Tang Shicang
Tang Shicang is one of the Golden Frost Sect’s two Dharma Protectors and the senior escort for Grandmaster Eternal Mountain’s return to the Violet Fate Sect. His importance lies less in direct combat than in safeguarding a politically sensitive alchemy mission and accepting the need to protect Grandmaster Pill Cauldron’s identity.
Biography
Golden Frost delegation
Tang arrives at the Violet Fate Sect with Eternal Mountain, another Dharma Protector, eight Nascent Soul elders, and a large Golden Frost delegation. His mid Nascent Soul cultivation grants him entry to the restricted mountaintop reception. He exchanges formal pleasantries with Wu Dingqiu but declines to reveal the Grandmaster’s true purpose, preserving his principal’s control over the visit. (Chapter 237)
The public explanation concerns Eternal Mountain’s return to his former East Pill home, while the actual objective is to investigate the mysterious Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. Tang’s restraint keeps that inquiry from becoming a challenge before Eternal Mountain chooses the setting and stakes.
Pill-crushing wager
Tang remains with the Golden Frost side during the wager that no East Pill alchemist can produce a medicinal pill Fatty cannot crush. He watches Fatty defeat established attempts through the unusual strength of his teeth and then sees Fang Mu present a resilient, painfully spicy pill that reverses the contest. Tang does not interfere when Eternal Mountain honors the wager and surrenders the ancient Entrancement Pill. (Chapters 238–240)
On the departing airship, Tang asks why so valuable a treasure was given up with such ease. The question prompts Eternal Mountain to explain that the Entrancement Pill was always a pretext and that Fang Mu is almost certainly Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. Tang is astonished because the young apprentice’s apparent rank does not match the creator of the Bedevilment Pill. (Chapter 241)
Eternal Mountain then warns that exposing the identity would gain the Golden Frost Sect nothing and could provoke a grandmaster of both pills and poison. Tang accepts the instruction. His arc therefore ends not with a battle, but with a change in mission: the escort who came to investigate leaves responsible for keeping the result secret.
Appearance and personality
Tang appears middle-aged despite having cultivated for more than seven hundred years. He is diplomatic, observant, and respectful without being unquestioning. He waits until the delegation is safely away before asking Eternal Mountain about the wager, showing that curiosity is subordinate to public unity and protocol.

Tang’s confirmed realm is the middle Nascent Soul stage. This makes him one of the delegation’s highest-ranking protectors and qualifies him for a reception closed to ordinary members. No direct duel or named magical technique is shown, so the page does not invent an offensive specialty.
