Ruyue

Ruyue is the unique ice elemental known as the Daughter of Ice and Snow and one of Kang Shin's four principal elemental partners. Rescued from a seal in a state of madness, she becomes his mount, close companion, and foremost elemental defender, developing from localized freezing and weapon infusion to independent battlefield control and barriers capable of contesting attacks from world enemies. Biography

Awakening and the First Dungeon

A flash-forward first names Ruyue among the four elementals accompanying Shin, but her chronological story begins when he encounters her in a hidden frozen space while searching for Peika. At that time, she is a fully materialized silver wolf larger than a human, identified as both the core of the seal and a “crazed elemental.” A prior Fairy Garden Elementalist had tried to bind her against her will; after the attempt drove her mad, he abandoned and sealed her. The corpus does not identify that Elementalist more precisely or establish Ruyue's life before the failed contract, so her deeper origin as the Daughter of Ice and Snow remains unknown. Rather than destroying her, Shin fights through the cold and uses the surrounding ice elementals and Peika to suppress her. He then approaches, places a hand on her head despite her earlier attacks, and calms her until the red aura leaves her eyes. Ruyue remembers her name and accepts his offer of a contract so they can escape together. The bond increases Shin's ice affinity and resistance, while Ruyue closes her eyes and returns his embrace. Field Dungeons and Revival

Ruyue quickly becomes more than an element added to Shin's attacks. Her wolf body serves as a fast dungeon mount, and she can cancel materialization at a critical instant so that he can attack through the space she occupied without injuring her. Outside formal combat she cleans him with elemental power, hides playfully behind his head after teasing Ye-Eun, and accepts frequent petting. Shin deliberately summons and touches her because communication, intimacy, and material contact make contracted elementals grow; this gives their affection a mechanical consequence without reducing it to mere training. Her early combat role balances mobility, control, and combination attacks. Infused into Shin's crossbow, Ruyue adds ice to bolts that strike targets already paralyzed by Peika's lightning. Materialized separately, she freezes a fleeing enemy's feet and lets ice climb to his waist, creates safe footing over a lake, and fixes Shin's boots to a Giant Wolf so that he cannot be thrown off. She can also save him without awaiting a detailed order, as when she instantly freezes the water beneath him after he is startled. As Shin enters larger raids and Beyond, Ruyue's defensive importance increases. Her ice-crystal whirlwind shields him from the Flame Drake's mana-driven water barrage, and her ability makes frozen dungeon floors far easier to cross. Protection still requires judgment: Shin dematerializes her when a Giant Wolf is about to swallow her and keeps her dismissed in a corridor where his ricocheting bolts could strike her. Ruyue is a spiritual being capable of changing form, but she can still be endangered while materialized. The partnership therefore depends on Shin withdrawing her as carefully as he deploys her. Guardians and World Enemies

During Revival's world-scale campaigns, Ruyue increasingly fights in a materialized body against large groups instead of remaining inside Shin's weapon. Independent action expands the number of enemies she can restrain or kill, but it consumes his mana continuously even while Peruta Circuit is replenishing it. Against the EX-rank Lava King, she anticipates the decisive breath and raises a thick ice barrier; Sharana reinforces it, yet the flames still destroy the wall and only reach Shin in a weakened state. The failure defines the proper scale of her defense: barriers can buy survival against a superior attack without necessarily stopping it. (Chapters 221, 225, and 230)

Her materialization also grows more flexible and more ambitious. Ruyue assumes a human form underwater, where Peika's lightning would endanger allies, and breaks monsters that Plene has petrified. In Antarctica she appears in a beastgirl form, welcomes the cold that makes the other companions uncomfortable, and takes responsibility for receiving attacks while Shin and Peika provide offense. When Shin supplies about 200,000 mana and Sharana adds wind control, Ruyue freezes the ocean into a land-like vessel roughly one to one and a half kilometers across and several meters thick. Ruyue develops notable autonomy under pressure. She launches ice spears at the Death Knight without waiting for a verbal command, notices black needles rising beneath Shin, and forms an ice bed before they can fully reach him. She later blocks a barrage of magic bullets with a transparent wall, deliberately shatters it, freezes the clouds above the enemy, and dematerializes so that the unsupported ice falls as a mass attack. She also encases Shin's armor in ice on her own when an enemy attacks his blind side. By the later dungeon floors, Ruyue's powers operate as part of a practiced elemental formation. She and Peika hold back a wave of blood long enough for Shin to reposition, then rest when the immediate task is complete. Against Succubus Queens, her ice blocks attribute magic, with Sharana available if more reinforcement is needed. The pattern shows a mature defensive specialist rather than an unlimited answer: Shin selects Ruyue when elemental walls or terrain are appropriate, combines her with complementary partners, and dismisses her before expenditure or opposing power overwhelms the benefit. Final Wave and the Dungeon's End

In Beyond's late stages, Ruyue can be infused directly into Shin's armor while Peika occupies his spear, Sharana his body, and Dortu supports separately; unlike the First Dungeon, Beyond permits all four to be active together. This lets her add ice defense without displacing the other elementals' functions. The arrangement remains vulnerable to extreme force. Her barrier can withstand only about one strike from Lilith's statues, and a wall raised against the Death Lord vanishes under black whips and aura waves, though it lasts long enough for Shin to finish gathering power for his counterattack. Ruyue's bond with Shin is flexible enough to support another fighter temporarily. He “lends” her to Su Ye-Eun during a mass battle, and Ruyue forms a sequence of ice footholds that lets Ye-Eun race through the air and break the demons' formation. The scene demonstrates cooperative deployment, not a transfer of Ruyue's contract: she continues as Shin's elemental afterward. Against the hidden dragon, Shin chooses Ruyue over the lightning support he would prefer because surviving dragon breath is the greater need. Even their combined power cannot intercept every projectile or withstand concentrated acidic rain. Ruyue then joins all four elementals in the Demon Lord battle, where Shin operates her ice together with Dortu's metal against stronger mana bullets. Ruyue remains active after Sherafina's defeat and the restoration of the dungeon. Peika explains that elementals are incomplete by nature and become complete by meeting a master and forming a contract, explicitly including Ruyue among those whose bonds achieved that completion. This statement gives later meaning to the forgotten, maddened wolf in the seal: the contract did not merely grant Shin cold resistance, but allowed Ruyue to recover identity, develop multiple forms, and act as a trusted individual through the end of the conflict. Appearance and personality

Ruyue's original materialized form is a silver wolf with a body larger than a human's, a mane that shines silver, prominent teeth, and eyes initially covered by crimson madness. After Shin calms her, the red disappears and her eyes become light blue like a winter sky. Her soft fur makes physical affection a recurring part of her bond with him. She later materializes in both human and beastgirl forms, but the supplied corpus does not give those forms the same detailed hair, clothing, or facial description, so their exact appearance is unknown. She is affectionate, playful, and eager for contact, but also attentive and protective. Ruyue is a unique, materialized ice elemental. Her contract lets her exist independently, merge into Shin or his equipment, and channel cold through weapons, armor, terrain, or her own body. Her applications range from precise restraint to kilometer-scale ice construction, while her practical limits are Shin's available mana, the danger to her materialized form, and attacks powerful enough to melt, pierce, or shatter her ice. Elemental contract and materialization

Ruyue forms her contract after recovering her name in the frozen sealed space. The system identifies her as a unique ice elemental who is already materialized and grants Shin greatly increased affinity and resistance to ice. Freezing and battlefield control

At close range, Ruyue can freeze water instantly, immobilize feet against the ground, let ice climb a target's body, or bind Shin's boots to a moving enemy. She can project ice spears and balls, form elevated footholds, freeze clouds across a battle area, and create stable paths or platforms over open water. These effects support capture, travel, aerial mobility, defense, and attack rather than serving as a single named spell. The mechanism beyond elemental ice control is not separately explained. Her greatest construction feat uses the ocean itself. With approximately 200,000 mana from Shin and Sharana's assistance, she forms an extremely firm ice sheet about one kilometer in diameter, then enlarges it to roughly 1.5 kilometers and four to five meters thick. Its size cannot be treated as effortless personal output: Shin is actively gathering and pouring in mana, and Sharana pilots and reinforces the structure while Ruyue freezes water to enlarge and harden it. Ruyue's signature specialty is rapid ice defense. She produces whirlwinds, transparent walls, armor coatings, beds beneath hazards, and thousands of petal-like layers. These can block volleys, catch attacks Shin has not seen, shield him from environmental barrages, or deliberately break into a second-stage attack. Her autonomy matters as much as raw strength: she often notices a threat and positions ice before Shin can issue a detailed instruction. (Chapters 133, 262, 271, 280, 299, and 338)

The barriers mitigate rather than nullify top-tier attacks. Sharana-reinforced ice weakens the Lava King's EX-rank flames but breaks; Lespina's demonic energy destroys a wall instantly; Lilith's statues can remove one in a single blow; and the hidden dragon's fireballs and acidic rain overwhelm thousands of layers even with wind reinforcement. Against the Death Lord and Demon Lord, Ruyue's defenses still buy essential charging time or reduce incoming fire.
