Eternal Flame

Eternal Flame, later called Lay, is a living flame bestowed on Yu IlHan as smithing support. She grows by processing magic stones, monster records, dragon materials, and other fires, developing from an intelligent furnace flame into a speaking creation and combat partner. Her synchronization with IlHan eventually lets fire carrying both wills operate across artifacts, battlefields, and Dragon’s Nest’s restoration system.

Biography

Heaven’s exceptional reward

Heaven grants the Eternal Flame after IlHan’s early quest work, both as recognition of unusually successful results and additional compensation for the millennium he spent alone. It appears in his furnace as a fire capable of greeting and reacting to its owner. The gift is not a finished weapon: it is a specialized partner for a smith whose ordinary flame can no longer process the materials his battles provide. (Chapters 15–19)

From the beginning, the Flame adjusts temperature according to IlHan’s work and consumes magic stones to raise its own output. That intelligence lets him focus on hammering, material shape, and mana structure while the furnace responds without constant manual correction. Their first work turns harkanium into advanced equipment and establishes the synchronization that later makes it difficult to separate his crafting intent from her heat control. (Chapters 15–19)

The relationship is still asymmetrical. IlHan owns the workshop and supplies fuel, materials, and designs, while the Flame initially communicates through movement rather than speech. Yet he treats its preferences as meaningful and feeds it opportunities to grow instead of using it as a replaceable heat source. That treatment allows a divine reward to develop an identity outside Heaven’s original purpose. (Chapters 15–32, 105–107)

A flame that learns by eating

The Flame grows by consuming magic stones, monster byproducts, compatible fires, and records embedded in unusual materials. Each meal changes what heat can affect. It develops the ability to refine substances beyond ordinary metal, contributes to mass production of Traps of Destruction, and processes components whose mana density would overwhelm a normal furnace. Parts of the Yamata no Orochi add dragonkin and cursed-fire characteristics. Incubating Yumir’s egg exposes the Flame to a living dragon’s birth, and consuming the discarded shell produces another evolution. Dragon materials subsequently respond more completely in its heat, increasing the quality and compatibility of equipment made from them. These changes come from specific absorbed records rather than a general rule that anything burned grants every property it possessed. (Chapters 77–107)

By the time IlHan’s crafting reaches mass production, the Flame has become an irreplaceable component of Mana Crafting. Changes in color, shape, and intensity communicate approval, excitement, or reluctance before she can speak. IlHan learns to interpret those responses, making workshop cooperation the first language through which the sentient fire develops personality. (Chapters 28–32, 105–107, 147–148)

From furnace to battlefield

Ruin Calling gives the Eternal Flame a mobile home, freeing her from a stationary workshop. IlHan can now carry the responsive furnace into battle and focus its heat through a weapon. He combines it with Blaze, Dragonic Blood, and Orochi’s purple fire to produce white flame suited to melting resistant material and reinforcing spear attacks. (Chapters 140–179)

The later Infernal Dragon Body places Eternal Flame and Orochi inside the same armor system. She provides a fire core while Orochi suppresses souls and contributes draconic combat will. Together they can operate mechanisms such as the pile bunker while IlHan directs another action, aligning three wills through one set of equipment. The armor supplies the mechanism and protection; the Flame supplies adaptive heat and purification rather than every part of the attack. (Chapters 206–224)

Her fire is capable of control as well as destruction. During funeral rites she handles flames gently enough to cremate remains and help lingering souls pass without treating them as hostile fuel. The distinction shows judgment: Eternal Flame can decide how intensely to burn and cooperate with IlHan’s intent, rather than merely expanding whenever mana is available. (Chapter 256)

The Heart of Fire and a voice

When IlHan rebuilds his armor around the Heart of Fire, the Eternal Flame helps melt and combine materials gathered from higher-existence factions. The Heart resonates with her accumulated record and becomes the fire core of the new armor, while Orochi’s transferred dragon record occupies a complementary position. (Chapters 278–280)

The completed home lets Eternal Flame speak aloud. Her first words identify the artifact as home, formalizing an identity already visible through years of reactions. Speech does not begin intelligence; it gives existing judgment a direct voice. IlHan later shortens her name to Lay, which she accepts with the same enthusiasm once shown through brighter flames. Synchronization now becomes so close that flame can blossom wherever IlHan wills and her action can carry his intention without spoken instruction. That connection supports the fusion of his fire, dragon, crafting, and soul records during self-Creation. Lay contributes a living element to Dragon’s Nest’s founding, but IlHan remains the one undergoing Creation and accepting faction responsibility. (Chapters 280–295)

Lay of Dragon’s Nest

Eternal Flame advances with IlHan and Dragon’s Nest. She can scatter copies of fire carrying the same synchronized will, absorb or balance fire spread across a world, and act against higher existences without IlHan manually directing every tongue of flame. Distributed copies remain expressions of one sentient fire rather than separately developed people. (Chapters 305, 312–321)

During investigation of the Legnae, Lay acts as IlHan’s analytical extension. Their bodies resist ordinary mana, so she melts and exposes structure while his Record skill studies how the material and embedded control work. The collaboration converts an enemy’s protection into manufacturing knowledge rather than assuming that heat alone reveals every secret. (Chapters 312–314)

Lay then helps create Traps of Restoration. Her fire carries IlHan’s will through the alloy and supports replication in quantities impossible for one conventional forge, while Mystic administers the finished network. In later faction battles she continues synchronizing with IlHan and Echjar’s record, serving simultaneously as creation heat, transmitted will, purification, and combat flame. (Chapters 314–327)

Her latest state is active and synchronized with IlHan rather than embodied in a separate humanoid form. The relationship gives broad reach inside his domain, but the source does not establish that every fire in existence is permanently hers or that copies can live independently after separation from the shared system. Appearance and personality

Eternal Flame has no fixed humanoid body. She appears as golden and later increasingly translucent fire whose tongues, brightness, and intensity communicate emotion. The Heart of Fire and associated armor act as homes rather than a permanent biological body. (Chapters 15–19, 105–107, 279–280)

Once able to speak, Lay sounds like an enthusiastic young girl. She is eager to work, delighted by hotter flames and better materials, affectionate toward IlHan, and direct in her preferences. Simplicity should not be mistaken for mindlessness: she distinguishes crafting from combat and funeral use, performs analysis, and takes independent action within synchronized plans. Abilities and classes

Lay’s abilities are inseparable from accumulated fuel and synchronization. She begins as a specialized divine furnace flame, gains properties from compatible records, becomes mobile through artifacts, and finally operates as a sentient element across Dragon’s Nest systems. Equipment-derived reach and IlHan’s authority should remain distinct from her inherent adaptive fire. (Chapters 15–32, 105–179, 206–327)

Adaptive forging heat

Eternal Flame can sense and adjust the temperature required by IlHan’s current material. She consumes magic stones to raise output and processes harkanium, monster parts, dragon components, and higher-existence alloys beyond ordinary fire. Fine control lets her maintain a stable forging environment while IlHan shapes and enchants the material. (Chapters 15–32, 105–107, 148)

She improves compatibility with dragon material after absorbing Orochi components and Yumir’s eggshell. The progression is record-specific: processing those substances teaches her heat how to interact with similar matter. Extremely high-grade material still requires suitable fuel, time, tools, and IlHan’s own design; the Flame does not independently decide a complete artifact’s options. (Chapters 77–107, 140–148)

Absorption, evolution, and flame fusion

Lay grows by absorbing magic stones, unusual flames, monster byproducts, and records that her nature can process. Absorption can change color, intensity, material affinity, and the effects produced when her fire joins a weapon. It is both nourishment and progression. (Chapters 28–32, 77–107, 146–179)

IlHan combines her with Blaze, Dragonic Blood, and Orochi’s purple flame to produce white fire carrying destructive heat and curse-bearing draconic properties. The combination can melt resistant targets and reinforce spear attacks. Because several skills and wills contribute, white flame is a synchronized result rather than evidence that Lay independently owns every source ability. (Chapters 140–179, 206–224)

Absorption also has compatibility limits. The corpus shows selected fires and materials incorporated through repeated crafting; it does not state that Lay automatically copies any conceptual ability possessed by something she burns. (Chapters 77–107, 146–179)

Purification and soul-sensitive fire

Inside IlHan’s soul-enchanted equipment, Eternal Flame can burn hostile thought-material, purify contaminants, and support attacks that affect souls as well as bodies. Orochi helps suppress or direct thought-souls while IlHan provides Deathgod and Rule authority. Lay’s heat performs the purification component of that larger system. (Chapters 206–224)

Her funeral fire demonstrates a gentler application. She can cremate remains without raging out of control and help release lingering souls according to IlHan’s purpose. This shows precision over intensity, but not unilateral authority to resurrect or permanently judge souls. (Chapter 256)

Artifact operation and synchronization

Ruin Calling, Infernal Dragon Body, and the Heart of Fire successively provide mobile vessels. Through them Lay moves with IlHan, channels flame into spear or armor attacks, powers forging away from the original workshop, and helps operate weapon mechanisms with Orochi. Damage to or replacement of a vessel changes available functions even though the sentient flame survives transfer. (Chapters 140–179, 206–224, 278–295)

Synchronization with IlHan allows fire to respond directly to his will and his Creation to use her as a living component. She remains a distinct voice, so synchronization is cooperation rather than proof that one consciousness erases the other. Echjar and Orochi can add their records to the same system without becoming identical to Lay. (Chapters 278–295, 312–327)

Distributed fire, analysis, and restoration work

After Dragon’s Nest forms, Lay can scatter copies of synchronized fire and balance or absorb world-scale flame. Distributed operation lets her work on many components and oppose higher existences without waiting for individual spoken commands. The copies transmit one will and draw on the larger domain, so range and available power still matter. (Chapters 305, 312–327)

Against the Legnae, she melts mana-resistant bodies in a controlled way so IlHan’s Record skill can inspect their structure. Her fire then carries his will through alloy used for Traps of Restoration and helps reproduce the devices. Analysis belongs to their combination—heat exposes and manipulates structure, Record interprets it, Creation redesigns it, and Mystic administers the result. (Chapters 312–321)

By the latest supplied evidence, Lay remains a sentient divine flame synchronized with IlHan and Dragon’s Nest. No separate class number or humanoid transformation is established, so her progression is best described through demonstrated reach, intelligence, and functions rather than an invented racial ladder.
