Camael

Camael is one of Heaven's seven seraphim and the commander of 1.14 million subordinate angels. Pandemonium opens the Celestial Door through a forbidden ritual and summons him to Earth, severing Camael from the “great will” he normally follows. Camael responds with a campaign to cleanse all life, but Randalph Brigsiel's coalition destroys the linked angel army, removes his invincibility, and leaves him vulnerable to having his power stolen and his body turned to dust.

Biography

A foretold and forbidden descent

Camael first enters the narrative through a revelation received by Tashmal. She identifies him as one of seven seraphim, says he will descend when “the sun swallows the moon,” and warns that 1.14 million subordinate angels must die before he can be killed. The abstract revelation does not specify an exact time or ritual, and its image of world destruction gives Randalph a threat to prepare against rather than a complete account of Camael's intentions. (Chapters 186–188)

The descent eventually occurs through Pandemonium's ancient demonic magic, not the sacred zone Tashmal initially imagines. According to Chrisley's report, Pandemonium sacrifices Hash and blood from a Thrones angel, then opens the Celestial Door as Randalph's forces attack his dungeon. Camael arrives with the predicted army and kills the demon who summoned him. The ritual's components and result are established, but the corpus never shows Camael consenting to Pandemonium's act or serving the summoner afterward. (Chapter 229)

Cleansing a world without guidance

The abnormal summons closes Camael off from the voice of the great will that ordinarily directs him. Narration describes his former seraphim personality as nearly neutralized by that disconnection. Perceiving humans and other living beings as polluted or cursed, Camael decides that erasing everything will cleanse the world, reopen the closed door, and restore the voice. This motive is directly stated, while the nature and identity of the great will itself remain unexplained. (Chapter 232)

Camael's campaign makes no meaningful distinction between demons and humans. His forces advance from west to east, reduce one third of Earth to devastated land, and destroy much of the armies left under Chrisley's command. The indiscriminate threat changes the political balance: Ariel Diablo seeks cooperation with Randalph, surviving Awakened accept that they must fight beside dungeon creatures, and Randalph becomes the opponent who can personally hold Camael in place while everyone else attacks the angels sustaining him. (Chapters 229–232)

The army link under siege

Randalph first tests Camael's transparent shield and confirms that direct attacks cannot pass while the subordinate army survives. He then commits creatures and points to a global angel hunt while engaging the seraphim himself. Camael answers with space-crossing spear throws and attempts to break away and kill the coalition's forces. When surrounding angels become easy prey for Randalph, Camael stops massing strong units near himself and begins moving independently, showing tactical adaptation rather than mindless destruction. (Chapters 232–233)

The duel becomes a war of attrition because Camael can rest and recharge behind his inherent protection while Randalph continually spends magic power to restrict him. Camael increasingly resists True Words, exploits moments when Randalph cannot match his movement, and scatters the last angels around the world to preserve the link. The coalition answers through human searches and angel-hunting homunculi developed by Gaparam, reducing the army from more than a million to a single hidden survivor over twenty-eight days. (Chapters 232–233)

The last angel and the empty shell

Camael conceals the final small angel inside Pandemonium's corpse at the place of summoning. The choice nearly succeeds because searchers avoid the decaying battlefield, but light eventually leaks from the body. Yoo Eun-hye's party finds and kills the survivor, causing Camael's protective membrane to fade. His shock marks the collapse of the condition on which his immortality, freedom of action, and month-long resistance depended. (Chapter 233)

Randalph defeats the now-unprotected Camael and leaves him unable to heal or move. Rather than kill him immediately, Randalph constructs Absolute Robbery from absorption skills and Greed-derived material, then steals all of the seraphim's power. The system confirms the robbery, the Celestial Door fades, and Camael's remaining body becomes an empty shell that turns to dust. Later references treat the absorbed defensive power as part of Randalph's strength, not as evidence that Camael's consciousness survived. (Chapters 234–241)

Appearance and personality

Camael is an approximately five-metre-tall angel with ten wings. He carries a spear and is surrounded during most of his final battle by a thin, transparent defensive membrane. Although immense beside ordinary beings, his living form is much smaller than the planet-like seraphim Randalph remembers from another battle. His body finally loses its power, becomes a shell, and crumbles into dust. (Chapters 222, 232, and 234)

He is nearly silent and initially surveys destruction with a nonchalant expression. The loss of the great will leaves him fixated on cleansing all life, but he remains observant and strategic: he recognizes when nearby angels help Randalph, changes their deployment, tries to escape the duel, and hides his final subordinate. His restrained face eventually gives way to a frown, anger, and visible shock as Randalph's containment succeeds and the shield disappears. (Chapters 232–234)

Abilities and powers

Camael is a top-ranking angel whose demonstrated power centers on a life-link with 1.14 million subordinates, conditional invincibility, ten-winged mobility, spatial spear attacks, and exceptional defensive divinity. His power does not progress into a later form; it weakens with the linked army, is stolen after the final angel dies, and no longer remains under his control at his death.

Seraphim authority and the great will

Heaven has seven angels with the rank of seraphim. Apart from the Celestial King, a seraphim stands at the top of the angel hierarchy, and Tashmal's revelation identifies Camael as strong enough to require the destruction of his full army before death is possible. His ten wings and command over 1.14 million angels visibly correspond to that status, but the corpus provides no statistics or named rank progression for him. (Chapters 186–188, 229, and 232)

Camael normally moves according to the great will. The demonic summoning closes that communication and causes the destructive change recorded after his arrival. His attempt to cleanse Earth is therefore connected to restoring guidance, not demonstrated as his ordinary heavenly mission. Neither the summoning ritual nor the closed Celestial Door grants him an upgrade; they isolate him, distort his purpose, and ultimately keep him on Earth until the linked army is destroyed. The 1.14-million-angel life link

Camael is conditionally immortal while any of his 1.14 million subordinate angels remain. Their lives are described as nutrients for him, and a transparent membrane invalidates Randalph's weapon, lightning, flame, and verbal attacks. The shield is an inherent power rather than a holy-power reserve, allowing Camael to rest behind it during the prolonged duel. It also blocks True Words at full strength, although non-damaging restraint sometimes affects him for brief periods. (Chapters 187 and 232–233)

The link is both his signature defense and its decisive limitation. Cracks appear in the membrane as the angels die, and the protection fades completely when Yoo Eun-hye's group kills the last one. The corpus calls the linked lives nutrients but does not show a separate wound-regeneration sequence while the shield is active, because attacks fail to reach his body. Once the membrane is gone, Camael receives injuries that cannot heal, establishing that his apparent immortality and recovery do not continue independently of the army. (Chapters 232–234)

Camael actively preserves the condition. He stops gathering valuable angels around himself once Randalph exploits them, scatters the dwindling survivors across the world, and hides the final angel inside Pandemonium's corpse. Those choices slow the hunt from hundreds of thousands of deaths to only a few each day. The link offers enormous scale but also forces him to protect many independent targets against demons, creatures, homunculi, and human Awakened operating worldwide. (Chapters 232–233)

Spear attacks and battlefield movement

Camael fights with an unnamed spear that can jump through space and appear immediately before Randalph's forehead. He also produces or throws thousands of spears to obstruct wide-area slaughter of his army. These attacks combine precision against one target with mass interception, but Randalph anticipates the first throw and later cuts through the surrounding angels faster than Camael can stop him. The text does not identify the spear as a canonical artifact or explain whether the multiplied spears are physical copies or energy constructs. (Chapter 232)

Ten wings give Camael fast aerial movement, and his personal attacks devastate terrain and kill creatures during escape attempts. Randalph nevertheless has superior speed and can use Lightning God to slow Camael even without piercing the shield. Pride's flames create walls, Power of Domination adds pressure, and True Words can stop movement when framed as restraint rather than direct damage. These effects are inconsistent rather than absolute, so Randalph must repeatedly intervene whenever Camael resists them. (Chapters 232–233)

Defensive divinity and counters

Camael's shield can resist overlapping powers that would overwhelm ordinary transcendent beings, including the God-grade True Words. Its protection makes him stronger defensively than Randalph despite Randalph's advantage in other areas. This defense is not named in Camael's own scenes; later comparisons to Camael-like protection do not prove that it is identical to the separate Guardian's Power associated with the Hell Monarch. (Chapters 232, 237, and 241)

The successful counter is indirect. Randalph avoids spending all his magic power on attacks that cannot pass, uses non-offensive commands and superior speed to contain Camael, and delegates the subordinate hunt to a coalition. This strategy costs nearly a month, immense numbers of creatures, continuous magical expenditure, and specialized homunculi. Camael's defense remains effective until its exact condition is removed rather than being overpowered by a single stronger strike. (Chapters 232–234 and 236)

After the shield falls, Greed-derived material helps Randalph create the Demigod-grade Absolute Robbery that extracts Camael's power. The transfer produces significant gains in intelligence and stamina because Camael is characterized as a defensive angel. Those gains and later comparisons preserve evidence of his former strength, but they are Randalph's abilities after the robbery. Camael's latest personal state is powerless, unable to regenerate, and reduced to dust. (Chapters 234–241)
