Ultris

Ultris is the First Heavenbreaker, a prince formerly taught by Hades, and the creator of the Origin Trait, Traits, and the Path of Awakeners. He repeatedly loops the Elemental Cosmos to evade Apollyon, later works with Julie de Beaufort, and survives the ending after his death and temporary use as a necromantic puppet.

Biography

Prince, student, and originator of Traits

Ultris begins as a gifted but lazy prince of the Iltanea Empire. Hades chooses him as a student because he needs someone capable of leading the next generation if the older powers fail, and rivalry surrounding Persephone helps turn the prince's unused talent into effort. Their bond predates the main conflict and places Ultris's later innovations within Hades's search for an alternative to simply destroying everything corrupted by Apollyon's influence. (Chapter 821)

Ultris later reaches the True World and seeks admission to the Heavenly Sect, but his lack of a Spirit Root leads to rejection. He deceives a cultivator into giving him a cultivation method and escapes the ensuing pursuit. Using what he learns, he develops the Origin Trait, Traits, and the Path of Awakeners—also called the Path of Evolution—so mortals can advance without first becoming Gods. He creates Traits in another universe to avoid violating his own World's law, then spreads them through his descendants. (Chapters 508, 585, 605, 613, 615, and 799–800)

Time loops, Apollyon, and fused lives

After leaving the True Blessed Lands, Ultris knows Apollyon is hunting him and uses repeated Cosmos-wide time loops as concealment. He removes nearly all of his own memories at the start of each loop, builds a different identity and history, and forms new relationships without remembering the previous lives. The strategy buys time for growth and makes Fate harder to trace, but it also drives Apollyon to become the Fate Supreme specifically to locate him. (Chapters 807 and 826–827)

Ultris eventually reaches peak Third Step and prepares for the Fourth before Apollyon finds him. Their battle costs Apollyon his eyes and forces him toward the Forbidden Lands, but Ultris loses his Cosmos and is crippled. The damage to the River of Time fuses the loop histories, bringing their memories, wives, and children into one continuity. Each loop's amnesiac Ultris had loved one wife; the resulting family is not evidence that one continuously remembering man maintained all those relationships at once. Void, Julie, and the Devil of Cruelty plan

The weakened Ultris eventually appears beside Julie, and his presence is enough to make Veydran withdraw rather than fight them together. The pair has prepared ordeals meant to awaken Amelia as the Devil of Cruelty. Their plan rests on a previous-Eon document saying Cruelty defeats Order; they interpret Order as Apollyon, while later evidence corrects it to the Cosmos itself. Neo's interventions disrupt the sequence and leave him with part of Cruelty's Fate. (Chapters 689–690, 802–805, and 825)

Ultris also resolves the history behind the name Void. Severant once divided his stubbornly opposed intentions into two beings. One part remained with Hades, became the Void Supreme, and died in that struggle; the surviving part continued as Ultris and later approached Neo under the name Void. He acknowledges responsibility for the cruel awakening plan and ultimately apologizes. The Universal Will's claim that he used the only method he saw available explains his pressure without erasing the suffering he chose to arrange. (Chapters 781–783)

Last stand, death, and restoration

When the Eternals and Apollyon converge, Ultris creates an opening for Julie to send Neo toward the True Blessed Lands. He moves an entire universe with a finger, halts the Conquerors in time, and transfers the remaining fragments connected to Persephone and his sister, together with Hades's Life Flame, to Neo. He warns Neo about the curse, asks him to carry a message, and stays behind to fight after apologizing for what his plans inflicted. (Chapters 782–783)

Shadow Supreme Zarek then spends the Entity's favor to borrow a single true attack and kill Ultris. Before dying, Ultris has arranged for Paul to pass a wooden token to Neo; the object had hidden Ultris from Apollyon's Fate when he was weak and now protects its new bearer. Zarek later animates Ultris's corpse, but Neo and Beelzebub break that control and restore Ultris to life before Neo leaves the Cosmos. (Chapters 787, 807, and 831–833)

Appearance and personality

Ultris is a very large man with a massive frame and wild hair compared to a mane. His size makes his otherwise relaxed beach appearance conspicuous when Neo first meets him directly beside Julie. Even after being crippled, the combination of his physical presence, history, and remaining power is sufficiently intimidating that Veydran avoids a two-against-one confrontation. (Chapters 689–690 and 781)

As a prince, Ultris is talented but habitually lazy until rivalry and Hades's instruction motivate him. In later life he is shrewd, irreverent, and willing to use deception: he steals cultivation knowledge after being rejected, reverses the naming of Awakener grades deliberately, and hides from Fate through identities that even he cannot remember. These traits make him inventive and difficult to predict, but also willing to impose vast consequences on others. (Chapters 615, 799–800, and 821)

Ultris is not portrayed as cruel for its own sake. He loves the families formed in his separate loops, protects Julie, and sacrifices himself to give Neo a chance. At the same time, he participates in engineering trauma around Amelia because he believes the Devil of Cruelty is the necessary weapon. His apology recognizes that necessity as he saw it does not absolve the victims, leaving him a remorseful strategist rather than either a simple benefactor or an unrepentant monster. Powers and limitations

Traits and the Path of Evolution

Ultris creates the Origin Trait and derives Traits and the Path of Awakeners from it. The system lets mortals cultivate ranked power without taking the older route of first becoming Gods, and its inheritance spreads the Path across races through his descendants. Ultris himself calls it a crutch, not an automatically superior route. Its reversed grade terminology is a deliberate choice by its creator rather than evidence that the order was copied incorrectly. (Chapters 508, 585, 605, 613, and 615)

Heavenbreaker and cultivator power

As the First Heavenbreaker, Ultris establishes the possibility of cultivating a personal Path against existing cosmic restrictions. Historical accounts place him at Stage 3 while fighting peak Stage-6 Gods, and later revelations say he reached peak Third Step and was preparing for Fourth before Apollyon crippled him. His Dao of Blood is ranked twenty-eighth and contains the Path of Evolution. That Dao ranking describes its stated initial strength, not a universal placement for Ultris in every combat system. Time and concealment

Ultris can loop an entire Cosmos, revise his personal history, erase his own memories, and stop other beings in time. The loops work as concealment because each version lives under different circumstances, but they are not costless or perfectly stable. His battle with Apollyon disturbs the River of Time, collapses the separate histories together, and leaves him without his Cosmos. The wooden token supplies specialized concealment from Fate when his own weakened state is insufficient. (Chapters 782, 807, and 826–827)

Scale, division, and mortality

Even while crippled, Ultris can move a universe and restrain Conquerors long enough to create an escape. Severant's division means that feats belonging to the dead Void Supreme cannot automatically be assigned to the surviving Ultris, despite their shared origin. He also remains killable: Zarek's borrowed true attack kills him outright, and his later activity depends on Beelzebub and Neo restoring him after his corpse is freed from Necromancy. Relationships

Hades

Hades selects Ultris as a gifted student who might lead a future generation and teaches him during the period when he meets Persephone. Ultris's later role as an inventor and opponent of Apollyon grows from that preparation, though he develops methods Hades does not direct. Severant's division also sends one part of Ultris back to Hades's side, where that counterpart becomes the Void Supreme and dies; the surviving student remains a separate person after the split. (Chapters 781 and 821)

Julie de Beaufort

Julie and Ultris work as long-term collaborators against Apollyon and the Eternals. Ultris protects her when Veydran confronts them, while Julie helps enact the plan to awaken the Devil of Cruelty and later opens Neo's path toward the True Blessed Lands. Their alliance is built on a shared interpretation of a previous-Eon document, and the later correction exposes how a mistaken premise can turn strategic cooperation into a source of suffering. Neo Hargraves

Ultris first reaches Neo under the identity Void and helps shape dangers whose human cost makes Neo hate him. When the crisis arrives, Ultris gives Neo the remaining family fragments and Hades's Life Flame, apologizes, and stays behind. Neo never needs to declare the earlier choices harmless in order to recognize the sacrifice. He later frees Ultris's corpse from Zarek and participates in restoring him, preserving accountability and rescue in the same relationship. (Chapters 781–787 and 831–833)

Apollyon

Apollyon hunts Ultris across altered histories and becomes Fate Supreme to defeat his concealment. Ultris's loops protect him long enough to reach peak Third Step, but the eventual battle destroys his Cosmos and cripples him even as Apollyon loses his eyes. Much of Ultris's later conduct—hiding Julie's plan, preparing the token, and backing Neo—follows from the knowledge that he can no longer face that enemy on equal terms alone. Items

The Ultris's Wooden Token was prepared by Ultris before his death and passed through Paul and Elizabeth to Neo. Ultris used it while weakened because it hides its bearer from Apollyon's Fate. Once delivered, Neo becomes its bearer; the token's protective function and provenance persist even though Ultris is later restored to life. (Chapter 807)
