Grandmaster Eternal Mountain
Grandmaster Eternal Mountain is one of the Southern Domain’s three alchemy Grandmasters, a former East Pill disciple who established an independent path in the Golden Frost Sect.
Biography
Return to the East Pill Division
Eternal Mountain returns to the Violet Fate Sect for the first time in four hundred years as part of a Golden Frost Sect delegation. He had once studied under Grandmaster Pill Demon, but left the East Pill Division with his master’s permission and established an independent school of alchemy. His long absence gives the visit the appearance of a reunion between famous alchemists; in private, however, his real objective is to determine the identity and ability of the newly famous Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. (Chapters 236–237)
The uncrushable-pill challenge
To draw out the hidden grandmaster without openly accusing anyone, Eternal Mountain turns Li Fugui’s extraordinarily hard teeth into an alchemy challenge. He offers an ancient Entrancement Pill as the prize if any East Pill alchemist can concoct a medicinal pill that Fatty cannot crush. Conventional efforts fail because they focus only on hardness. Meng Hao, then living as Fang Mu, instead designs a pill that combines physical resilience with an intensely spicy reaction. The pill survives the bite long enough for its contents to overwhelm Fatty’s mouth, satisfying the challenge through inventive pill design rather than brute durability. (Chapters 238–240)
Eternal Mountain honors the wager when Meng Hao succeeds. He asks to inspect the pill, but does not use his status to force the issue when Meng Hao refuses. His response is competitive yet disciplined: he recognizes that the solution reflects both technical control and an unconventional understanding of how a pill’s effects can serve its intended purpose. (Chapter 240)
Recognizing Grandmaster Pill Cauldron
After leaving the sect, Eternal Mountain tells Tang Shicang that Fang Mu must be Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. The conclusion comes from the method and insight displayed during the challenge, not from possessing or analyzing the earlier Bedevilment Pill. He also understands the strategic danger of exposing a young alchemist who has demonstrated mastery of both medicine and poison. Eternal Mountain therefore orders that the identity remain secret and reflects on whether Meng Hao may eventually become another disciple to leave Pill Demon’s school and establish an independent path. (Chapter 241)
Appearance and personality
Eternal Mountain appears ancient and wise, and speaks in an archaic voice suited to his age and reputation. He carries the serene confidence of an alchemy Grandmaster who does not need to insist on his own prestige. His challenge shows a competitive streak, but not pettiness: he accepts an unexpected solution, pays the promised reward, and respects Meng Hao’s refusal to surrender the winning pill. His decision to conceal Meng Hao’s identity also reveals professional judgment and a lingering concern for the East Pill lineage from which he came.
Abilities and cultivation
Grandmaster alchemy
Eternal Mountain is recognized as one of the Southern Domain’s three alchemy Grandmasters. That rank represents expertise in medicinal-plant properties, pill formulas, refinement methods, and the interpretation of another alchemist’s work. His challenge is itself an exercise in formulation: it tests whether an alchemist can translate an unusual practical requirement into a functioning medicinal pill.
Alchemical appraisal
He can infer an alchemist’s level and identity from technique and design choices rather than relying only on a finished pill’s outward appearance. Meng Hao’s solution to the biting challenge gives him enough evidence to connect Fang Mu with Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. This is expert judgment, not supernatural certainty; Eternal Mountain first creates a controlled test and bases his conclusion on the result.
Medicine and poison knowledge
Eternal Mountain explicitly recognizes the importance of an alchemist who can work with both medicinal and poisonous effects. The distinction matters because the same knowledge of ingredients, interactions, and dosage can be applied to healing, cultivation support, or harm. The supplied chapters establish his deep understanding of that dual discipline, but do not show him personally using poison in combat.
Limits of the supplied evidence
The local corpus identifies Eternal Mountain as a master alchemist, but these appearances do not provide a named cultivation realm or demonstrate a combat technique. His abilities should therefore be read as professional alchemy expertise rather than an unsupported measure of battle strength.
