Traps of Destruction
Traps of Destruction are magic tools used by Heaven’s Army to attract monsters, alter their surroundings, and form dungeons. Yu IlHan’s early work manufacturing them advances his Mana Crafting and later gives him the knowledge to redesign the system.
History
Earth’s dungeon network
Erta commissions Yu IlHan to create a Trap of Destruction after Earth’s first Great Cataclysm. He forms and inlays the device, then completes its mana crafting with a group of angels. When deployed, the trap expands its rings, lures nearby monsters through a five-sense illusion, and encloses them in a dungeon. Yu IlHan goes on to manufacture the remaining traps needed to stabilize Earth. (Chapters 16–18, 22–29)
Yu IlHan’s modified traps
During a later commission, Yu IlHan combines Soul Enchant and Rule with the traps so their activity can return records to him through a subordinate soul. Heaven distributes versions of his design across other worlds, while his hidden modifications also let him influence or open Earth’s dungeons during the third Great Cataclysm. (Chapters 147–150, 202–203)
Replacement by restoration
After learning that God may exploit the worldwide trap network through the Legnae, Yu IlHan refuses to keep using the existing design. He creates Traps of Restoration from a new alloy and has them grow by enveloping nearby Traps of Destruction. In affected worlds, this neutralizes the old network while preserving dungeon control. (Chapters 312–316, 342)
Abilities and properties
- A trap emits an attraction that deceives a monster’s senses and draws it into a forming dungeon. (Chapters 17–18)
- Its core metals—harkanium, fecinom, and el hazra—restrain and confine mana. (Chapter 312)
- Deployed traps do not capture every monster and can contribute to Overflows when mana or monster numbers exceed their capacity. (Chapters 22, 29, and 153)
- Yu IlHan’s variants can propagate modifications to other traps and transmit records through soul enchantment. (Chapters 148–149, 202)
