The Safe is Oscar Brzenk's four-metre silver armoury, the only known Level 6 artifact on Earth and a concealed gateway into a trap in the Temple of Providence.

History

The armoury beneath Branch 17

Oscar hides his greatest armoury at the Association's remote seventeenth branch in northern Africa. When its door opens unexpectedly, Yu Jitae orders Kang Ahjin to secure access and advances despite the branch's resistance. Underground, he finds the massive cube newly weighted into the floor, its keeper dead, and signs that a nonhuman force has entered it. (Chapters 358–361)

A doorway prepared as a trap

Yu Jitae recognizes that the Safe is more than storage: Providence's Judges are using its connection to their Temple to draw him inside. Because knowledge of its Level 6 nature and destination is exceptionally rare, the trap is tailored to his regressions. He nevertheless opens the doors after preparing Clone 2, confronting the brilliant spatial passage on his own terms rather than entering unaware. (Chapter 361)
