Biography

A young shadow under severe instruction

Yu Jitae orders Clone 1 to create a second Shadow of an Archduke from his remaining Level 5 artifact. The result is a boy of about fifteen who resembles a much younger Jitae but lacks his oppressive presence. Clone 2 awakens fearful and defensive, with an ego distinct from both his creator and senior. His lower-quality material leaves most of Jitae's dormant authorities beyond his reach, so Clone 1 immediately subjects him to punishing instruction meant to make him useful to the plan of protecting the dragons. Clone 2 initially accesses only about one percent of Jitae's power, yet his compulsory loyalty makes refusal almost unthinkable. He regenerates broken fingers, raises his weapon, and repeatedly resumes training even while questioning why growth must be so brutal. Beneath the bravado, he wants both Jitae's and Clone 1's acknowledgment. That desire shapes his first independent assignment: after taking two months to locate the retired Witch, Valentine, in the Southern Boreal Forest, he tries to negotiate for her dimensional magic without leaning on force that would only drive her away. (Chapters 149, 158, 190, 195)

The mission exposes both his inexperience and his developing resolve. Valentine's advances terrify him, but he first tries to settle the negotiation himself because he wants his superiors to recognize his competence. When her Death Knights corner him, he fights with roughly two percent of Jitae's power, defeats four of them, and continues bargaining after his hip is shattered. Bom then guides his speech and movements through Jitae's shared senses, helping him turn reciprocal requests into an agreement instead of becoming expendable bait. (Chapters 202–214)

For two weeks, Clone 2 withstands Valentine's attempts to seduce him while he and Bom listen to the lonely Witch's history. The sustained attention opens her heart and secures the unique dimensional assistance that Jitae needs. Although much of the successful diplomacy comes from Bom's direction, Clone 2 supplies the vulnerable body, refuses to surrender his boundaries, and persists through fear. By the mission's end he is no longer merely a new combat body: he has proven capable of carrying a delicate assignment that Jitae cannot solve through violence. (Chapters 213–216)

Care without a guiding voice

Clone 2 later takes Valentine to view the night sky of the dungeon's 291st floor, and she grants another request despite regretting that she cannot claim him. His more important test begins when Jitae cuts their mental connection and orders him to rehabilitate Ha Saetbyul independently. Clone 2 carries the exhausted survivor out of the underground labyrinth, treats himself as her first new acquaintance, and counters her fear of homelessness and unemployment with blunt practical action. The severed connection means his conduct must develop without moment-to-moment instruction. (Chapters 250, 266–267)

Over two weeks, he helps Saetbyul choose a small home, furnish it, and pursue work at an underfunded orphanage. Their disagreements become playful familiarity, and the end of the assignment leaves him unable to walk away as cleanly as duty demands. A farewell drink brings them close to a kiss, but both stop before crossing a boundary they are unsure about. His attachment becomes explicit when he later asks Jitae whether people who separate can ever meet again, a question that cannot be reduced to an operative's report. (Chapters 266, 314)

After arranging Saetbyul's life, Clone 2 guards the closing dimensional fissure to Anum, monitoring both its barriers and the hostile force advancing beyond it. Once Kaeul crosses over, he returns to Unit 301 in a secret-operations mask, distributes Authority Adaptors, and lets the other dragons share Jitae's sight of her struggle. He later escorts Valentine to the Association. These assignments show that his personal bond has not displaced his service, but it has given that service an emotional life independent of Jitae's immediate commands. (Chapters 307–310, 314, 318)

Loyalty tested in the World of Providence

Clone 2 next assists Jitae with Yeorum's restraint training. Ordered to pull and subdue her even when she begs for relief, he hesitates but obeys, relying on Jitae's blessings to survive her attacks without enabling her violence. He becomes visibly distressed by her suffering and by Jitae's wounds, and Jitae uses that response to identify emotions he cannot name in himself. The episode lays bare Clone 2's conflict: loyalty remains absolute, yet compassion increasingly affects how he experiences the orders he fulfils. (Chapters 340–342)

When the personality of Vintage Clock disappears, Jitae takes Clone 2 through the Safe toward the World of Providence and entrusts him with finding the white bird during Jitae's trial. Clone 2 promises success at any cost because Jitae says the mission leads toward his happiness. Separated from his lord, he enters a world interpreted by Conceptualisation, questions its inhabitants, respects the one-use limit on their covert communication, and pieces together contradictions about a locked clock tower and a visitor who knew the time. The discovery requires more than inherited strength. Clone 2 infers that the stopped hour hand prevents a cuckoo door from opening, climbs the tower in a near-human conceptual body, and uses his own body as a brace between its enormous moving hands. The mechanism dislocates and crushes him, but he endures until the clock reaches twelve and the hidden nest opens. His motive has grown beyond automatic loyalty: thinking of Saetbyul's departure and Jitae's solitude, he recognizes sympathy and personal commitment as reasons to continue. (Chapters 365–366)

Inside the nest, he finds the white bird murdered and receives its remaining records. Grief and fury nearly overwhelm him, yet he accepts that withholding the truth would betray his mission and transmits the discovery to Jitae, exposing the Judge responsible and changing the trial. Clone 2 remains behind until the bird's personality fully disappears. He then enters the Workshop's Rooftop and uses focused will to summon the memory-books Jitae had sealed, discovering hidden histories that shock his understanding of his lord and the dragons. His latest scene leaves him alive, loyal, and newly burdened with knowledge his creator had suppressed. (Chapters 367, 369, 372–373)

Appearance and personality

Clone 2 appears as a boy about fifteen years old who closely resembles a young Yu Jitae. Unlike the original's sharpened gaze and threatening atmosphere, his face is innocent enough that fear remains easy to read in his eyes. Other characters repeatedly call him small or cute; Yeorum notices his chubby cheeks, while Valentine treats his short-haired, youthful appearance as part of his appeal. During covert work he sometimes hides the resemblance beneath a black Association-style face mask. (Chapters 145, 195, 203–214, 310, 340)

He begins defensive, easily frightened, and prone to nervous politeness, but also proud enough to resist being dismissed as an inferior copy. He wants approval, complains under pressure, and then volunteers to shorten his rest or finish tasks alone. His comedy often comes from the gap between his bold words and visible panic. Even so, he protects his boundaries with Valentine, confronts danger when escape fails, and repeatedly chooses painful persistence once another person's welfare depends on him. The defining tension in his personality is the coexistence of compulsory loyalty and genuine independent feeling. A Shadow of an Archduke cannot place another priority above its lord, but Clone 2 develops concern for Yeorum, sympathy for Jitae, grief for the white bird, and affection for Saetbyul. These emotions do not break his service; they change its meaning. By the Providence mission, he is no longer acting solely because obedience is built into him, but because he personally believes that Jitae's suffering and relationships matter. Powers and abilities

Shadow of an Archduke

Clone 2 is created through Shadow of an Archduke (SS), using a Level 5 artifact as the material for a persistent body. The ability makes him a duplicate of Jitae with a separate ego and access to powers dormant within the copied structure. Loyalty to the owner is an unchangeable first priority, and he can dissolve back into the shadow, merge with Jitae, and later separate on command. Unlike ordinary copies, this Shadow can develop a personality, which is why its attachments and judgments become meaningful rather than being simple simulations. (Chapters 145, 149, 267, 361–362, 372)

The inferior artifact limits his initial output to about one percent of Jitae's power. Training raises demonstrated access to roughly two percent during the Southern Boreal Forest mission and approximately ten percent by Chapter 349. At that later point, Jitae estimates him as strong as BM and Valentine combined. These percentages describe access to the original's strength and authorities, not a separate formal rank. Inside the conceptual World of Providence his manifested body is instead close to human, so climbing and moving the clock's hands inflict genuine fatigue, dislocations, fractures, and pain. Shared authorities, blessings, and combat

Clone 2 can activate portions of Jitae's blessings and authorities. Body Recovery restores shattered or missing fingers during his earliest training, though the process remains painful. Defensive blessings prevent Yeorum's blows from passing through his body, while a dimensional opening supplies a longsword during combat. At two-percent output he trades destructive attacks with the Witch's Death Knights for twenty minutes and disables four, but an Over Class projectile still crushes his hip. His early limitations are therefore control, available output, experience, and the quality of his vessel rather than a complete absence of Jitae's techniques. (Chapters 149, 203, 212, 340)

For the Providence mission, Jitae pre-activates Conceptualisation (SS) in Clone 2's mind. It translates the abstract World of Providence into terrain, structures, clocks, and bodies that he can perceive and interact with. Clone 2 cannot simply override that world's logic: he must investigate its interpretation, infer why the hour hand stopped, and physically satisfy the clock's mechanism. He later uses the same principle that mana manifests will to call relevant memory-books from an immense conceptual library, demonstrating intelligent application rather than unrestricted control of the realm. Memory link and investigation

Clone 2 communicates mentally with Jitae and can receive selected memories, emotions, senses, and commands across distance. Jitae withholds memories that could destabilize the clone's personality, and communication can be intentionally severed, as during Saetbyul's reintegration. Bom exploits the link indirectly by synchronizing with Jitae and giving Clone 2 movements and language to mirror during the Valentine negotiation. Inside Providence, hostile observers reduce the channel to one safe contact, so Clone 2 must investigate independently and reserve transmission until he finds decisive evidence. His search work combines inherited knowledge, persistence, and deduction. He locates Valentine after two months in an SS+-class isolated dungeon, tracks the clock tower's contradictory visitor accounts, and realizes that a person claiming not to understand time could only know twelve o'clock by hearing its alarm. This leads him to the hidden cuckoo entrance and the white bird's records. The ability to search is effective but not instantaneous: incomplete information stalls him, emotional disturbance destabilizes Conceptualisation, and his conclusions still require dangerous physical verification. Relationships

Yu Jitae

Jitae is Clone 2's creator, power source, commander, and original model. Clone 2's loyalty to him is structural, but his understanding grows beyond obedience as shared memories expose Jitae's loneliness. He seeks Jitae's approval, accepts assignments that may destroy his body, and ultimately defines the white-bird mission as something he wants to accomplish for a person he pities and values. The sealed memories discovered afterward complicate that devotion without showing it broken. (Chapters 145, 149, 195, 213, 314, 361–373)

Clone 1

Clone 1 is his creator, senior, instructor, and harshest early evaluator. She considers his material and will inferior, pushes him through regenerative training, and teaches that both clones exist for the dragons' happiness. Clone 2 complains and calls her an old woman, yet wants her recognition and follows her operational cautions. Her description of the clones as experimental subjects later prompts him to question why their personalities exist and what Jitae intends to learn from them. (Chapters 145, 149, 195, 203, 372)

Ha Saetbyul

Saetbyul is the first person Clone 2 cares for while his live mental connection to Jitae is deliberately cut. Their early exchanges are blunt and argumentative, but he helps her secure a home, work, and new relationships while she makes him confront attachment and separation. They stop short of beginning a physical relationship, yet her question about meeting again remains with him during the clock-tower ordeal. The bond is the clearest evidence that his emotional choices are becoming his own. (Chapters 250, 266–267, 314, 366)

Valentine and Bom

Valentine is both the dangerous target of Clone 2's first major negotiation and a recurring ally who finds him irresistibly young and cute. His fear, refusal, and willingness to listen eventually turn her predatory curiosity into cooperation. Bom supplies the interpersonal judgment he lacks by guiding his responses through the memory link, making their combined performance the reason the negotiation succeeds. Clone 2 later takes Valentine to the dungeon's night sky and escorts her back to the Association. (Chapters 195, 202–216, 250, 318)

Yeorum and the white bird

Yeorum's restraint training reveals Clone 2's compassion under command: he obeys Jitae's painful instructions, but repeatedly hesitates, worries over both participants, and leaves in a gloomy state. The white bird affects him even more deeply because Jitae's inherited memories make its long companionship feel personally significant. Finding it dead drives him to tears and rage, yet he chooses to communicate the truth and remain for its final disappearance. (Chapters 340–341, 365–367, 372)

Items

Authority Adaptor

After the Anum fissure no longer needs guarding, Clone 2 brings Authority Adaptors to Unit 301. He distributes the bracelets to Bom, Yeorum, and Gyeoul so that Jitae can operate like an authority toward their wearers and share his sight of Kaeul in Anum. Clone 2 acts as courier and facilitator rather than the source of the artifact's power. (Chapter 310)

Safe

The Safe is Oscar Brzenk's Level 6 artifact and not Clone 2's possession. Jitae uses the compromised artifact as an entrance to the Temple of Providence, first returning Clone 2 to shadow form so both are carried inside the same flow. Clone 2 separates at Jitae's signal and escapes toward the World of Providence, making the Safe the gateway through which his white-bird mission begins. (Chapters 361–362)
