Li Daoyi
Li Daoyi is the secretive Li Clan's Dao Child and Meng Hao's principal rival during the eighth Blood Immortal Legacy tournament. A clan prophecy, an ancestor hidden inside the trial, and extensive preparation convince him the inheritance is already his; losing it turns that certainty into a feud that ends at the Rebirth Cave.
Biography
The prophesied Legacy
The Li Clan sends Li Daoyi with two other Chosen and two Nascent Soul Dao Protectors. Before the tournament begins, the tall protector tells him that the clan patriarch foresaw the eighth Legacy falling into Li hands. The other juniors are ordered only to observe, making Li Daoyi the expedition's unquestioned center. He receives a Blood Dragon and advances quickly enough to lead the competitors through the early matrices. (Chapters 120–128)
The prophecy is backed by concealed intervention. Inside the sixth matrix, Li Daoyi meets a previous Li Clan Chosen who left most of his spirit in the Blood Slave four thousand years earlier. Li Daoyi asks this ancestor to kill rival Dao Child Wang Lihai, then allows the spirit to enter his Blood Dragon. The possessed Divinity devours other Blood creatures and promises to carry him rapidly through the final tests. Li Daoyi also taunts Meng Hao with the apparent death of the Blood Mastiff, turning competition over the inheritance into a personal killing feud. (Chapters 129–132)
Battle at the mask
Li Daoyi reaches the final altar first, but the Legacy mask rejects direct possession until it receives a Weapon Spirit. His Blood Dragon enters the mask at the same time Meng Hao's revived mastiff attacks it. The two Divinities struggle for control while their masters fight outside; whichever creature wins will become the mask's spirit and determine the Legacy's owner. (Chapter 133)
Li Daoyi uses a golden war chariot, four-colored fan, and eighteen exploding black pearls. The pearls accelerate the collapse of the entire Legacy zone, reflecting his willingness to destroy the trial before conceding it. Meng Hao answers by attacking the only exit. Li Daoyi initially claims he is more ruthless and helps reduce the doorway, but his calculation changes when death becomes immediate. He decides his future as Dao Child is worth more than the Legacy or the stranded ancestor. (Chapters 133–134)
Li Daoyi turns into a blood-shadow and escapes while trying to detonate another ten pearls behind him. Meng Hao uses the newly comprehended Eighth Hex to freeze him in the doorway and cuts off his right arm before he can withdraw it. Because the Blood Dragon's power depends upon its registered competitor remaining in the trial, Li Daoyi's departure weakens the occupying ancestor and lets the mastiff take control of the mask. The choice that saves Li Daoyi's life directly destroys the destiny his clan declared certain. (Chapter 134)
Resentment and Core Formation
Li Daoyi later attends the Song Clan gathering with his restored arm and openly directs killing intent toward Meng Hao. He joins the World Tree trial, studies its nine conventional paths, and sees Meng Hao create a tenth by rejecting the test's assumptions. Rather than reassessing the old feud, Li Daoyi responds with an even stronger desire to fight. (Chapters 189–199)
He eventually advances to Core Formation and enters Choumen Tai's corpse-realm with the Southern Domain Chosen. When Meng Hao receives the ancient Immortal opportunity and begins forming his Violet Core, Li Daoyi tries to interfere and seize the fortune. Xu Qing repeatedly restrains him, and he learns that she has held back enough power that a full attack could have killed him. (Chapters 264–303)
Ji Hongdong's arrival changes Li Daoyi's motive from rivalry to opportunistic alliance. He assists the Ji heir and asks permission to take Xu Qing away for revenge. When Meng Hao's Core Formation breakthrough reveals that Grandmaster Fang Mu and Meng Hao are the same person, Li Daoyi immediately recalls the loss of his arm and understands that his old enemy has advanced again. Meng Hao feints toward Ji Hongdong, closes on Li Daoyi, and kills him with one palm to the forehead. (Chapter 304)
The Li Clan retrieves the image of Meng Hao stored in Li Daoyi's dying eyes. His death therefore exposes Fang Mu's identity and helps force Meng Hao to abandon his position in the Violet Fate Sect. Li Daoyi loses the immediate fight, but the clan's death-recording technique ensures that the consequences extend beyond his body. (Chapter 305)
Appearance and personality
Li Daoyi is handsome and wears long yellow robes. His restored right arm conceals the physical result of the Legacy defeat, but the humiliation remains central to his later behavior.
He is arrogant, cruel, competitive, and willing to use murder to secure clan advantage. His rank was reportedly won through slaughter after rising from an unremarkable Li branch, so entitlement coexists with genuine personal ruthlessness. Yet his retreat from the collapsing Legacy shows that he values survival over prophecy when the choice is unavoidable. His deeper failure is not fleeing; it is refusing afterward to learn why the plan failed.
Abilities and cultivation
Dao Child cultivation
Li Daoyi enters at late Foundation Establishment with strength above ordinary Chosen and later reaches Core Formation. He can survive direct exchanges with Meng Hao's three Perfect Dao Pillars and contest other Southern Domain elites. Realm and title provide substantial force, but neither compensates for Meng Hao's perfect foundation or later exceptional Violet Core. (Chapters 120–134 and 264–304)
Blood Dragon Divinity
His Blood Divinity begins as a rare dragon capable of rapid growth through the Legacy matrices. The ancient Li Clan patriarch possesses it, enlarges it, and lets it devour rival Blood Divinities. Inside the mask it competes to become Weapon Spirit, but its link to Li Daoyi is also its decisive limit: when he leaves the trial, the dragon's red radiance weakens and the mastiff gains control. (Chapters 121 and 129–134)
Four-colored fan and swords
A fan projects four colors that separate into four attacking swords. The formation counters Meng Hao's flame dragon and wind blade, giving Li Daoyi simultaneous elemental defense and multi-directional offense. It cannot settle the battle before the Legacy zone collapses. (Chapter 133)
Exploding black pearls
Li Daoyi deploys eighteen pearls during the altar battle and prepares another ten at the exit. Their explosions create spatial distortions strong enough to accelerate the destruction of the Legacy world and damage its doorway. They are consumable, indiscriminate weapons: using them risks burying Li Daoyi and the desired inheritance together with his enemy. (Chapters 133–134)
Golden war chariot and blood-shadow escape
The war chariot strikes with enough force to make both Li Daoyi and Meng Hao cough blood after their collision. When escape becomes necessary, Li Daoyi spits blood over himself and transforms into an expanding bloody shadow to cross the failing doorway rapidly. The Eighth Hex can still freeze the escape long enough for Meng Hao to sever his arm. (Chapters 133–134)
Clan preparation and death record
Li Clan knowledge lets him exploit the possessed sixth-matrix Blood Slave and plan routes through the final trials. After death, a clan jade reveals the face reflected in his pupils at the killing moment. This is a clan safeguard rather than Li Daoyi's conscious final technique, but it ensures his killer cannot remain anonymous. (Chapters 120–134 and 305)
