for Lumian and Franca as rewards. Each looks able to hold only about two hundred coins but contains a space comparable to Apartment 601. Lumian immediately stores the full Pride Armor inside, and the bags thereafter hold weapons, ritual ingredients, food, evidence, clothing, and emergency supplies. Their mobility becomes especially valuable while the team travels with Ludwig and during the dream-city operation, where Franca can pass her bag and all conspicuous Beyonder equipment to Jenna before police arrive. By the latest scenes, the bags remain functional and distributed rather than consolidated under a single owner. Lumian continues drawing equipment from his bag through the late war, while Franca still carries hers after the apocalypse, including the Face of the Arcane. (Chapters 2513–2518 and 2611)

Abilities and properties

• The opening leads to an isolated spirit-world space. The original interior is about the size of a two-bedroom apartment; Magician's later versions are comparable to Apartment 601. Once part of an object enters the opening, the whole object can pass through despite its apparent size, provided it fits within the concealed space. (Chapters 1201 and 1927–1928)
• Living flesh with active vitality normally cannot be stored. The corpus does not establish the precise boundary for preserved bodies, spirits, or artificial life, so those cases remain uncertain. (Chapter 1928)
• Mystical items inside can still affect a carrier in the original design. Magician's version includes a seal that substantially suppresses negative effects and removes the need to relocate Beyonder characteristics regularly, but it does not state that every influence is eliminated absolutely. (Chapters 1201 and 1927)
• Space Concealment must be reinforced. Magician's bags require resealing about every six months; if they lapse into ordinariness before being emptied, their contents are lost into the spirit world and are nearly impossible to recover. Later dream-city interference can also shrink the available space. (Chapters 1201, 1927, and 2338)
